Utilization of high-frequency conductivity senzor for detection of compounds in gas phase
Kupcová, Kristýna ; Čabala, Radomír (referee) ; Jelínek, Ivan (advisor)
in English This thesis is aimed at studying quality of a high-frequency impedance capacitance sensor for the toxic gases, especially acetone, n-hexane, trichloromethane, toluene. Those organic solvents are the basic raw material of the chemical industry. Their concentration in the air should be detected thanks to their toxicity and tenuousness. If the sensor is sensitive, it will be possible to miniaturize it and test it in an ambience of chemical factories where we can miniaturize the health risks.

An Environmental Impact of Pyritic Bauxite from the Dajti Mine, Albania
Novák, Jiří Karel ; Minařík, Luděk ; Peza, Luftulla Hasan ; Melka, Karel
The accelerated chemical weathering of bauxite due to acid atmospheric deposition and breakdown of pyrite was simulated using short-termed laboratory acid leaching at 20 o C. Pyrite-bearing gibbsite-boehmitic bauxite giving rise to a number of questions concerning ecology was tested along with oxic boehmitic bauxite from the Dajti mine and that from Mali Korites (Mali Thate Mts., SE Albania). The leachte of pyrite-bearing and sulphate-producing bauxite is enriched in the following risk elements: Cd, Be, Zn, Ni, Co, and much less Cr, Cu, As, and Pb. Toxic soluble hydroxy-alumina ions may be also released into the aquatic environment, because of high concentration in output leachate (563 mg/l). In contrast, the leachates of oxic boehmitic bauxites commonly contain much lower concentrations of toxic elements with exception of Cu (Dajti mine) and Be (new occurence of Mali Korites).

Effects of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, rosiglitazone, low caloric diet and environmental pollutants: obesity and related disorders

4. CONCLUSIONS Conceming the specific aims of the thesis, the following conclusions may be formulated: l.Additionalbeneficia|effectsofthecombinedfieatmentbyn_3PUFAof marine origin and anti-diabetic drug rosiglitazone on obesity and related disorders were proven in mice fed high-fed diet. In comparison with either n- 3 PUFA or TZD effects alone, the combined treatment was more potent in amelioration of the following adverse pheÍrotypes: a. body weight, body weight gain and body lipid content; b. dYsliPidaemia; c. muscle insulin resistance demonstrated as enhanced muscle glycogen synthesis; obesity-associated inflammation of adipose tissue; and inaddition, additiveinductionofadiponectinwasfound, especiallyits multimeric form, which induces insulin sansitivity' These results on mouse modet suggest possible application for human medicine, where fish oil concentrates may enhance efficacy ofthe treatment byTZD,and reduce the risk of the adverse effect of the TzD-therapy' 2. Relatively specific induction oflipid oxidation by n-3 PUFA in the intestine was found, which may be important for e'g' anti-obesity and hypolipidemic effects ofthese liPids. 3. Changes in adiponectin concentration as well as distribution of its multimeric forms as a result oflow caloric diet were found in human patients' 4. Association between...

Social networks - case study of Facebook
Remta, Daniel ; Pavlíček, Antonín (advisor) ; Toman, Prokop (referee)
In my thesis I deal with online social networks. At the beginning, I describe the social networks in general. Continuing by online social networks, where do I start with a brief history and then I focuse on the description of their basic features. Next section is devoted to the possibilities of social networks for both current users and business users, or state institutions or politicians. Next chapter is devoted to the risks of online social networking. These risks are described for users and operators. The practical part of my work is about internet social network Facebook. Here is a brief description of its history and basic usability. The greater part of this chapter is concentrated on partial parsing content of Facebook with focusing on education, politics, business and socio-pathological phenomena. This section is supplemented by tables of data found in the environment of Facebook. Work ends with a brief summary of the findings.

Options of continual glycemia monitoring in critically ill patients and treatment of hyperglycemia with the use of insulin algorithms
Bláha, Jan ; Haluzík, Martin (advisor) ; Matějovič, Martin (referee) ; Vaněk, Tomáš (referee)
Glycaemia control is nowadays one of the most discussed topics in intensive care. The landmark Leuven study, which has brought hyperglycaemia in intensive care to the centre of interest, demonstrated that tight glycaemia control (TGC) targeted to maintain euglycaemia between 4.4 to 6.1 mmol/l reduced mortality and frequency of organ complications associated with critical illness. Although this study was published eight years ago, there is still no general agreement about approach to tight glycaemia control in critically ill patients. Doubts have been raised about both the universality of intensive glycaemia control, and especially its safety in terms of potential damage to patients by episodes of hypoglycaemia. Our studies did not focus on questions of importance or risk of TGC, but we concentrated on key point of hole TGC concept - on glycaemia control in critically ill patients itself. The aims of our studies were the research of subcutaneous adipose tissue as an alternative-site for continuous glucose measurements in ICU patients, and comparison and development of insulin algorithms for hyperglycaemia treatment and normoglycaemia management. We demonstrated good correlation between arterial and interstitial subcutaneous glucose concentrations in critically ill patients undergoing deep hypothermia. We...

Adoption of euro in Czech Republic - preparedness, risks, perspectives
Dvořák, Josef ; Žamberský, Pavel (advisor) ; Adámková, Vlasta (referee)
This thesis concentrates on theoretical postulates of the Optimum Currency Area theory, mentiones preparedness of the Czech Republic in the area of Maastricht criteria, real convergence, alternative adjustment mechanisms, legislative a institucional preparedness, summarizes actual preparatory work and possible scenarios of the euro-adoption, describes opinions of public and entrepreneurs on euro, mentions experience of Slovenia and Slovakia with new currency and recapitulates the risks of procrastination in this area. Main objective is an analysis of the overall preparedness of the Czech Republic to adopt euro.

Analysis of investment certificates on the Czech market
Suchánková, Šárka ; Radová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Málek, Jiří (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the subject of investment certificates. The first part of the thesis concentrates on characterising individual types of certificates and specifying risks that are related to these instruments. Information about legal regulation of investment certificates in the Czech Republic is provided here as well. In the second part of the thesis the offer of investment certificates by the Prague Stock Exchange is analyzed from various points of view.

Market risk management and its implementation in industrial company
Klimša, Petr ; Paholok, Igor (advisor)
In my paper, I focuse on management of market risks, especially financial risks with great accent on monetary risk. In first part of my paper I devote to market risk management in a theoretical way. There is also description of internal and external management of exchange exposition. In the second part I concentrate on praktical implementation of risk management in the company Biocel Paskov a.s. Due to the fact that the company is strongly export oriented, monetary risk management is the key issue of financial stability and competitiveness.

Measuring and managing operational risk in the context fo Basel II
Patráková, Zuzana ; Teplý, Petr (advisor) ; Dědek, Oldřich (referee)
This thesis deals with measuring and managing operational risk in the context of Basel II. The main goal of this work is to analyze different methods for quantification of operational risk and evaluate which method is the most suitable according to its nature. This work outlines the milestones of Basel II, its goals and tools. It defines the operational risk and clarifies its categorization. This paper also concentrates on Basel Committee's requirements concerning the quantification methods and it discusses related problems. This work examines the widespread operational risk measurement approaches. Final part is devoted to operational risk management process. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
