Analysis of special investment funds focusing on the Czech Republic in the years 2004 - 2014

This thesis deals with retail investors investing in mutual funds in the Czech Republic and focuses on the period from 2004 to 2014. The aim is to analyze what investment opportunities special funds can offer retail investors. The theoretical part defines important terms for collective investment, the concept of the so called "magic triangle", illustrating the relationship between return, risk and liquidity, and the differences between retail and qualified investors. It also briefly outlines the development of collective investment in the world and in the Czech Republic, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of collective investment. Subsequently, the current classification of collective investment funds in the Czech Republic are analyzed from different perspectives. No major differences have been found in the regulation of standard and special funds. The main contribution that this work provides is the detailed analysis of five chosen special funds, forming the practical part of this thesis. Based on the selected criteria it has been found that only some of the chosen special funds can offer retail investors the possibility of an interesting appreciation of invested funds. The work points to the fact that the legislation of the fund is not as fundamental for retail investors as the specific type of investment strategy and the focus of the fund.

The Ombudsman and his relation to the principles of good governance

This diploma thesis discusses the relationship of the Ombudsman to the principles of good governance. The rise in popularity of ombudsman institution in the 20th century caused his growing typological diversification. The concept of good governance in different countries takes different content. The goal is to capture the same characteristics and identify the differences between the selected models. The core of the work consists of analyzing Ombudsman's Institute in the Czech Republic, Greece and the European Ombudsman. The base of analysing is a comparison with regard to the legal status, legal basis of institutions and good governance principles.

Banking Union

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to introduce individual pillars of the Banking Union and critically evaluate appropriateness of the whole concept, to give selected arguments for and against the voluntary entry into the Banking Union and subsequently to make an analysis of selected benefits and opportunities complemented by an analysis of selected disadvantages and risks, which would stem from participation in the Banking Union, for a state whose currency is not the euro. Another task of the work is to assess impacts of participation of the Czech Republic in the Banking Union. The research question is whether voluntary participation in the Banking Union is advantageous for the Czech Republic or not. The bachelor's thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter introduces the concept of the Banking Union, including its individual pillars. The second chapter focuses on the possibility of voluntary participation in the Banking Union for the states whose currency is not the euro, and it also includes arguments for and against establishing close cooperation. The third chapter is represented by an analysis of benefits, opportunities, disadvantages and risks of voluntary participation in the Banking Union which is followed by an impact analysis of eventual participation of the Czech Republic. In conclusion, there is recapitulated the result of the analyses which consists in the recommendation to the Czech Republic not to join the Banking Union voluntarily.

Design of a Robotic Cell for Gluing of Magnets of DC Motors

The diploma thesis deals with the design of a general concept workplace for gluing magnets to the DC stators. The thesis is focused on the selection of industrial robots and their location, the design and the construction of end effectors for manipulation with segments and stators and the proposal of solution for engineering units on a workplace. Among the construction units belong: revolving tables with gripping systems, rotary tables on pallets and construction manipulators. At the end of the thesis the concept of the solution for workplace safety is created according to current legislation and safety standards.

Analysis of financing small store in South Bohemia region

The first part of Master`s thesis focuses on defining the concept of small and medium sized company, a description of their meaning and the possibility of obtaining grants from EU structural funds and from government institutions. Within the options of grant will be prepared and submitted a grant application for a subsidized loan from Czech-Moravian Guarantee and Development Bank or from another entity. The second part of Thesis deals with the business plan. Thesis compares business plan from the franchisor with the reality that arose in building small store in Tabor and its operation in the first fifteen months. Based on the comparison may be designed to optimizing cost outlets of the store. The contribution of this Thesis is to look at a small retail business and it's financing. Such a complex view can help to similar retailers with orientation in the establishment and funding of a similar type of retail businesses. It will also be evaluated by franchise concept Náš grunt in the light of the real picture of financing its stores.

Design of plastic parts of the sports car front bumper

This thesis deals with the plastic parts design for VW Scirocco R front bumper. Plastic parts were designed for an injection molding mass production. Besides of designing a shape of the parts based on package, assembly concept, functional and aesthetic requirements, great deal of attention is applied to proper part molding with regard to technological and economic aspects.

Is the concept of the Laffer curve valid? : the empirical evidence from the corporate income tax for selected OECD countries

This thesis deals with the issue of Laffer curve. According to the idea of Laffer curve when the tax rate exceeds certain treshold (revenue-maximizing tax rate) the tax revenue would in absolute terms decrease with rising tax rate. Therefore this thesis tries to discover whether those facts are valid in the corporate income taxation for 20 OECD countries for the time period from 1965 to 2006. The structure of the thesis could be divided into three parts. In first introductory chapters we would discuss the issue of taxation in general. We will briefly examine the history of taxation and explore the theory of taxation and tax systems. The second part of this thesis will focus on the Laffer curve in detail. Third chapter will introduce the theory behind Laffer curve and discuss its properties for different types of taxation. In the following chapter the literature and different possibilities of estimation of Laffer curve and (or) Laffer effects would be reviewed. Fifth chapter focuses on the corporate income taxation per se and examine the development of corporate income tax revenues and rates in our sample countries. Colonialism as a reason for the Dutch Disease in Africa and its implication to economic development and monetary policy

The main aim of the Bachelor's Thesis is to focus on developing countries and their complicated way to longlasting economic growth and stability. With an example of Africa it is trying to explain that badly used official development assistance together with barely any export diversity of a country can lead to a problem called the Dutch Disease. The first two parts of the thesis describe the theoretical concept as well as historical and current development of the continent. The third part brings recommendations for future development and includes specific macroeconomic data which provide more information related to hypotheses.

The Lean concept arises from Toyota Production Syste (TPS). Then, the concept of leanness includes Value, Waste and Continuous Improvement. An organization with high level of leanness creates higher value to customers with lower level of waste within a continuous improvement environment. The examination of these diploma theses determines a new approach of lean measurement. Although, the use of ethnography is new in Lean management, it opens new possibilities to understand the behavior of the people about the organizational leanness.

CSR activities of the chosen brand

The diploma thesis is focused on the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities and evaluates the CSV (Creating Shared Value) activities of the brand producing Slovak cheese and cheese specialties. The aim is to analyse and evaluate them properly, propose the right communication and future goals, that are in line with the current ones. The first part is centred on the description of CSR concept, its establishment, history in the world and in the Czech Republic. The concept of CSV is described next. This is followed by the trends in the communication of CSR on social media and other on-line media. The second part is mostly about the particular brand, its history and main attributes. Already existing activities are analysed, their communication is proposed together with the activities, that should supplement the contemporary ones in the future.
