Database design for high school
Schoř, Martin ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Chlapek, Dušan (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to create alternative and simpler database without unused functions, which can be used by application designed to keep a records of students and teachers and to create and manage timetable of high school. The created database should also be easily extendable. I started by analyzing high school, then created conceptual and physical model of the database and in the end described access rights of users of the database. I've also used a small data sample to test the database in Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2. The expected contribution of this thesis for teachers should be more transparent and simpler database than the one which is currently used by the consulted high schools. The created database should mainly be a contribution for students, who currently have no access at all to the school database. The thesis is mainly focused on the database design and its practical realization with theoretical parts where relevant.

Support software for projection of burglar alarm systems
Fikejs, Jan ; Pust, Radim (referee) ; Burda, Karel (advisor)
This graduation thesis deals with a software design of burglar alarm. The software has been developed in compliance with the applicable standards and regulations governing burglar alarm designs and on the basis of practical experience with designing and implementing electronic security systems. The software is written in C# and uses .NET platform. On the ground of that, this software can be run on any computer with the Windows operation system. Any ground plan picture file can be used as the underlying project map on which all the object security system can be built. It makes it possible to produce both wire and wireless electronic security systems. The software includes an editable database of components and conductors used in the electronic security alarms. The database components can be created, edited and deleted through the software. The database has been saved in format XML. The software also includes a folder of picture files containing photographs of the components and schematic symbols used in the software. You use a mouse to drag and drop individual components into the ground plan picture, where they are well arranged in a tree structure. The components can be interconnected by a conductor, which enables creation of a precise design of the electronic security system of the object. The software output includes drawings, bills of material and pricing. As for the space components, you can graphically display their range and thus visually confirm the design. The software includes automatic design verification. There, you can verify whether the right components have been used and whether the designed conductor lengths are acceptable, whether they correspond with the system load, and whether the voltage drops on the conductors do not exceed the permitted limit. The software has been developed for all electronic security system designers and for engineers attending to these problems.

Comparison of data management solutions in MySQL and MongoDB while using Doctrine 2 in Symfony 2 framework
Firla, Dominik ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Mittner, Jan (referee)
This thesis focuses on comparing a relational database system with a document database on both theoretical and practical levels. In theoretical part of this thesis principles of relational and document databases are explained. Closer attention is given to MySQL and MongoDB databases. In practical part a solution to data management is realized for a model situation. Both systems are compared in terms of implementation and performance. Knowledge gained is summarized in conclusion of this thesis and should help a reader when choosing the right database system not only for a web application implementing PHP framework Symfony. Practical part of the thesis also includes an author-made project containing implementation of both databases in the model situation.

NoSQL databases
Mrozek, Jakub ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Bruckner, Tomáš (referee)
The topic of this thesis is NoSQL databases and is mainly focused on presenting the most common types of NoSQL databases and their use. This text assumes that the reader is sufficiently familiar with the basic principles of NoSQL databases and is aimed at helping the reader to find their way through a number of NoSQL databases that are currently available on the market. The main objective is to provide readers with a guide for choosing the right database solution for the particular problem they are trying to solve. The work is divided into two main parts. In the theoretical part, the reader will find basic information about the types of NoSQL databases. The most widely used representatives, including examples of work with databases, will be presented in detail. In the practical part, the reader will find a comparison of several representatives in the category of NoSQL databases.

Charity donation analysis
Wiesnerová, Jana ; Melzochová, Jitka (advisor) ; Kovanda, Lukáš (referee)
This thesis analyses effects of various factors on the likelihood of charity contribution using probit models, focusing on donations only. The main data source was the MML-TGI database 2012 developed by Median, s.r.o. In this work, two models are built using different explanatory variables. Both models support the hypothesis of the thesis that higher probability of participation in the donation is expected from women. The first model was able to demonstrate the influence of age and educational attainment on the likelihood of financial donations paid to charities. The highest increase in the probability was recorded for ages 40-45 years and graduates. In the second model, further dependence of donation on political orientation, net monthly income and marital status was tested. It has been proven that we can expect the highest probability for married women and married men, as well as the right-wing oriented people and people with an income between CZK 15,001 to CZK 30,000 per month.

Using public licenses for publishing a database of metadata
Reinöhl, Michal
The paper will focus its attention on the legal and practical possibilities in utilizing public licenses as a tool in making metadata available to the broad public in such a form that is as open as possible, as well as on the obstacles that need to be overcome in doing so, in particular in regard to the rights of third persons. The paper will draw from experience in publishing the database of NRGL metadata, and will work out generally applicable conclusions based on that.

The Legal Protection of Databases
Kohutová, Radka ; Holcová, Irena (advisor) ; Křesťanová, Veronika (referee)
What is the value of information? This is the crucial question that arises in relation to the legal protection of databases. The rise of new media created a brand new world that we labelled the information society in which the information is one of the most valuable assets. The power of digitalization came hand in hand with this rapid transformation and has offered us an almost indefinite amount of storage space and permitted us the dramatic increase of speed for the transfer of data and information, while, consequently making violation and infringing of intellectual property rights simpler than ever before. The form of a database has been transformed and has become increasingly important as a way of organizing data and information in the age of information society. This State Doctoral Thesis called The Legal Protection of Databases aims to present the comparative analysis of database protection in three countries-namely the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America. The choice of countries allows covering different approaches to the legal protection of databases of two biggest competitors on the world database market-the United States of America and the EU, and to present the aspects of copyrights and sui generis protection....

Analýza hedgeových fondov a hedgeových stratégií
Austová, Lucia ; Jílek, Josef (advisor) ; Halás, Vladimír (referee)
An objective of my graduation thesis is an analysis of hedge funds and hedge strategies while reflecting the distribution of the investments to right portfolio taking into account the risk. The main aim is to provide clear and consistent classification of whole variety of different hedge styles and strategies. There are plenty of different investment and trading strategies of hedge funds and their classification differs from analyst to analyst and from database to database. The work focuses on finding an alternative consistent classification of hedge funds which will lead to improvement of investment decisions of financial market participants, to effective distribution of the investment portfolio and therefore to elimination of undiversified risks. For the practical analysis I use real data of hedge fund returns of particular relevant time period. I focus on research and description of possible methods of hedge fund classification mentioning their pluses and minuses. After passionate evaluation of each method I have chosen two methods according to which I classify the hedge funds datasets and finally I compare the results of both. The theoretical part of work focuses on definition of hedge funds, hedge styles and strategies, pluses and minuses as well as risk accompanying particular strategy.
