Next Generation of Fedora MediaWriter
Gasta, Evžen ; Kolář, Dušan (referee) ; Regéciová, Dominika (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to create new version of tool Fedora Media Writer, used for creating bootable USB with operating system Fedora. Main purpose of this rework is support of native look on operating systems Windows and MacOS. New version of framework Qt is able to do that. The result is new look of aplication with other upgrades. Benefit of this bachelor thesis is actualization open source aplication, about which was community interested in. Final aplication allow to use Fedora Media Writer with native design on different operating systems.
Solution proposal for migrating from a Windows to a Linux based server environment
Vyjídák, Tomáš ; Tomek, Jiří (referee) ; Neuwirth, Bernard (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis engages in a proposal for a Linux based server environment, in a company infrustructure that is based on client desktops with Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, as a substitution for Microsoft Windows Servers serving as domain controller and groupware servers.
Driver design for custom analog user module in Linux OS
Brejcha, Martin ; Sysel, Petr (referee) ; Molnár, Karol (advisor)
This master's thesis describes how to develop loable kernel module for operating system Linux. Module can be use like driver for concrete hardware device. In this case for telecommunication hardware. The second part of this thesis describes how to implement support for this hardware in Asterisk PBX. Support in Asterisk is realized by channel module. In that channel module are implemented functions for process incoming and dialed calls.
Memory Management in Linux
Tuček, Jaroslav ; Kočí, Radek (referee) ; Vojnar, Tomáš (advisor)
This work describes the memory manager subsystem of the linux kernel. The first part gives a brief account of operating systems architecture and memory management theory - of virtual memory management, page tables, page replacement algorithms and kernel allocators in particular. The second part discusses the actual implementation of these principles in a modern kernel - in linux. Finally, a series of tests stressing the memory subsystem is conducted to determine the memory manager's real behaviour. Limitations of the current linux kernel memory management and some of their proposed solutions are also discussed.
Methods of Linux Kernel Hacking
Procházka, Boris ; Malinka, Kamil (referee) ; Vojnar, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the Linux kernel security from the attacker perspective. It tries to identify and map all key features and methods used by nowadays cyber-terrorists. One of its aims is to give a comprehensive overview of this topic. At final, it can serve as a small reference for everybody who wants to broaden his knowledge of Linux kernel security. The work consists of four parts. The first part repeats and defines basic notions and taxonomy of operation systems. The second and third part form the core. They cover principles and methods used to hide processes, files, connections, etc. The last chaper is devoted to related issues. A supplement of this bachelor thesis is a set of demonstrating modules, which implement discussed problems involved, and tables, where can be found a comparison of nowadays rootkits.
Rootkit for MS Windows
Trutman, Michal ; Tomec, Martin (referee) ; Procházka, Boris (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with methods of attack on MS Windows operating system and maps techniques of resources hiding used by existing rootkits. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The first part covers classification of the rootkits, introduces the structure of the system kernel and then describes various techniques of attacking the system. In the practical part is described implementation and testing of my own rootkit.
Linux VPN Performance and Optimization
Network attacks of Linux operating system
Valčák, Richard ; Janovič, Filip (referee) ; Pelka, Tomáš (advisor)
Main objective of this bachelor thesis is to inform with the most famous security attacks, describe their characteristics, evaluate risk degree and suggest security against of these attacks. The bachelor work presents theoretical and practical part focused on security attacks of Linux operational system. First chapters describe operational system security shell theory. Followed by the most frequent attacks like Buffer overflow, ARP Cache poisoning, SYN flood , Denial of Service, DHCP, which are described theoretically, demonstrated by these examples and possible security assignment against this attacks registered. Basic theoretical system Linux knowledge is necessary for the practical part of the bachelor thesis.
Dynamic Security Policy Enforcement on Android
Vančo, Matúš ; Malinka, Kamil (referee) ; Aron, Lukáš (advisor)
This work proposes the system for dynamic enforcement of access rights on Android. Each suspicious application can be repackaged by this system, so that the access to selected private data is restricted for the outer world. The system intercepts the system calls using Aurasium framework and adds an innovative approach of tracking the information flows from the privacy-sensitive sources using tainting mechanism without need of administrator rights. There has been designed file-level and data-level taint propagation and policy enforcement based on Android binder.
Control of Embedded System Through Internet
Horák, Jakub ; Podivínský, Jakub (referee) ; Dobai, Roland (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to enable a regular user to control the embedded system on Xilinx Zynq, which will include audio codec ADAU1761. In the thesis I will describe what is required to connect the device to the Xilinx Zynq platform. After that, the device’s control through Internet will be described, followed by the design and implementation of an application that will allow the user to interact with the device.
