ABSTRACT: This thesis is focused on studentsʼ problem posing as an indicator of mathematical culture of lower secondary students. The theoretical background consists of research on problem posing, word problems in mathematics, mathematical culture and the Theory of didactical situations in mathematics. The goal of the thesis is to analyse links between problem posing and studentsʼ mathematical culture through the analysis and description of the posed problems. The thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and research part. In the theoretical part, there are the main findings about studentsʼ problem posing and some approaches to the concepts of word problems and mathematical culture, and the main concepts of the Theory of didactical situations used in the thesis. The research part starts with the analysis of the pre-experiment, which constitutes the basis for creation and characteristics of the conception of mathematical culture of problem posing. Solving strategies of word problems in their historical development

Title: Solving strategies of word problems in their historical development Abstract This thesis deals with word problems which can be solved by using linear equations. Its aim is to create a collection of current and historical problems selected from different periods of the history of mathematics. In the first part, the level of emphasis put on the use of word problems in the teaching of mathematics by the Framework Education Programme is shown.The contribution of word problems to developing mathematical and financial literacy is also highlighted The second part deals with the history of mathematics focusing on the domains of equations and word problems, both from a worldwide and Czech perspective. The third part is a collection of type problems. The problems are grouped according to context in the way it is usually done in Czech educational materials for primary and secondary schools: problems dealing with the division of a whole into unequal parts, problems dealing with movement, problems dealing with joint work and problems dealing with mixtures. The collection contains three types of problems. Current problems are adopted from contemporary textbooks and collections of problems for schools. Word problems with topics from chemistry

The thesis is focused on verbal tasks within the subject of chemistry and consists of several parts. The introductory chapter contains a definition of the concept of verbal task, including the basic division of tasks, then the stages of solving the general verbal task and the approach to the solving of verbal tasks with chemical issue is mentioned. The second part summarizes the most common verbal tasks with chemical issue, their theoretical chemical and mathematical basis and offers various ways of how these tasks can be solved. The third part of the paper includes tasks that are an extension of the first part and serves as a sample of interesting examples (also in the terms of mathematical procedures) that are solved in chemistry. The author of the paper tries to show and compare different procedures for solutions and their influence on the efficiency and speed of calculation.
Word problems in mathematics in the contex of Reading Literacy and Matthematical Literacy.

The aim of my work is to prove continuity of solving word problems in math within the context of reading and mathematical literacy. Ten word problems will be created with different mathematical content, with longer task for challenging reading literacy. For all problems will be stated the correct solution. In the practical part, the problems will be assigned to solve to selected pupils at selected schools. The results of their solution will then be analysed and published.

This bachelor thesis with the title Word tasks in arithmetic bases deals with the curriculum of the fifth and sixth grade of the primary schools. The main emphasis is put on the right exercise assignment which is achieved with the demonstration of the fact how small assignment modification can have influence on the solving of particular exercise. The thesis is divided according to particular thematic units and at the same time the exercise are ordered according to the relevant grade. The thesis stylization is composed from the beginning in the way that it can function as a teaching tool individually. There is an addition of many graphic illustration and pictures for better understanding in the thesis.

My bachelor´s thesis is a digest of word problems solved through equations. Word problems are on level of 8th a 9th classes of elementary school. The work is divided into two main parts, which are divided into another parts. Main parts contain theory, elaborate examples and examples with solutions. Some examples include pictures, which help to understand situations.
Word problems on the role of the primary school

The main object of my final work is creating worksheets for teaching ?Word problems? with the interactive whiteboard and using ICT (Information and Communication Technology) at a selected school. The thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical and a practical part. The first part deals with the use of ICT and interactive whiteboards in teaching mathematics. I also mention the concept of a textbook, interactive textbook and my own comparing textbooks. The second part of my thesis contains a workbook I have prepared to my own support teaching on the interactive whiteboard this application and individual examples. Then I occupy myself with application worksheets in teaching pupils in the 9th year of primary school. In conclusion I gave results and of knowledge that I acquired during my teaching.
Strategies for solving word problems in the course of study in primary school

The main aim of my thesis is the investigation and description of students' strategies for solving word problems at basic schools. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The first part describes the types of word problems at the basic school, pupils? and teaching strategies. There are also explained meaning of terms algorithms and didactic contract. There is also own confrontation of textbooks which are used at secondary schools. The theoretical part is formed the experiment that was performed at the second stage of a basic school in two parallel classes. In the experiment there were entered three types of identical tests for solving word problems. There is judged pupils? improvement, using different strategies and effect of algorithms and didactic contract. In conclusion there are summarized results and knowledge from the experiment.
