The Oriental Institute in Prague: Cultural Department and the Orient

A substantial contribution to Oriental studies was founded with a new institution, the Oriental Institute. The idea was promoted by the Czechoslovak president T. G. Masaryk and by his advisor in Oriental politics, Alois Musil. The institute was financially supported by the ministry of Foreign trade, the main role played Minister Rudolf Hotowetz (first director of the Oriental Institute). The Oriental Institute was established in 1922 and financially and functionally stabilised in 1927/1928. There were no permanent salaried posts; however, the cultural section of the Institute financed publications and travel by means of fellowships and grants.

Health care professional as a patient

The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of a health care professional dealing with personal experience in a patient's role. The theoretical part presents facts associated with health and ilness psychology, as well as pieces of knowledge about human personality and a man's role in human society. It describes the special demands of general nurse's profession on a person. Special attention is paid to a situation when a nurse becomes a patient. The research part analyses the influnce of nurse's profession over her personal health and ilness perception. It describes difficulties that are experienced when a nurse is coping with her own hospital admission. The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether personal experience in a patient's role influences nurse's future life in any way.

Parallel single-cell analysis of active caspase-3/7 in apoptotic and non-apoptotic cells

Caspases are proteases that play key role in the process of apoptosis, the programmed\ncell death. Among them, caspase-3 and -7 are main executioner caspases that cleave\nmany vital proteins during apoptosis and after their widespread activation, the process\ncannot be reversed. To analyze caspase-3/7 activation within single cells, a miniaturized\ndevice for parallel analysis of eight samples was developed. The assay is based on the\nmodified luciferin-firefly luciferase bioluminescence (BL) system. Individual\nsuspended cells were collected and transferred into detection microvials using a\nmicromanipulator. The bioluminescence was detected using a photon counting head\nwith cooled photcathode. The LOD suitable for detection of active caspase-3/7 in both\napoptotic and non-apoptotic cells was reached.

The leveling of the newly stabilized elevation points in RA Detmarovice in 2016

In the northern area of mining areas Doubrava and Karvina mines on the border RA Detmarovice and Doubrava are implemented, the mining activities. For this reason, in order to detect possible effects of the mine to the surface and surface objects twice a year height focuses, points in this area stable. From 2014 he was a contractor for these works chosen by the Institute of Geonics, v.v.i., Ostrava. The measurement results are annually presented in the final report - elevation measurements in the northern area of mining areas Doubrava and Karviná Mines I. In 2016, the existing network of height points in a cadastral municipality Dětmarovice expanded by 11 new points. New points are stabilized by means of steel bench mark on objects. Elevation point near house No. 713 is a stabilized form of measuring support cast-in steel casing

Study of the composition and organization of cytochrome P450 system by covalent crosslinking

The system of mixed function oxygenase (MFO system) participates in significant roles in the metabolism of endogenous compounds and xenobiotics. This system contains cytochrome P450, NADPH:cytochrome P450 reductase, and also there are assigned NADH: cytochrome b5 reductase and cytochrome b5. It was proved that cytochrome b5 can stimulate or inhibit cytochrome P450 (CYP)-dependent reactions and even change the ratio of resulting metabolites. The mechanism of cytochrome b5 action has not been fully elucidated yet. Elucidation of protein-protein interactions in MFO system and determination of topology of this system could explain the mechanism of cyt b5 action. The covalent cross- linking technique is suitable method for identifying protein-protein interactions within the membrane. Cytochrome b5 contains 3 methionines and in 2 cases the methionines are localized in a short hydrophobic C-terminal membrane anchor. Interactions with cytochrome P450 in the membrane environment can be identified by substitution of two methionine for photoactivatable analogue of methionine (photo-methionine) and subsequent photoactivation. physical theaters and reveals the working and teaching methods in the

Mask, Disguise and Role Play in Worldwide Contemporary Self-Portrait

This bachelor thesis deals with the role of mask, disguise and playing with the roles through self-portrait in worldwide contemporary photography. In the first chapters it follows the general development of the self-portrait and a brief history of photography and its forms and tendencies from beginning to the present, it is also focused on the mask in general and role of masks and disguises in the history of photography. Main part of this work is the last chapter, which is devoted to the youngest generation of contemporary photographers. In their self-portraits we can follow tendency which reveals use of mask and disguise for change of their identity. However, they do not create a new identity but takes over, or form the illusion of existing already defined identities. The aim of this thesis is to present the mask as an instrument for role play through a self-portrait.

Comparison of cytokine production by leukocytes from newborns of healthy and allergic mothers

The increasing incidence of children suffering from allergic diseases could be caused by sensitization of immature immune system during the intrauterine development. Several important scientific papers have demonstrated the ability of cord blood cells to respond by elevated proliferation activity after stimulation by common allergens. Following these findings, present study follows the production of cytokines which play a role in the pro- and anti-allergenic tuning of the immune system. Umbilical cord blood cells were stimulated with polyclonal activators (phytohaemagglutinin) and common allergens (ovalbumin, timothy grass, birch, mite). Subsequently, cytokine production was monitored using selected methods that reflect different stages of cell activation - at the level of mRNA by quantitative real time PCR (qRT-PCR), by flow cytometry detection of the presence of intracellular cytokines in different cell subpopulations and by ELISA measurement of cytokines in CBMC culture supernatants. The results obtained point to a very weak ability of these common allergens (timothy grass, birch, mite, ovalbumin) to stimulate CBMC to produce cytokines observed by all of these methodological procedures. Association of Idependent Theatres of the Czech Republic – Analysis and Description of the Current State

The thesis is focused on newly established Association of Independent Theaters of the Czech Republic, officially using the abbreviation AND ČR. The aim of the thesis is to describe formation of the association, its current state, future plans and its functioning. The first part examines the term “independent professional theater” and briefly characterizes selected organizations from the Czech Republic and Europe with the potential to meet with the AND ČR in the cultural area in future. In the following parts were researched needs of independent professional scene in Prague and was described the needs analysis for the field of “independent” theater from the year 2013. The thesis describes the development of AND ČR, its activities up to current stage, organizational structure and future short-term plans. In the final part of the thesis, there is defined the management system of the association and established its possible improvements so the AND ČR would become the leading organization representing independent professional theaters in the Czech Republic.

Cultural support in Prague's districts

Diploma thesis ”Cultural support in Prague's districts” focuses on a current situation in municipal strategical management and support of culture in all Prague districts. The introduction emphasises the importance of each level of government in the management and support of culture through comparing specific cultural policies. The research is divided into two parts. First one depicts how culture is being understood on the municipal level and presents an overview of existing instruments for support and planning. The second part is focused on a few municipal districts that handle their culture policy with a particular strategy and consider it to be an irreplaceable part of a local development. The second part also examines what tactics and tools these municipal districts use for a realization of their strategic goals. In conclusion, this thesis proves why the role of the local official government is so important in the developement and implementation of culture.
