Evil as privatio boni in the works of Aurelius Augustinus and Carl Gustav Jung
Malý, Jakub ; Halama, Jindřich (advisor) ; Fischer, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis deals with the question of evil as privatio boni according to the teachings of Augustine of Hippo and the conception of evil in the work of Carl Gustav Jung who denied this Augustine's teachings. In the thesis I analyze attitudes that adopt both thinkers to categories of good and evil in relation to impacts of their conceptions on understanding of God, self-understanding of man, of his life, death and salvation, further of the relation of God and man and the human moral responsibility before God and society. Augustine maintains that evil is an absence of good, but Jung thinks that the reality is put together from the balance of good and evil. Their attitudes I scarify with the aid of the secondary literature and the explanation of that biblical places that both thinkers refer to.

Abstract This paper attempts to map topic of illness and healing in ancient Israel from a biblical perspective. It focuses first on the Old Testament stories of healing by prophets and then on the New Testament stories when Jesus and his...

Wendelin, David ; Šturma, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Opatrný, Aleš (referee)
The thesis " Ministerial Priesthood as the Assisting Profession" introduces, in the first part, the general view of the assisting profession as a process having its input, stages, output and anticipated target. It shows the connection and similarity to other assisting professions associated with various difficulties and experience that may be beneficial for priesthood. The assistance provided using the means of the priesthood is perceived as a therapeutical process, the result of which shall be sanation - however, the debt is not understood to be an illness, but a sin, the sanation of which leads to redemption. The second part is focused on the specificity of the ministerial priesthood, while tracing it in the theology of the Gospel according to John, as well as in the historical context of the Czech territory, searching for similarities and differences of priesthood compared to other assisting professions. "In Love He Predestinated Us..." Predestination. Sain Paul, Saint Augustin and Vladimír Boublík
BRICHCÍNOVÁ, Kateřina
The doctrine of predestination in Western theology had for centuries been burdened by the dualistic conception of Saint Augustine. The bishop of Hippo held that it is God?s intention to reveal His mercy on a small number of those predestined to salvation and His justice on a far larger mass of rightly damned sinners. He came to be convinced that salvation is an utterly undeserved gift and consequently he negated the importance of human freedom. His interpretation would rather give rise to anxiety than the hope Scripture speaks about. Vladimír Boublík dared to oppose Augustine?s authority and presented an entirely different solution based on modern exegesis of the Pauline epistles. He defined predestination as an irreversible divine decision the content of which is the participation of all humanity on divine life in Christ. The present paper shows that Boublík?s theology stems from not just academic, but above all existential search for the answer to the question of human destiny marked with sin, suffering and death. It is already apparent on the pages of the spiritual diary the author kept during his studies. All his writing shows the intention to address his contemporaries and lead them to Christ who stands in the centre of the author?s thinking. This paper attempts to follow up on the work of the Czech exile theologian. It presents his conception of predestination and further develops it in some respects. Besides other things, it throws light on the previously unclarified problem of Christ?s primacy in predestination. Vladimír Boublík?s thesis is confronted with objections that have been raised against it and its content is compared with the content of today?s contribution to the topic.
