Statistical analysis of the development of beekeeping in the Czech Republic and its prospects
Elizeus, Natálie ; Prášilová, Marie (advisor) ; Ivana, Ivana (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on beekeeping in the Czech Republic and provides an overview of the development and level of this important agricultural field. The thesis is analyzing the development of selected indicators that had an influence on level of beekeeping in our country in the years 1993-2015. The indicators that the thesis is focused on are numbers of beekeepers and bee colonies, production and consumption of honey, honey export and import and drawing grants. The Czech Republic is aware of the need to support beekeepers through grants for the reason that bees are able to pollinate plants, which is welcome for the agriculture. Bees pollinate about 85 % plants and provide honey and other products such as pollen, royal jelly, propolis, wax and bee venom, which are primarily used in cosmetics, pharmacology and food (processing) industry. The results of analysis of individual indicators serve as a basis for the creation of trends. For selected indicators there are also set out forecasts for future development for two years ahead. The thesis also includes processing and interpretation of the survey that has been carried out among beekeepers. At the end of the thesis there are formulated possible perspectives of beekeeping field and there are also expressed suggestions and recommendations for further development of this sector.
Causes of colony losses
Suchomelová, Eliška ; Titěra, Dalibor (advisor) ; Kamler, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the causes of bee colonies losses. In the last years the number of dead bee colonies increased significantly. Especially in the years 2013 and 2014, which this paper deals with, losses were really alarming (on the nationwide average up to 30%). The theoretical part of the paper firstly presents beekeeping in general. Then, the thesis deals mainly with diseases and parasites invading bee colonies. Lastly, the paper describes hygiene and good breeding practice, which helps to prevent diseases and which should be obvious to every beekeeper. The reason for this is the fact that by not following good breeding practice the beekeeper does not threaten not only his/her own breeding, but also the breeds of neighbouring beekeepers. The aim of the thesis is to compare beekeepers practice with the help of the data collected in questionnaires. The questions concern the varroasis disease, which afflicts the beekeepers in this country most often and which is (according to the latest researches) one of the main causes of bee colonies losses. Fifteen beekeepers filled in the questionnaire. None of them (with one exception) had great losses of bee colonies. Eleven respondents noted losses within 10%. The greatest losses noted the beekeeper owning the highest number of bee colonies. The beekeepers admitted one serious mistake, not following the information leaflet of medical products, which may have decreased the effectiveness of treatment. None of the respondents had removed the sealed brood before fumigation and aerosol treatment was done. Therefore not all mites in the hive could have been exterminated.
Registration of Business Activity of Beekeeper in Terms a Quantification the Income Tax Base
Bartošová, Barbora ; Kuchařová, Ivana (advisor) ; Lenka, Lenka (referee)
The objective of this Bachelor´s Thesis is to cover business beekeeping activities in order to define possibilities to determine an income tax basis of natural persons. The Thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical one. The theoretical part summarizes elementary findings on the ways to establish an income tax basis for natural persons. The issue is lump sum expenses, tax record keeping of income and expenses and bookkeeping. There is a description of division of entrepreneurs with an obligation to keep the books and without it. Furthermore, the following basic information is defined here: on apiarian products, on income tax of natural persons, on grants offered in the sphere of apiculture, and, last but not least, initial costs of a beekeeper owning two bee colonies. In the practical part of this Thesis, the three previously presented ways to determine an income tax basis of natural persons are demonstrated on model cases - lump sum expenses, tax records of income and expenses, and bookkeeping.
Species diversity and quality of honey available on the Czech market
TRMALOVÁ, Františka
This bachelor thesis describes the species diversity and the quality of honey, which is available on the Czech market. In the theoretical part I have focused mainly on physical and chemical properties, test methods and quality classification of honey. Furthermore, there are also legislative requirements for honey. In the practical part, I went to 3 shops, where I focused mainly on the correct information on the labels of honeys and then is assessed according to decree no. 76/2003 Coll., which sets the requirements for natural sweeteners, honey, sweets, cocoa powder and mixtures of cocoa with sugar, chocolate candies.

Economic and uneconomic estimation apicultural breeding of various sizes
BAZALOVÁ, Klára
In my diploma thesis I deal with agricultural, economic and ecological importance of beekeeping, based on observing the work of three beekeepers with different numbers of bee colonies. First I'm describing the importance of beekeeping, especially pollination, which represents economic benefits that include a variety of financial aid for beekeepers. A non-economic benefit involves mainly beekeeper's work during a year and the time spent with bees. The practical part of the work includes the assessment of financial and time requirements of the observed beekeepers' activities. The first beekeeper keeps eight bee colonies near the region of Kájov. The second beekeeper keeps fifty-five colonies at three different sites in the district of Český Krumlov. The sites are placed at distance of a few tens of kilometres. He is also engaged in keeping certified mothers and bee unions for sale. The third beekeeper has one hundred and eighty colonies which are located at four sites in the district of Český Krumlov within a radius of roughly eighteen kilometres. I have become familiar with the work of these three beekeepers, the economic results from the products obtained and costs used, and the time required by working with bees.
Monitoring biological activity honeybees
MACHART, Luboš
This thesis deals with monitoring the biological activity of bees. Its main part is to find and investigate the condition of the field and using questionnaire survey. This survey, I applied for a sufficient number of respondents and by its evaluation optimize and proposed appropriate solutions for monitoring the volume of honey produced in the hives. Interview I end-Rolling so that the resulting solution can be as much closer to the market and thus enable monitoring thread hives remotely as many beekeepers. Data transmission equipment so I chose according to clearly defined criteria. The resulting proposal would allow for further refinement into practice and continue research with interesting data.
Beekeeping as leisure activities and its share in personality and social education of children and young people
CAFOURKOVÁ, Marie
The thesis focuses on a beekeeping hobby group as a leisure-time activity which not only develops and deepens interest in a specific area, but also focuses on the development of social and personal skills and competencies which are needed not only for future work in beekeeping, but also for solving difficult situations in the working life and in the personal life of children and the youth. The theoretical part describes key terms needed for understanding the following part of the thesis. It also characterizes beekeeping hobby groups in general. The source of information in this part are two questionnaires. The first one was sent out by the leader of a beekeeping hobby group, Mr Oldřich Suchohradský, in 2011, the second one was sent out by the present author a year later. The last chapter of the theoretical part, which is also the last chapter of this bachelor thesis, describes the structure of a number of selected meetings of a particular beekeeping hobby group ? they are described in greater detail in the appendices. In the practical part (in the individual appendices), the present author attempts to present a methodical instrument for leaders of beekeeping hobby groups. Its main concern are the basic skills and competencies belonging to personal and social education. This methodological section has two parts. The first part briefly describes the skills and competencies which were the focus of the selected meetings. The latter part deals with the place of the particular skills and competencies in the programme of a hobby group. It presents model meetings of a beekeeping hobby group which are structured so as to facilitate both the the transfer of beekeeping skills and competencies and the development of personal and social competencies. The main goal of using these model meetings is to enable a beekeeping hobby group to facilitate, supplement and deepen the development of the individual components of a child?s personality.
