The thesis assesses market value of company CENTA, spol. s r.o. for strategic decision purposes. The crucial method is income-based valuation method, which is assisted by asset-based valuation method. The first part of the thesis includes strategic, financial and SWOT analysis. Afterwards particular valuation methods are applied. In conclusion statement of value as at 31.12.2006 is reported.

Social analysis of debtors in Prague 3 - Žižkov

The bachelor paper "Social analysis of the indebted citizens in Prague 3" focuses on the issues of indebtedness, respectively overindebtedness, it's causes and consequences for single person, or the whole population. The essay tries to answer the question about the origin of overindebtedness, options of it's solution and prevention. The theoretical part deals with the issues by historical aspect and the law aspect too, mainly is focused to the execution of the decision carried out by sale of movable things, and advise for individuals. The research part works with the question, which segments of population the indebtedness concerns at most, by the aspect of gender, age, employment, nationality and education, focused for Prague 3.

Velocity of money and its relevance for monetary policy

The thesis discusses some issues on the topic of money velocity. Its goal is to summarise theroretical contributions in this area, which are followed by a practical application through the monetary analysis of the Slovak Republic from 1993 to 2000. The theoretical part involves the first approaches to money velocity, explanation of the quantity theory of money and monetarism and their critique. It also describes the monerary transmission mechanism. The practical application part evaluates the impact of the stability of money velocity on the decision of the National Bank of Slovakia to abandon monetary targeting. It also focuses on the other variables that influenced monetary policy execution. The last chapter is devoted to the importance of money velocity if the central bank uses inflation targeting as its policy.

Economic analysis of passive houses

The master thesis deals with passive houses and their profitability's economic analysis. The thesis focuses on both new buildings and renovations, which have the greatest potential for energy savings in the building's sector. The cost-effectiveness of proposed measures is evaluated using the example of reconstruction of an existing house with passive and low-energy standard. Low-energy option of reconstruction is more profitable from an investor's perspective than the passive one. At 4% annual growth in energy prices, both options become comparable. The result of the calculation is not generally applicable. The profitability always depends on a specific building and various measures. Besides the cost-effectiveness, the investor's decision about an investment is also influenced by an increasing level of living comfort, subsidies and environmental protection.

The aim of this thesis was provision of authoritative document on which the company could comprehensively evaluate a given business opportunity and decide on its acceptance or rejection, or basis for further analysis. For this purpose I created a business plan according to current recommendations. In selected organizations I prepared analysis of internal and external environment to get the information necessary for the decision.

Analýza vztahu kvality bilančních aktiv centrální banky a účinnosti monetární politiky

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of financial performance of central banks. Central banking is generally considered as a profitable part of financial system. However, this paper focuses on the loss-making central banks and emphasizes the examples of central banks with large accumulated financial losses. Relationship between the quality of balance sheet assets and financial performance of central banks is closely examined in the thesis. Alongside, it analyses the impact of negative financial performance on the main objectives of central bank, in the role of monetary authority. Effectiveness of monetary policy is conditioned by many factors, among them are independence of central bank, the level of development of financial markets - central bank operates in, analytical skills of employees and etc. However, the case, where financial performance of central bank is discussed in connection with monetary policy performance, is extremely rare. The primary goal of this diploma thesis is to reveal and describe the main ways in which financial performance of the central bank influences monetary policy decisions. It also tries to find out whether there is hidden threat of a damaging impact on the decisions in case the central bank accumulates the negative financial results.

Integrace elektroenergetických trhů ve střední Evropě v právním rámci Energetické unie

This paper examines the possibilities for further integration of day-ahead electricity market in Central Europe. The contemporary situation is locked due to the existence of the German-Austria bidding zone. However, compliance of this bidding zone with European legislative is questionable. Therefore, the author makes a thorough legal analysis to assess the compatibility of both analysed projects for market coupling with the recent legal development in the European Union. Further, the examined projects are technically deconstructed in order to evaluate their conformity or differences between each other as well as in relation towards the EU Target Model. It is assessed, that both projects are relatively well technically compatible, however, their merger is not possible until the definite and binding decision on the issue of German-Austrian bidding zone will be found.

Liquidation of business corporations in the Czech republic

This thesis deals with the liquidation of business corporations in the Czech Republic. The whole course of the liquidation from voluntary decision itself to deletion from the Commercial Register is considered from the financial, tax and legal perspective. There are descripted the duties and rights of the liquidator and the possibility of transition from liquidation in insolvency proceedings. The findings are in the practical part demonstrated on concrete examples selected from the Commercial Register.

Comparation of the EU and US approach towards mergers and acquisitions

This study aims to compare the EU and US approach towards mergers and acquisitions, both from a theoretical point of view (the historical development and regulation) and the practical one(comparing certain cases), identify their similarities and differences, explain it and evaluate. To achieve the goal, the method of comparison was used (especially control procedures and assessing relevant markets). It was also assisted by case studies (specific decisions of the competition authorities), thus that the merger of GE / Honeywell and acquisitions, Oracle / Sun Microsystems. The work is divided into four chapters. The first chapter approaches the topic in terms of their development and legislation. The next two chapters introduce the merger control in both systems. The last chapter deals with cooperation between the competition authorities of the EU and the US. Chapter also compares the specific cases in which both teams have decided differently.
