Individual planning as a tool of quality increasing social service of personal assistance in people with disability and seniors in Praha
SEDLÁKOVÁ, Kateřina
This diploma thesis is concerned with individual planning with regard to the social service of personal assistance. The theoretical part contains a description of the origin and history of personal assistance in the world and in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part elaborates in detail on the no. 5 standard of quality of services provided and its four criteria. It also provides an overview of existing approaches toward individual planning of the social service of personal assistance for the target group of people with physical disabilities and seniors, including their positives and negatives, which the system of individual planning brings to providers of the social service of personal assistance and its users. The diploma thesis had two goals. The first was to ascertain the value of individual planning for users of the social service of personal assistance. The second was to assess the benefits that individual planning brings to organizations that provide the social service of personal assistance to people with serious physical disabilities and seniors with regard to improving the efficacy of the work of their employees. The practical part is based on qualitative research, with the main method of data collection being semi-structured interviews. The results showed that users do not see a major change in the way personal assistance is provided after the introduction of the individual planning system when compared to the situation before. Users mainly appreciated the fact that assistants are well-prepared even before the provision of assistance starts. This factor was unequivocally praised as a positive and a reason why individual planning should be introduced. In conclusion, the only negative aspect of individual planning for the employees was considered to be a higher administrative load, which, however, they were able to handle in the end, according their responses. On the other hand, both groups considered the greater level of preparedness of the social workers ? personal assistants during their social work a big benefit.
Significance of socio-medical assistance services for families of affected senior
HELEBRANDOVÁ, Lucie
Abstract: I have chosen a subject matter which is focused on care for seniors who are not self-sufficient as a topic of my bachelor thesis. Due to the fact that I have looked after my relatives whose self-sufficiency was cut down for their health this topic is close to my heart. This gained experience together with the specialisation I have been studying became the main reason I have chosen such topic for my bachelor thesis. This bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part was divided into four basic chapters. In the first chapter there are the present state of the population of seniors, the role of the state and a status of seniors in our society described. The second chapter follows up and is focused on aging and an old age itself. The third chapter deals with social policy and a system of social services in our society. The fourth chapter deals with the theoretical significance of social care services particularly care services and personal assistance for families with seniors who are not self-sufficient. In particular I have focused on what kind of help is provided to families by each of the two services. The second part of the thesis is a qualitative research which helped to fulfill the objective of this thesis. The subject of the research was to determine the extent to which these services are being used and their relevance for families with chronically ill or differently disadvantaged seniors. The purpose of the survey was to obtain reactions and responses to the question: "What is the importance of social and health care services and personal assistance for families with seniors who are not self-sufficient." The research was focused on individuals and families who care for their loved ones and relatives of an old age who are partially or fully dependent on the assistance of another person. These were just caring family members who were using a day care or personal assistance. In order to obtain the necessary information I have chosen an individual interview method. Through this I could direct research participants in the debate to the subject matters that had helped to clarify goals of this thesis. The survey has resulted in to the summary of the results. The results were formulated on the basis of the recorded reactions of the respondents at first in general and then in the tables. The acquired knowledge became the basis for the formulation of a clear appreciation of the research. There was also evaluated the objective of the thesis and given an answer to my research question. In most cases, the main significance of care services and personal assistance was found in the fact that families are more or less able to keep living standard not only of their own but mainly of a caring person. For a family it is usually very important, to keep a good quality of life to the caring person for this reason it tries with the help of social services to provide maximum in health and social area to seniors. The importance of these two social services also lies in the fact that a family member who is not self-sufficient has the option to stay in his natural home environment surrounded by his relatives. Caregivers have space to have a rest and to recover as well as some time needed to process personal and work matters. Social services can make shared lives of the elderly, who is not self-sufficient, and his entire family easier.

The importance and possibilities of personal assistance with school integration of handicapped children.
MRÁČKOVÁ, Iva
The bachelor thesis deals with importance and possibilities of personal assistance in school integration of handicapped children. A partial objective was to map such personal assistance activities with handicapped children who are integrated in nursery and primary schools in the South Bohemian Region. The research confirmed No. 1 hypothesis that those handicapped children who had personal assistants could integrate better into the group. It can be seen that a personal assistant is necessary for children with serious handicap. No. 2 hypothesis that competences of a personal assistant and educational assistant are mixed in every day practice was confirmed as well by both the results of the questionnaire examination and on the basis of interviews with assistant supervisors and the SPC worker. Job descriptions of both kinds of assistance are strictly specified. Integrated handicapped pupils´ needs can be fully satisfied only by combination of both the services. The goal of the personal assistance social service is to integrate handicapped children into their healthy peers at common schools. Such a personal assistant should compensate a pupil´s handicap in activities which the children cannot do themselves, help them in development of his/her personality and in satisfying their social needs. I believe such assistant´s work is very useful and that´s why handicapped children´ parents should be informed how to use it.
Guidelines for social services providers of custodia assistance
ČERNÝ, Jiří
The bachelor work is aimed at a social service of Personal Assistance and providers of this service. It processes information concerning both users and providers of the social service. The theoretical part of the bachelor work deals with a history of the social care in the Czech Republic, further it characterizes Personal Assistance and in the end it explains conditions of a rendition of Personal Assistance after the change of the Act on the social services. That part should serve as a basis for a manual for future and current providers of Personal Assistance. A goal of the practical part of the bachelor work was to chart providers of the social service of Personal Assistance in the territory of the capital of Prague and to find out what problems they had to settle after the change of the Act No. 108/2006 of Collection of Laws, on social services. To get information on the given problem I used a methodology of a quantitative research {--} a technique of a controlled interview. I spoke with headmen of Personal Assistance personally and in case of a lack of time in organizations I chose a telephone interview. Of course I tried to prefer an option of a personal meeting which takes effect more credibly and that way it is possible to get more valuable pieces of information. Results of this work indicated that the established legislature of the Act No. 108/2006 of Collection of Laws, on social services, has mainly a negative influence on the providers of Personal Assistance. The practice progressively shows all matters the users and the social service providers have to meet, what is not exactly determined and defined in the Act. Let us hope it will come about a positive feedback of the Act Amendment coming into force from August 1st, 2009. Three hypotheses follow from research questions of the practical part concerning conditions of a registration: 1. {\crq}qOrganizations providing the social service of Personal Assistance have not been satisfied with conditions how to obtain the service registration{\crq}q. 2. ``The financial situation of providers has a negative influence on a range of the social service of Personal Assistance{\crq}q. 3. ``An amount of the care contribution significantly constrains the users from an exploitation of the social service of Personal Assistance{\crq}q. Results of the research will serve to an increasing of knowledge of the above mentioned issues and it will be appreciated both by providers of social services and by the people engaged in the social service.

Personal assistance (PA) is one of types of comprehensive care of people with health handicap, but it is very special, because client himself chooses type, extent and use of care. Without PA services, client would be dependent to live permanently in a treatment institution, where he would be nursed. At the beginning this essay informs readers about PA Tudory. On the first pages information concerning users and providers of this social service are elaborated. Further an author considers a new law Code Number 108/2006 Coll. about social services, valid from 1/1/2007, where the assistance is mentioned for the first time. On the other pages he describes changes, which the new law brings either for providers or users of PA. Mapping and definition of problems concerning this social service is a main intent of this essay. Autor tried to compare opinions of clients and their dependants with personal assistants´opinions, if each of mentioned groups understands problems equally or differently. Readers should among others learn what this profession means and make a picture how assistance runs and which person is able to pursue it. Asset of this essay is even bigger by enactment of the new law about social services and because of this, new problems in providing this services have arisen.
