High night temperature-induced accelerated maturation of rice panicles can be detected by chlorophyll fluorescence
Šebela, David ; Quiňones, C. ; Olejníčková, Julie ; Jagadish, K. S. V.
Rice panicle maturation is considered to be highly sensitive to environmental conditions. Since one of the factors accompanying global climate change is increases in minimum night temperatures more pronounced than those in maximum day temperatures, the effect of high night temperature (HNT) on rice panicle maturation was investigated. Two rice genotypes with contrasting HNT responses, N22 (highly tolerant) and Gharib (susceptible), were exposed to control temperatures (ca 23°C) and HNTs (ca 29°C) from flowering until maturity. Loss of photosynthetic activity and/or pigments during rice panicle maturation were evaluated temporally by measuring (i) effective quantum yield of photosystem II efficiency (ΦII), and (ii) steady-state chlorophyll fluorescence level (FS). To prove the accuracy of the new approach presented in this study, several vegetative indices were calculated from reflectance measurements and correlated with fluorescence parameters. It has been observed that ΦII tracks the accelerated maturation of rice panicles exposed to HNT better than does FS. Employing a newly identified chlorophyll fluorescence-based parameter could potentially enable larger genetic diversity scans and identification of novel genotypes with longer panicle maturation periods so as to increase rice yields directly under field conditions.

Calculation of Acceptance Sampling Plans for Inspection by Variables
Kaspříková, Nikola ; Klůfa, Jindřich (advisor) ; Dittrichová, Eva (referee) ; Slavík, Václav (referee)
Analysis of several acceptance sampling procedures is performed and improvement of the procedures is sug- gested in this thesis. The issue of an efficient calculation of exact (P1, P2) single sampling plans for sampling by variables and exact LTPD and AOQL single sampling plans for sampling by variables when the rejected lots are inspected is addressed. The calculation of the plans is done using exact formula for operating characteristic of acceptance sampling plan and the new plans have better characteristics compared to the plans computed in a usual way using just approximately valid formula for operating characteristic. The tables of plans calculated according to procedures suggested in this thesis are provided for a couple of input parameters combinations. Tools designed for working with acceptance sampling plans, tools for analysis and calculation of acceptance sampling plans is one of the outputs of this thesis. R language and environment for statistical computations was chosen for implementation. The tools are satisfactorily efficient and may be easily used even for acceptance sampling plans tables computation. Newly defined functions in R are supplied including their source code and basic documentation so that acceptance sampling plans can be computed as demanded in case that the particular input parameters set is out of the scope covered in the tables of plans provided here.

Recent Trends in the Housing Market
Tsharakyan, Ashot ; Zemčík, Petr (advisor) ; Laurin, Frédéric (referee) ; Gilbert, Scott (referee)
In my dissertation I focus on exploring the major aspects of real estate markets' development over the last fifteen years. The dissertation includes theoreticalas well as empirical analysis of US and Czech real estate marketand consists of 4 chapters. In the first chapter the aggregate welfare effects of housing price appreciation in the presence of binding constraints are analyzed. The additional beneficial effect of housing price appreciation in the form of relaxation of credit constraints and opportunity for better consumption smoothing is taken into account when calculating the welfare effects of housing price appreciation. The effects of housing price appreciation are analyzed using both a model with exogenous housing prices based on previous literature as well as a newly developed model with endogenous housing prices. The second chapter explores theaggregate welfare effects of housing price changes in a stochastic general equilibrium framework with heterogeneous agents. The household sector in this model consists of two types of households, namely credit constrained and unconstrained ones, which differ both with respect to their time preferences as well as the structure of assets they own. The model also includes multi-sector production side and several sources of exogenous stochastic shocks....

Electrostatic Deflection and Correction Systems
Badin, Viktor ; Oral, Martin (referee) ; Zlámal, Jakub (advisor)
The aim of this master's thesis is to explore and study dynamic aberration correction options in electron-beam lithography systems. For the calculations, the thesis uses the optical column of the BS600 electron-beam writer. The thesis focuses on corrections of the third order field curvature, astigmatism, and distortion aberrations of the currently used magnetic deflection system and a newly designed electrostatic deflection system. The parameters of the two deflection and correction systems were compared.

Theme of diploma thesis: Synthesis of Pyrazine Derivates as Potential Antituberculotics I. My diploma thesis comprises recherché concerned with contemporary importance of tuberculosis and new treatment approaches in its therapy. We have found out the methods of synthesis of amides of pyrazinecarboxylic acid derivates in chemical literature. Experimental part deal with synthesis of six new amides on the basis of pyrazinecarboxylic acid derivates, till now not published. Newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by melting points, TLC, elemental analysis, IR, 1 H and 13 C NMR spectra. In vitro data of eight new compounds are presented. My diplomat thesis brings new antimycobacterial data, antifungal data and log P values are calculated. Hradec Králové, 2010 Drahomíra Eibinová

The aim of the thesis was to create the business plan of a newly rising travel agency. The Theoretical part targets the basic conceptions related to the issue. It contains the definition of a business plan and it mentions who its users are and which form and appurtenances should the correct business plan have. The Practical part includes the concrete business plan of the new travel agency. It includes the explication, if its foundation in future is feasible and if the calculation of the capital intensity of the project is realistic.

Status of soil organic carbon content of selected reclaimed sites in the Podkrušnohorská dump.
KOBESOVÁ, Martina
The main aim of this thesis was to assess the status of soil organic carbon in newly shaped soils called Velká podkrušnohorská dump in the Sokolov district and evaluate the information in relation to the physic-chemical properties of soils. Another objective was to determine the relationship between the stable and labile fractions of soil organic carbon. The amount of soil carbon (stable fraction) was measured in the solid soil samples and there was the analysis of basic physic-chemical parameters of the soil performed. The highest concentration of soil carbon was measured in the stand alders and larch. The amount of soil carbon (labile fraction) was measured in the water extract. The highest values were measured in the stand silver birch and alders. Based on this data the quotient of the labile fraction from the stable fraction was determined and the correlation of the labile and stable fractions was made. It was found out that the higher quality soils are located at the leafy trees, but it leads to leaching of organic carbon. The bulk density and coarse-grained soil fraction was determined from the physical properties and these data were used to calculate the stock of soil organic carbon. The highest value was measured in deciduous forests with small-leaved linden, in coniferous forests with larch. The stocks of soil organic carbon were converted into codes by land cover categories and the thematic map was created. It was found out that the leafy trees are much more appropriate for forest restoration, because they are characterized by the rapid initial growth, easily degradable plant litter and stable form humus. Deciduous forests are also characterized by more developed soil substrate, which is however unstable.
