Investigation of flow within naturally ventilated cattle barn: preliminary results from wind-tunnel experiments

The mean vector (longitudinal and vertical velocity components) and scalar (turbulence intensity) fields within a scale (1:50) model of naturally ventilated cattle barn were qualitatively compared in this study. These qualitative comparisons clearly show the effect of the simulated atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) and the opening configuration on the flow characteristics within the barn. ABL of moderately rough terrain produces higher velocities at both the inlet and the outlet openings and inside the barn than that ABL of very rough terrain. However, the intensity of the turbulence is more dependent on the configuration of the opening. For instance, although ABL was very rough and therefore more turbulent, lower turbulence intensities were observed for that ABL than for the moderately rough ABL in the case of middle openings.

Effect of clay plasters application on heat storage

The aim of this master thesis is a research of effects of clay plaster application and natural ventilation on heat storage of a room. In addition to theoretical analysis of basic characteristics of clay as material used in the field of civil engineering, an experimental verification of these characteristical features is carried out as well. The thesis also studies thermal comfort of a room in terms of humidity and concentration of CO2 in dependence of natural ventilation. In the last part, numerical verification of effects of clay plaster application on heat storage is calculated using Simulace 2015 software.

Microclimate study rooms with natural ventilation

Master thesis solves the level of CO2 concentration in the premises of universities in Brno. The main objectives of the processed data measured from two monitored rooms, compare it with the permissible limits of concentration, evaluate the effectiveness of natural ventilation and develop a more efficient way to exchange air with forced venti-lation. Space solutions are part of the Philosophical Faculty of Masaryk University, the fourth above-ground floors of buildings A and B1. The theoretical part deals with CO2 concentrations, measurement methods, the influence of CO2 on the organism and the assessment of daylight.

Ventilation of the Education Building

This bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of the current state indoor microclimate of educational object before and after the reconstruction of windows. On the basis of my own measurements there is designed a forced ventilation using two air-conditioning systems which ensure a required microclimate of all classrooms.

Air conditioning in the production hall

The bachelor thesis deals with the project of air-conditioning system in the manufacturing hall, storage and administrative premises. Each system is designed to fulfill the operational, functional and sanitary requirements of inner microclimate. System No. 1, for the manufacturing hall, is designed to be able to cover loss of heat in winter time and heat gain in summer time. System No. 2, for storage premises, serves for heat ventilation all year round. System No. 3, for administrative premises, is designed as heat ventilation accompanied by VRV cooling system to cover heat load in summer time. Theoretical part focuses on natural ventilation, its principles and division.

This bachelor thesis deals with hybrid ventilation in buildings. The first part of the thesis discusses ventilation, the classification of ventilation and then natural and mechanical ventilation are summarized. The second part focuses on hybrid ventilation. Here the classification of hybrid ventilation, 2 examples of hybrid ventilation in non-residential premises and 4 hybrid ventilation systems for 4 climate zones are mentioned.

Ventilation in kindergarten

This thesis is developed for the design of air conditioning equipment for kindergartens in Kuřim. The specified object is designed hot-air heating, hot-air ventilation and natural ventilation space. The theoretical part focuses on the comparison of natural and forced ventilation. Project part project has developed to implement the air conditioning equipment for kindergartens departments, two modular units for forced ventilation of kitchens and assessment of natural ventilation in the social and sanitary facilities kindergarten.
