Optimalization of Intake Manifold for SI Engine
Vondráček, Václav ; Vančura, Jan (referee) ; Beran, Martin (advisor)
The main aim of this diploma thesis is to design two different types of air throttles in the intake manifold and compare their influence on a loss of dynamics of the flow of drawn air. The main purpose is to compare the mass flow for wholly opened air throttle. It deals with creating CDF model of intake manifold by using 3D scanner Atos and software Pro/Engineer WF5. During the work, the results of the CFD analysis were used for a real testing.
Modeling of Exhaust Manifold for Turbocharged Engine
Fanta, Tomáš ; Beran, Martin (referee) ; Svída, David (advisor)
This work describes different structural designs of the exhaust manifold and creation of parametric models of exhaust downpipes of supercharged engine 1,4 TSI. Next, the study deals with exhaust manifold’s materials and with present basic principles of thermodynamic and hydrodynamic. Then two parametric models were modelled in Solidworks software. First model was made according to existing exhaust manifold of engine 1,4 TSI. It was symmetrical model (collector in the axis). For second parametric model the collector was moved in horizontal direction, so this model is asymmetrical. Both models were evaluated considering their complexity of structural design and their manufacturing claims. Finally the possibility of CFD analysis for evaluation of parametric models was studied.
Vane pump
Mach, Jiří ; Jandourek, Pavel (referee) ; Klas, Roman (advisor)
This work gives basic information about vane pumps, especially with unbalanced construction and vanes led by rotor. The first chapter generally gives an attention to pumps. There are described basic information, classification, advantages and disadvantages of the types, characteristics and calculation relations. The following chapters describe the vane pumps in the way of classification, description of function and calculation relations. There is also made a practical calculation of vane pump according to the assignment accompanied by CFD analysis.
The flow of mixture vapors in the athmospheric column, comparison of new distributor and new tray
Říha, Zdeněk
The description of CFD analysis and the description of mixture gas flow in the atmospheric column are listed in the report. This article builds on previous work [1]. There were calculated two cases with original distributor and with GT-OPTIFLOW distributor, see [1]. This article adds next two cases. The case with adjusted GT-OPTIFLOW distributor (enclosure 1) and adjusted GT-OPTIFLOW distributor with newly designed the chimney tray and new layout of the packing bed (enclosure 2). The flow area of the newly designed chimney tray is smaller than for previous design (5,36m2 vs. 6,89m2). New layout of the packing bed has smaller flow area (28,27m2 vs. 29,35m2) and higher pressure drop (129 Pa vs. 80Pa) in comparison with last design of the packing bed also used in [1].
Forces and Moments in CFD Analysis
Říha, Zdeněk ; Foldyna, Josef
The paper shows how to find the force point of action, when we know the total force and the total moment. It is usual case if we solve fluid flow with help of a CFD code. Correct interpretation of force´s act is very important for next possible analysis.
Výpočetní analýza potenciálu kavitační eroze v hydraulickém stroji
Sedlář, M. ; Zima, Patrik ; Müller, M.
The paper describes a new model for efficient modeling of water cavitation erosion potential in turbulent cavitating flow. The number and size of the cavitation nuclei in the inlet flow are predicted empirically or experimentally using the acoustic spectrometer. The bubble dynamics is described using the Rayleigh-Plesset equation along the flow streamlines obtained from the 3D RANS equations. The model of the erosion potential is based on the estimation of the energy dissipated by the collapses of the cavitating bubbles. The paper also describes the experiment carried out in the cavitation tunnel in the SIGMA R&D Institute. The CFD model is tested for 2D and 3D geometry. It is shown that the erosion potential of the first collapses is several orders higher than the potential of the subsequent collapses. The numerically determined location and magnitude of the first collapses are compared with the photographs of the erosion pattern. The agreement for the tested cases is very good.
