The medial construction of reality: example 2011 IIHF World Champioship
Staňová, Petra ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Zamazal, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis deals with designing of reality during the Ice Hockey World Championship 2011 in Bratislava, for which Robert Zaruba devised a unique project built on the myth of friendship and cohesion of the Czechs and the Slovaks. The theoretical basis of this work is the social construction of reality, according to which the reality in our minds is shaped by society. In the analysis of the structure of the broadcast channel CT 4, I am trying to find out how much does ice hockey push on viewer's mind and what is the amount of the Czech Republic and Slovakia national teams involvement. As a means of construction and reconstruction of the fictional world, the world created by its author, narrative is applied. The narratives typical for the structure of the CT4 are descibed in the next part in order to find a narrative that could serve as a template for the narrative of the championship. The final form of the narrative is shaped both by the narrator (presenter, commentator), who verbally describes what is happening and also the director whois responsible for the visual composition of the story. Features used in brodcasting, whose final analysis leads to the ability of distinction of the characters creating on the basis of similarity and context of highlighted object or those having arisen from anagreement among...

Comparative study of marketing communication and brands Versace and Zara in 2009-2010
Grundmanová, Lenka ; Obluk, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hejlová, Denisa (referee)
My work is dedicated to problematics of fashion marketing, specifically to marketing communication of Versace and Zara brands in years 2009-2010. Versace and Zara represent companies from two dramatically different areas of garment industry - the first is a brand selling luxurious goods, clothes and accessories of a highest quality and price range, the second is a company typical for mass production and sale and prices which are rather low range. In the first part of work I focus on the brands themselves - their history, development and especially current position on the world and Czech market. Furthermore I describe thoroughly their target groups. The aim of the work was to find out whether different characters of the companies, their economic situation and target groups might have effect on their marketing communication and if so, of what kind. I compared all the communication channels, from classic advertising to corporate culture, always in terms of given area of the industry and also regarding the specifications of each studied brand. The study covers global communication of the brands and monitors the amount of differentiation and possible specifics in communication on the Czech market. Apart from final comparison of communication of brands Versace and Zara I attempted to conclude general...

Late Carboniferous silicified wood from the western part of the Kladno-Rakovnik Basin
Holeček, Jakub ; Sakala, Jakub (advisor) ; Pšenička, Josef (referee)
Kladno-Rakovník Basin and especially its western part is well known for its abundant silicified wood, so-called as "araukarity". The occurrence of these fossils is described since the 19th century, however, modern systematic classification is lacking. Araukarity, linked mainly to the Týnec and Líně Formations, are found almost exclusively on the fields, therefore it was difficult to implement any detailed sedimentological conclusions. The Master Thesis is focused on the western part of the Kladno-Rakovník Basin, where large amount of material was discovered. After a detailed xylotomical study of thin sections and polished cross sections, two different types of wood were discerned. First related to the coniferous and cordaite wood, attributable to the of the morphogenus Araucarioxylon and the second one, rather rare and unknown in the western part of the Kladno-Rakovník Basin represents a calamite wood and it is assigned to the morphogenus Arthropitys. I was able to partially confirm Skoček's (1970) theory, that so-called black araukarity are linked to the grey (Kladno and Slaný) formations.

Garaj, Juraj ; Boháč, Radim (advisor) ; Kohajda, Michael (referee)
Deduction of VAT from the perspective of Czech and EU law The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the relation between Czech and EU law with respect to the juridical institute of deduction of VAT, comparing these legal systems in the light of both EU and Czech case law. The thesis is composed of four chapters starting generally and continuing to more specific matters. Chapter One is divided into two parts, first characterizing VAT and its position in a tax system and second exploring reasons of VAT implementation. Chapter Two focuses on the process of tax harmonization as general phenomenon describing its stages and legal basis in the EU in order to explain process of VAT harmonization within the EU in its second part. Third part deals with the relation between Czech and EU law and analyses problem of euro conformity assessment of Czech law by the administrative organs with respect to the relevant case law. Chapter Three describes structure of VAT divided into 5 parts accordingly to its components. Taxable transactions, taxable persons, taxable amount, rates and temporal aspects are analyzed in order to better understand the mechanism of deduction of VAT and the role of EU case law in the system of EU tax law. Chapter Four deals with deduction of VAT and is divided into four parts. First part analyses the...

Ground-level ozone - seasons, relationships, conjunctions
Borovanský, Jan
Ground-level ozone - seasons, relationships, conjunctions Jan Borovanský Abstract Episodes of increased ground-level ozone concentrations change with the environment. While in urban areas are the increased concentrations irregular and remain short in the ground-level of atmosphere, in the background environment and higher altitude areas they last longer with very low amplitude. From the urban areas to background areas increase annual mean concentration of ground-level ozone as well. Ground-level ozone is secondary pollutant - its concentration depends on amount of precursors in the atmosphere and on meteorological conditions. Dependence on ozone precursors is changing progressively with the type of environment while meterological conditions play relatively same role in all types of environment. In urban areas, relation to ozone precursors is quite strong, in contrast with background areas where no significant relation is registered (the same correlation can be observed with increasing altitude). Therefore a distant transmission is considered as the dominant source of ground-level ozone in the background areas. Relationships between ground-level ozone and its precursors within the scope of daily regime are further studied in this work. Resulting curve in a chart has octal shape and can be divided into 4 main...

Issues of drinks dispensers and water intake of elementary-school pupils
LITVANOVÁ, Monika
Drinking regime is one of the topics that is much-debated. Failure to observe the principles of correct drinking regime threatens the health of children and seniors due to lack of fluids. The problem is, first, inadequate fluid intake, but also the quality of the received beverages. One of the major problems that lead to the fact that children drink inappropriate beverages may be that the majority of elementary schools have vending machines available with an inappropriate spectrum of offered sweetened and carbonated beverages. Result of long-term regular consumption may be an increase of overweight, obesity and increased tooth decay in children. The main objective of this thesis was to explore whether pupils of second grade primary schools comply with appropriate fluid intake during class. This thesis is also focused on finding the amount and preferences of drinks that students buy in beverage machines. Other partial objective was to find out what drinks children bring from home and whether parents and educators try to influence, through education, the drinking regime during class and range of drinks that children buy in school beverage vending machines. The theoretical section summarizes basic information about water in the body, drinking regime of the different types of beverages and the consequences of inadequate or excessive fluid intake. The practical part is the processing of data obtained through quantitative research mapping problems with drinking regime of elementary school students. The thesis may serve as a source of information for both educators and parents, or the founders of educational facilities. Recommendations made at the end may, in case of interest from concerned persons, influence and improve fluid intake of pupils in primary schools.

MEDIA INFLUENCE ON PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN´S

Mpembe effect - reality or fiction? (Hysteresis by water freezing).
Böhm, Pavel ; Obdržálek, Jan (advisor) ; Rotter, Miloš (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to review theoretically and experimentally so-called Mpemba eect, where the initially hot water freezes sooner than the initially cold one. Based upon already published theoretical and experimental works, a list of circumstances possibly supporting this phenomenon was created and discussed. Some situations were veried experimentally. These experiments were carried out partly in laboratory using small amounts of distilled water (less than 1 ml), partly in "kitchen conditions" using the tap water (about 200 ml) and a commercial home refrigerator. The time of freezing dened by freezing of the entire body of water was measured using the inection points of cooling curves. Unlikely to the Mpemba eect (and likely to the usual expectations), usually the sample of cold water freezes sooner than the hot one. The Mpemba eect occured rarely, mostly when the cooler was covered by the layer of the snow and the hot vessel could melt through it to reach better thermal contact than the cold vessel. Other observed cases were mostly inconclusive.

The impact of the EU Financial Support on Economic Growth of the Czech and Slovak Regions
Kolaříková, Jana ; Wokoun, René (advisor) ; Piecha, Marian (referee) ; Buček, Milan (referee)
One of the goals of the economic, social and territorial cohesion is to reduce regional disparities between member states of the European Union. For this purpose the structural funds and the Cohesion Fund were established(among other things). The theoretical part of this thesis presents the issue of regional disparities and ways how to measure them. In view of the lack of consistent definition of this concept, there are number of measurement and evaluation methods. Furthermore, the work focuses on the implementation of cohesion policy and ways of measurement of their impact on development and growth of regions. The practical part of this thesis presents, evaluates and compares the regional disparities between the regions of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic via selected methods and assesses the impact of the financial support provided from the Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund in the programming period 2007 - 2013 on economic growth of regions in the Czech and Slovak Republics. Following indicators are included: gross domestic product, unemployment rate, gross fixed capital formation and the rate of economic activity. The influence of the subsidy on the economic growth of regions is validated through the panel data analysis, namely a panel model with fixed effects, and Granger causality test. First, we investigated the impact of this support on the economic performance of regions where it is verified whether there is a relationship between economic performance of NUTS III regions in the Czech and Slovak Republics, characterized by gross domestic product and the unemployment rate, and the amount of the subsidy. Furthermore, it is verified whether the amount of subsidy depends on the level of regional gross domestic product. Dissertation contributes to the discussion about the impact of support from EU funds in the Czech and Slovak Republics, focusing on the regional level, and answers the question of reducing regional disparities using the Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund.
