Electro Energy Market Organisation in the EU and the US
Zezula, Michal ; Němcová, Ingeborg (advisor) ; Abrhám, Josef (referee)
This diploma thesis analyses electro energy market organisation in the European Union and the United States of America. Liberalisation tendencies occurred in both areas during the 90's. The liberalisation is supposed to increase quality and reliability of electricity supplies as well as decrease electricity price. Electro energy industry belongs to the so called network industries, whose specifics prevent smooth liberalisation process. The vertically integrated companies or utilities in the US behave monopolistically on the market making the industry work inefficiently. Consequently, prices paid by customers are too high. The liberalisation should enable new participants to enter the market more easily as result of competition introduction and thereby also lead to pricing based on supply and demand interaction. The thesis also deals with price development in European and American areas liberalised to different extent. You can see number of similar tendencies and problems despite different way of electro energy market organisation in the EU and the US.
The Concept of Optimalization of Hospital Bed Fund in the Vysočina Region
Mlčák, Jan ; Lešetický, Ondřej (advisor) ; Dostál, Leoš (referee)
Thesis concentrates on theory and practical issues regarding hospital bed fund. In its theoretical part, the thesis describes reasons that lead to optimalization of hospital bed fund and methods used for calculation of suitable amount of hospital beds. In its practical part it focuses on a concept proposal of a hospital bed fund optimalization in the Vysočina region while calculating a minimal amount of hospital beds needed using deterministic methods arising from empiric formulas. This concept is then compared to already existing concept created by General Healthcare Insurance Company of the Czech Republic (in Czech: Vseobecna Zdravotni Pojistovna).
Innovation of information systems in enterprises, particularly in the utility market segment
Maloš, Martin ; Žid, Norbert (advisor) ; Tůma, Jiří (referee) ; Hübner, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis addresses the innovation of information systems in enterprises, particularly in the utility market segment. The thesis starts with a definition of utilities, a market segment containing companies involved in generation, transmission, distribution and retail of energy services as well as other companies providing related networked services. The aims of this thesis are both theoretical and practical. The theoretical part offers a new theory for IS innovations for the selected segment and for the relation between the innovation and the architectures of IS. In the practical part, the author identifies current challenges and opportunities in the selected market segment and offers scenarios and visions for future development. The first part of the thesis maps out the general innovation theories in the context of the selected topic. The second part introduces a new innovation theory based on an analysis of the specific conditions in the utility market segment. The next section focuses on the topic of IS architecture and its ability for tracking and managing the changes of the IS during the innovation process. The following part relays designs for specific architecture models supporting the current innovation trends in the utility market. The final part of the thesis summarizes particular business recommendations for innovation procedures in utilities, identifies innovation opportunities, and inspires visions for the future development of the market. The opportunities are related to a new way of understanding the role of IS in utility companies. IS provides a portfolio of information services to support the customer oriented business services, advanced services with added value and tailor made services for specific customer groups.

During the inquiry, neuroeconomics is applied and it's basic methods are presented. The concluding part describes ramifications of chosen approach.
The effect of information and communication technology on competitiveness of the Czech economy
Novák, Josef ; Novotný, Ota (advisor) ; Voříšek, Jiří (referee)
The advance of information and communication technology speeds up year by year. At the same time, methodologies for objective measurement of the benefits of ICTs are still lacking behind. This difference then forms a void of unsatisfied information requirements about the state of ICTs from a business as well as national economy's point of view. This thesis summarizes theoretical background about possible ways of viewing and measuring ICT benefits (be that benefits for a person, society as a whole or economy as a whole). The practical part of the thesis analyzes data describing the state of ICT sector in the Czech economy. The first part looks at ways of measuring ICT benefits as they are seen by a number of other authors and described in many studies. This provides a summary of the possibilities to consider when looking at our topic. The second part uses conclusions from previous works on similar topics to set some recommendations for policy improvement as well as social development that will enable maximizing the achieved utility of ICTs. Third part evaluates the position of ICT sector in the Czech Republic by analyzing basic statistical data about the economic and employment impact of all ICT firms as a whole. This is compared to other sectors of the Czech economy. Last part provides a detailed description of the process to calculate output and employment multipliers for all the sectors of Czech economy and then calculates these values according to the process. In the end, there is a summary of the theoretical and practical findings described in all preceding chapters.
An Extension of Line "A" of the Prague Metro to Ruzyně and Its Influence on Landscape Changes
Chotašová, Tereza ; Patočka, Jiří (advisor) ; Růžičková, Ivana (referee)
My essay briefly outlines the history of the Prague metro. Although I made reference to currently existing metro stations, I discussed the planned construction of extensions to the metro. The main focus of my work was on the projects to extend the "A" line all the way to Ruzyně airport. A portion of my work is based on a questionnaire. I asked questions in four places on the "A" line in Prague including future stations: at Dejvická, at Motol hospital, at the Dědina housing estate and the Ruzyně airport. In conclusion I evaluated the opinions of informants and presented my own opinion on the extensive construction to extend the "A" line all the way to the Ruzyně airport.
