Importance of primary and secondary prevention in cardivascular disorder
Koníčková, Veronika ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Skalská, Marie (referee)
1 Abstract: Title: The importance of primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease Goals: Develop a theoretical basis for the selected topic. Describe the basic principles of primary and secondary prevention, and thus prepare the groundwork for creating questionnaires. Questionnaire compiled to complement the information obtained from the literature on insight into the practice. Confirm or refute the hypotheses chosen on the basis of a questionnaire. Discuss the most frequently occurring phenomena and compare them with the latest reported information. Draw conclusions and recommendations. Method: For the theoretical treatment of the retrieval method was used. I compared the information and inclined to the best proven. The theoretical part resulted in the goals and tasks of work. For the practical part was conducted by questionnaire survey, which has additional information on the issue of primary and secondary prevention. In the end I obtained data compared with information obtained from studying literature. Results: Lack of information on primary and secondary prevention is mainly for young people aged 10-15 years. This trend is accompanied by the deteriorating health situation and the occasional occurrence of the "diseases of civilization", which can produce complications in adulthood....
Selected differences in pathophysiology of cardiovascular system in women
Yang, Shiann-Guey ; Kittnar, Otomar (advisor) ; Ošťádal, Petr (referee) ; Danzig, Vilém (referee)
(summary of doctoral dissertation) It has become increasingly apparent in recent years that there are important differences of many cardiovascular disorders including ventricular tachycardias in men and women. Gender differences have been observed in the epidemiology, pathogenesis and clinical presentation of various ventricular arrhythmias. Physiological menopause occurs as a part of a woman's normal aging process being based on the natural cessation of estradiol and progesterone production by the ovaries. The dramatic fall in circulating estrogens levels at menopause impacts many tissues including cardiovascular system. Because the incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD) rises significantly after menopause, it has been hypothesized that women's CHD advantage before menopause (in comparison to men of the same age) could be due to the protective effects of estrogens. However, controversial results have been reported since early nineties until today. While some studies found reduction in the incidence of CHD and in mortality from cardiovascular diseases some other studies failed to provide any evidence for an independent role of estradiol levels in determining CHD in postmenopausal women and some studies even found positive association of endogenous estradiol with the risk of CHD among women above...
A nurse task in the stress test in a cardiology
FIŠEROVÁ, Andrea
The theme of this work is the role of nurses in the cardiology stress tests. The first part of this work is theoretical and the other is practical. We determine the role of nurses in the cardiology stress tests. We focused on how to nurse in the cardiology department in the ward and the nurse directly at the stress tests. We also wanted to map different types of stress tests and activity nurses. The research we selected nurses working in ergometry, spiroegometrie, stress echocardiography and positron emission scintigraphy of the myocardium. Research for this work were 3 research questions.

Secondary prevention in case of patients with cardiovascular disease
HOTAŘOVÁ, Zdeňka
Despite all the achievements and progress of contemporary science and practice, the cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in industrialized countries, including the Czech Republic. Furthermore cardiovascular diseases in the Czech Republic are one of the most frequent causes of adult morbidity and disability. Since cardiovascular diseases are very wide and comprehensive subject, it is beyond the scale of this work to include all diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Therefore, in this work we have only focused on certain diseases. From the long list of cardiovascular disease, we chose atherosclerosis, hypertension, coronary artery disease and arrhythmias. We have also focused on different cardiology methods, prevention of risk factors of cardiovascular diseases, role of the nurses in this field and nurse-patient relationship. We have set three main goals for this hypothesis. The first objective was to explore the ongoing secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. The second objective was to focus on involvement of nurses in secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. The third and last objective was to determine how patients with cardiovascular disease comply with preventive measures. The research and patients' interviews were used to obtain the needed data to process the empirical part of this proposal. The research consisted of two parts. The first part consisted of 8 nurses working with general practitioners for adults or internal clinic in the Region. The second part consisted of eight patients who are treated for cardiovascular disease. Patients came from the Highlands and the South Region. Analysis of the data from the research was created 6 categories of the results of interviews with general nurses. Categories: Importance of secondary prevention, Cardiovascular risk factors, Role of the nurse in secondary prevention, Education as secondary prevention, Adherence to preventive measures and Evaluation preventive care. Also was created 6 categories of patients. Category Changing lifestyles, Preventive measures, Involvement sisters to prevent cardiovascular disease, Motivation, Visiting of specialists, Assessment of nurses. Our aim was to focus on the secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases, study the topic, talk on the subject with selected patients, analyze the information and create a information booklet for patients with cardiovascular disease.
Participation of patients after myocardial infarction in the active care of their health in the secondary prevention
ŽAHOURKOVÁ, Marie
Prevention of cardiovascular disease including myocardial infarction is in recent years a widely discussed topic. Cardiovascular diseases are currently the most widespread disease among the worldwide. This thesis deals with the participation of patients after myocardial infarction in active care of their health in secondary prevention. For failure principles of secondary prevention is increased morbidity of these cardiovascular diseases and subsequently increase the costs for further treatment. Well-timed and targeted prevention is very important how to reduce the cost of treatment and the restoration of health and maintaining a good quality of life. The thesis is composed of two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part of the thesis describes cardiovascular diseases, especially acute myocardial infarction, prevention and education, including educational process of secondary prevention. The empirical part was realized by qualitative research. Information was collected by semi-standardized interview technique. The interview was composed of both closed and open-ended questions where had respondents the opportunity to express individually. The research group consisted of patients and nurses of three selected cardiocenters in Czech Republic - University Hospital Motol, České Budějovice Hospital, a.s. and Faculty Hospital Plzeň. In the first phase of the research we examined the awareness of patients of secondary prevention. In addition we inquire into the level of their activities in the care of their health and the impact of realized changes to their life satisfaction. The research sample is consisted of 12 respondents - patients who in former times have had a myocardial infarction and now were re- hospitalized due to symptoms of heart problems. For the research were patients selected by random sampling and divided into three groups, four from each cardiocenter. In the second phase of the research, we investigated the options and rate of education of nurses taking care of patients after myocardial infarction in pursuance of secondary prevention and types of nursing documentation kept by nurses of cardiology ward. This part of the study sample was consisted of nine nurses working in selected cardiocentre. For one interview were approached three nurses from each chosen department with longer experience in the field of cardiology. For the research was established six goals and eight research questions. The results of the research showed that the patients are relatively well educated in the principles of secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, but not enough by nurses. The knowledge of patients of prevention of myocardial infarction and secondary prevention measures is at a relatively good level. The rate of changes in the approach to secondary prevention is unsatisfactory and doesn´t meet the rate of improvement of capabilities of modern medicine regardless of their age and length of treatment. The research also showed a positive effect of the principles of secondary prevention on the quality of life of patients.
The role of nurses in the primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases
CICHROVÁ, Lenka
The thesis seeks to examine the role of nurses in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Today, CVD are one of the most frequent causes of death in adults worldwide. In Europe they are involved in up to 40% of deaths annually. These diseases affect the heart and blood vessels and can occur in several forms, such as ischemic heart disease, stroke or high blood pressure. Therefore, primary prevention is a vital part of nursing interventions. Prevention of CVD is closely linked to the awareness of risk factors. Hence, it should be aimed at proper handling of such factors or possible treatment. The work is composed of two parts, the first part being theoretical and the second practical. Two objectives were set for this thesis. Firstly, to map out the role of nurses in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases; secondly, to determine whether nurses in GP surgeries are involved in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The following research questions were defined: ?What is the main role of nurses in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases???How do nurses in GP surgeries engage in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases???Do nurses in GP surgeries use the SCORE risk charts??The qualitative research revealed that nurses are most often involved in the prevention of CVD as proper lifestyle educators and monitors of blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose. It was also found that nurses in GP surgeries engage in primary prevention of CVD. The thesis records interviews carried out with nurses, describing the interviews in the results. The most common and most interesting responses are given in tables. The results of the thesis can be used as a source of information on proper primary prevention of CVD in GP surgeries. This information was used to create guidelines for nurses on how to proceed in the primary prevention of CVD.

They admit that the results of the tests focused on cholesterol levels positively affect their lifestyle. The majority of respondents positively affect their lifestyle according to theoretical recommendations. Comprehensive investigation has proved that the overall lifestyle is comparable to the general population.
Survey of continuing care for cardiacs in Czech Republic, with focus on nursing care.
DOLEŽEL, Jakub
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the Czech Republic. An increasing number of its inhabitants become cardiac patients who require a nursing intervention. Nursing in cardiology has an irreplaceable position in the cardiovascular care provision. The health care costs are rising, nursing has been undergoing many changes. Training of cardiology nurses gets changed, as well as the image and role of cardiology nurses in society. Cardiology nurses are much more independent, educated and organized. In cardiovascular facilities nursing care is being standardized and the quality of care is improving. In this thesis, focus is given to nursing in cardiology. In the introduction the issue of cardiovascular diseases is outlined, the major part is devoted to the concept of Czech nursing in cardiology. Individual stages of the system of care for cardiac patients in the Czech Republic and the status of cardiology nurses involved in the system are surveyed. Attention is also paid to the structure of cardiovascular facilities and expert companies in our country and abroad. The thesis has the title: Survey of continuity of care for cardiac patients in the Czech Republic with focus on nursing care. In total five goals, seven research questions and four hypotheses were stated. We surveyed the cardiology nurses´ attitude to lifelong learning, if they are building their own specific image, and if they ensure the continuity of care. Our objective was also to identify the role of nurses in education of cardiac patients and the level of cardiac patients´ knowledge. The research section is elaborated on the basis of a qualitative and quantitative investigation. The qualitative part was carried out by semi-structured interviews with cardiology nurses working in comprehensive cardiovascular centers. The quantitative part of the survey was conducted with patients of comprehensive cardiovascular centers. Seventy domestic and foreign sources of literature devoted not only to the issueof cardiovascular diseases were quoted. The research results are supposed to serve as a basis for coordinated efforts of all participating nurses and institutions to build a well-functioning and technically and economically efficient system of nursing care for cardiac patients in CR.
