Obstacles to waste sorting of households in Southern Bohemia

Waste sorting and recycling has come to the fore in the last decades in all European countries. The main reason is a necessity to reduce the total amount of waste landfilled without further use. The aim of waste management is to reduce formation of waste and handling with waste for its maximum utilization as a raw material and minimal encroachment to environment. This bachelor's work deals the waste sorting of household and an obstacles in waste separation in households. The work is divided into two main parts. The first, theoretical part, contains a summary of information about the history of waste management and legislation from the European Union level to the regional and municipal planning of waste management and waste management of waste producers itself. The practical part of this work examines through a questionnaire survey the attitudes of the population to waste sorting and influences that may encourage waste sorting or conversely hinder from it. The results demonstrated that the majority of population understands the importance of waste separation and recycling. On the other hand, there is a scope for raising awareness about the usefulness of utilization of recycled materials. Therefore the conclusion summarizes some of the main issues and suggestions for promoting waste separation.

Energy utilization of the biodegradable component of municipal waste in the city of České Budějovice

My thesis is aimed at the possiblities of collecting and utilizing the biodegradable component of municipal waste in the specific environment of České Budějovice. The thesis includes a proposal to construct a municipal biogas plant to decrease the volume of mixed municipal waste. The goal of this part of the thesis is to compare expected costs and income of the project and determine the general economic indicators and evaluate the investment, so that the project can be either fully recommended or rejected.

Use of recyclable waste activities in kindergarten

The bachelor´s thesis deals mainly with the methods of waste recycling and processing thereof at kindergartens. The first theoretical part describes the classification, separation and recycling of waste. The theoretical part is dedicated to the methods of sorting and recycling of waste and the incorporation thereof in the environmental education in kindergartens, in the Framework Educational Program for Preschools, and also describes the waste management issues. The practical part contains a summary of the answers obtained from the questionnaires aimed at the waste management area and offers the options of the use of recycled waste material in visual art activities suitable for preschool children, and describes some implementation practices and a project aimed at waste recycling.

Legislative problematics of rubber waste processing

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of rubber waste legislative focusing on waste tyres. The aim of the thesis is a thorough analysis of current legislative including newly prepared alterations with emphasis on specific lingering problems. A project of secondary material recycling, which has been created in current legal conditions, will be introduced. The project is assessed in terms of project managment methodology and the thesis concludes by suggesting an ideal project managment approach for realization of similar projects. Close cooperation has been established during realization of the project. At the same time, relevant government offices have been asked for information on the legislative and the whole issue has been consulted with respective offices. The introduction of the thesis familiarizes readers with basic points connected with project managment and tyres characteristics. Subsequently the relevant legislative related to waste tyres is mapped. The last part of the thesis is devoted to secondary material recycling project and its conclusion suggests the course of each of the project's life cycle stage using knowledge of project managment.

The hazards of soil pollutants and their effects on the human health

Good soil condition belongs to the basic requirements of well-ballanced environment. That is why the soil has to correspond to hygienic requirements and be protected against substances harmful to human health, e.g. toxic materials, germs of transmissible illnesses and parasites. The most common cause of soil contamination is anthropogenic incidence. Contaminated soil belongs to waste and has to be removed in a proper way. is A special way of waste removal is soil decontamination. Its goal is to remove harmful substances and regain the original use of the soil.

Aktivity EU v oblasti odpadů a jejich implikace pro vybrané státy EU a Českou republiku

Práce zpracovává téma aktivit Evropské unie v oblasti odpadového hospodářství a implikaci unijní legislativy v podmínkách národních právních řádů ve vybraných členských státech EU (Velká Británie, Německo, Belgie, Švédsko, Španělsko, Francie, Itálie a Česká republika). Soustředí se především na oblast sběru, zpracování a likvidaci komunálního odpadu, odpadu z obalů, elektrických zařízení a autovraků. Dále se zabývá analýzou podmínek pro skládkování v jednotlivých členských státech.
