Dogbe, Daniel Sunkwa Quarcoco ; Šiška, Jan (advisor) ; Novosad, Libor (referee)
This qualitative small-scale case study is on "An Analysis of the Special Education Needs (SEN) Degree Programme of the Department of Special Education at Charles University in Prague". It was conducted between February and July 2010 to gain deep understanding into how teachers of learners with special needs are educated in the Czech Republic and to find out how the programme is promoting inclusive education in the country. The literature review on teacher education and special education needs underscored the importance of the topic in the new millennium as many governments and ministries through their faculties of education in universities are coming up with strategies to ensure the achievement of "education for all" by 2015. I administered semi-structured interview to 3 lecturers including a retired professor of the Department and an official from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports; questionnaire to 15 final year students selected through purposive sampling and reviewed official legal documents to gather data for the study. I analysed the data thematically using triangulation method to enhance the credibility and trustworthiness of the study. The results revealed that the programme comprises both theory and practicum components which are blended to produce competent graduate teachers. The...

Essays on Competition and Entrepreneurial Choice between Nonprofit and For-profit Firms
Brhlíková, Petra ; Ortmann, Andreas (advisor) ; Schlesinger, Mark (referee) ; Handy, Femida (referee)
In my four dissertation essays I focus on the entrepreneurial motivations to enter the nonprofit sector, the objectives of nonprofit institutions, and the competition between nonprofit and for-profit firms within an industry. The literature review looks at the nonprofit sector in a more general way, touching on its size and importance to society, its focus the characteristics that distinguish it from the for-profit sector. To motivate three theoretical chapters, I survey the literature on managerial motivations to enter the nonprofit sector, objective functions that nonprofits pursue, and mixed competition. Two theoretical essays explore competition between one nonprofit and one for-profit firm in the market for an excludable public good. The two competing firms follow different objectives and face different constraints and both optimize with respect to quality and price. Consumers are heterogeneous with respect to quality. The firms' behavior in mixed competition is compared to the nonprofit duopoly and for-profit duopoly. Among other results, the model reveals that the nonprofit firm is a natural leader in the market. The for- profit firm prefers a nonprofit competitor to a for-profit one, and it is better off when its nonprofit competitor is efficient and subsidized. The robustness of these...

Optimalizace manipulace s materiálem v zemědělském podniku
Kovář, Martin
This thesis is focused on the optimization of material handling on the farm as a set of measures that lead not only to increase the efficiency of utilization of handling equipment , but also the effectiveness of management activities on the farm. The first part briefly describes the current state of agriculture in the Czech Republic , provides an overview of materials handling and agricultural transport systems. Another important part is the review of literature on economics and farm management . In the practical part of the thesis deals with the analysis of industrial activity in a particular company . Based on the evaluation of analysis lines for silage harvest is then evaluated the effect of the type of kit -hour performance and fuel consumption . The conclusion then discussed the results of work and proposals to increase the competitiveness of the reporting enterprise.

HDR Image Artifact Compensation

Material characterization of novel hydrogels containing humic substances intended for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications
Pavlicová, Renata ; Weidlich, Tomáš (referee) ; Sedláček, Petr (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the development and characterization of hydrogels containing humic substances with possible use in cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. This work follows on the bachelor thesis, theoretical and experimental part is based on already acquired knowledge. The aim of this work was to develop a literature review focusing on the potential use humic gels in practice and also to enhance the consistency of other active ingredients. Based on this literature review, the main aim was to prepare model humic hydrogels with selected active ingredients and their characterization by basic methods of material analysis. These basic methods were especially rheology and visual assessment of consistency during the preparation, then the samples were subjected process of drying and swelling. Experimental results showed considerable influences during the preparation and composition of each sample, which then reflected in their structure and consistency. Furthermore, it was found that the suitable composition and combination of ingredients form hydrogels acceptable characteristics for further use in cosmetic or pharmaceutical applications.

Wihan Quartet
Růžková, Monika ; Štraus, Ivan (advisor) ; Štraus, Ivan (advisor) ; Hůla, Pavel (referee) ; Panocha, Jiří (referee)
This bachelor thesis has the main purpose in Wihan Quartet, one of the best nowadays string quartet. I write about the group's rise, its successes in competitions, wide concert, recording and pedagogical activities. The list of repertoir and discography is included. Leos Cepicky, the quartet's first violinist, has helped me during the formation of this work. He has been describing everything from the ensemble's history to me personally. All the informations are therefore more than authentic. The Wihans gave me source materials (concerts' programms, reviews from the newspapers and magazines, photos etc.), which are also presented. Among others I took informations from the Wihans' documentary DVD by the director Alice Nellis, which was made on the occasion of the complete concert performance of the Beethoven's string quartets in 2008. DVD is attached.
