The engineer of human souls as pars pro toto of Josef Škovrecký's literary work
Hladík, Filip ; Špirit, Michael (advisor) ; Holý, Jiří (referee)
The present thesis deals with the work of Josef Škvorecký as a whole. In doing this, we aim to define specific plot sequences, narrative techniques, recurrent motifs etc. Simultaneously, the relations between single texts become clearer. The author offers a possible fictional world in each of his literary pieces. However, their perspectives often coalesce while the author deliberately alludes to events and occurrences known from his previous books, giving the reader a chance to link the items of the fictional worlds together. Using identical or very similar singularities, the author creates an "intertextual literary world", a self-contained macrocosm of sorts that should be as homogenous as possible. His plots have constant settings; his books include the same characters, his topic sequences are similar etc.¨ Obviously, Škvorecký attempts to create a homogenous macrocosm consisting of his texts. Bearing that in mind, we nevertheless regard every Škvoreckýs work as a self-contained fictional world. This approach is shown in the thesis e.g. on the motif of Kostelec as the hometown of different characters named Danny Smiřický. Each Danny is a specific singularity; we can follow their different perspectives in the fictional worlds of single texts. Certain lines of the characters development are closer, such as...

Atlantes and caryatids in Prague
Čečrdle, Jan ; Líbal, Patrik (referee) ; Bouzek, Jan (advisor)
Diploma work "Atlantes and Caryatids in Prague" deals with tradition, transition, specific development a shape varieties of elements taken from antique architecture - atlantes and caryatids. For deep comprehension of the whole development, first it's necessary show and understand origins and significance of these elements in antiquity itself. It's also shown a first age of copying and imitating of old models. Original caryatids were dancers of Artemis cult in a village called Karyai (Peloponnésos). Placing human figures in architecture is of older date than story of treachery of Karyai's citizens (Vitruvius), from which is derived placing them under an entablature as an expression of a punishment (in place of columns). Further, both stories are merging. E.g. in case of Erechtheionkorai we can speak of placing them for honor. Mothological origins of Atlant is well-known and placing him into architecture is logical. In hellenistic times were made o lot of reminiscences of old statues (copies or rather mixing of different sources) which can be considered as a first large wave of historism in development of figural supports. We can point out thesauroi of Cnidus and Siphnus in Delphi (the oldest caryatids) and Zeus Temple in Agrigento (the oldest atlantes). The most important classicizing varieties are from...

Ergodic Theory
Lisko, Adrian ; Hlubinka, Daniel (advisor) ; Štěpán, Josef (referee)
This Bachelor Thesis compiles basics of ergodic theory. Motivation for writing this text was interesting topic and linkeage between it and the mathematics already learned. The Thesis begins with defining measure-preserving transformations and continues with recurrence and Poincarré's recurrence theorem to ergodicity and Birkhoff's ergodic theorem and mixing. In the end, it is shown that Birkhoff's ergodic theorem generalizes Kolmogorov's strong law of large numbers for stationary random sequences. Theory is demonstrated on a handful of examples of basic transformations.

Influence of selenium compounds on proliferation of cell lines derived from colorectal carcinoma - comparison of used assays
Voráčová, Adéla ; Szotáková, Barbora (referee) ; Šimůnek, Tomáš (advisor)
autor: Adéla Voráčová název: Vliv sloučenin selenu na proliferaci buněčných linií izolovaných z kolorektálního karcinomu - srovnání vhodnosti použitých metod (Influence of selenium compounds on proliferation of cell lines derived from colorectal carcinoma - comparison of used assays) Diplomová práce Univerzita Karlova v Praze, Farmaceutická fakulta v Hradci Králové studijní obor: farmacie Abstract Selenium has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in both in vivo and in vitro models including colorectal cancer cells. The effect is dependent on the chemical nature and concentration of the selenium compound used in the study. This work compared the anti- proliferative effects of three selenium compounds, sodium selenite, seleno-L-methionine (SeMet) and Se-(Methyl)selenocysteine (SeMCys) on the colorectal cancer cell lines HT-29, SW480 and SW620, measured by WST, XTT, MTT, Brilliant blue (BB) and Neutral red (NR) assays. Cells were exposed to the selected selenium compounds in the concentration range of 0 - 256 μM during 48 hours. In all model cell lines, WST and XTT failed to detect cytotoxic effect, with the exception of the highest concentration of selenium compounds tested. Conversely, the metabolic activity of selenium treated cells measured by WST and XTT significantly increased in comparison to...

Clinical Application of Lung Function Testing in Children
Bašek, Pavel ; Kokštein, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Kopřiva, František (referee) ; Pohunek, Petr (referee)
SUMMARY: In my thesis I have been able to show important results from the clinical application of lung function testing in young children. Following children with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, we have shown that many survivors of CDH have significant respiratory problems. However, the continual growth of airways and lung corrects the initial pulmonary function deficit. In our study, we reported on exhaled nitric oxide in CDH survivors and found normal, non-elevated levels. Studying children with inflammatory bowel disease, unlike as a single published study in adults, we found elevated exhaled nitric oxide also in children with non-active inflammatory bowel disease. The fact that conventional analysis of spirometric parameters failed in predicting the course of asthma has motivated our group to next study. It was an intriguing observation, that the subjective analysis of clinical severity of obstructive lung disease can be correlated to the measurement of curvature by using a mathematical equation. Nitric oxide is an important mediator of inflammation in several pathological conditions and the tendency to measure exhaled nitric oxide under different conditions has reached the neonatal medicine also. The multiple- breath method allows sampling of exhaled air via side stream during tidal breathing in...

The topic of my bachelor's thesis is the employee motivation and benefits. The thesis is divided in two parts, a theoretical one and a practical one. The theoretical part deals with the theory of motivation and individual employee benefits. The practical part describes employee benefits in ČSOB, where I did my research by questionnaires that were filled in by employees from different departments of ČSOB. These employees answered questions about their work motivation and benefits. The resultts are presented in graphs and with a comments.

Touch of space
HORČIČKOVÁ, Jana
Anotation: Practical part of dissertation is composed by collection of paintings named {\clqq}Dotek prostoru`` (touch of space). It is collection of eight middle sized and large sized paintings. They are created by using of acrylic paint in combination with tempera paint on the fibreboard and pasteboard. Connecting themes of complete cycle are architectural elements characterized for every single period of creation from primeval ages to 20th century. Significant point of whole cycle is especially colourfulness of paintings with target to speak to onlooker and tune him to positive energy. This cycle should be in the future realized on the walls of public pedestrian zone which is daily used by tens of people. Theoretical part of dissertation deal with influence of architectural scene and colourfulness on the psyche of human. Refers to authors which are engaged in to this dilema. Further this dissertation present for readers closer look with single motives and describing artistic intention of synthesis between architectural branch and other branches of artistic art. Especially with painting style. Describing way and technology of fulfilment for selected motives and theirs realisation.
