Dušková, Lenka ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
At the core of this master thesis lies the cohesion of NATO and the EU's strategic communication. The cohesion is researched in the context of both institutions' reactions to hybrid threats from quantitative and qualitative points of view. The thesis observes communication's cohesion within the realm of NATO and the EU's responses to the annexation of Crimea and subsequent war in Ukraine, the Skripals' poisoning, and the instrumentalization of migration by the Belarusian regime. What precedes the empirical part is a summary of current academic debates about the concept of strategic communication and also the description of NATO and the EU's communication systems. The analysis then builds on the extensive dataset of NATO and the EU's event-related messages. The intrainstitutional and interinstitutional cohesion is assessed based on the frequencies and timing of the messages in the above- mentioned cases. The subsequent qualitative analysis draws on Carey's proposed ritual view of communication. It further analyzes whether the content of NATO and the EU's strategic communication reflects their core values, threat perception, narratives about expected appropriate behavior, visioning, and whether it refers to the common historical experience, stimulates a shared view of reality, and explicitly...

Gogolová, Eliška ; Sedlák, Michal (advisor) ; Vačkář, Adam (referee)
This bachelor thesis Mountains of Laundry aims to look into a three-way relationship among human, landscape and textile, their meanings and mutual influence. Individual chapters dedicated to the art of textile, to respecting traditions as a cultural heritage of the past and its persisting values for today's society, to the way a landscape influences human behaviour and to the actual art interpretation of Mountains of Laundry, they also attempt to depict my personal relationship to cloth. This thesis follows the phenomenon of the gradual return of a textile media into contemporary Czech art and through soft-material pieces of art of particular artists it seeks one specific denominator as well as various grasps of this field. Interviews with designer Tereza Rosalie Kladošová and artist Daniela Mikulášková reveal motivations of artists who work with textile media in applied arts as well as free arts, and they also refer to an issue of necessity to create borders between these two art forms. The way of grasping a tradition linked to a specific region or landscape refers to personal experience in the practical part. Due to the use of the blueprint technique in the artistic part of this thesis, a more detailed introduction of this negative indigo print from its history to its current use in art is also...
The Night
Dušek, Filip ; Moravanský, Tomáš (referee) ; Javůrek, Tomáš (advisor)
The NIGHT bachelor thesis deals with the perception of the world by adolescents. It shows a specific period of the author's life and the events he experienced corresponding to the real realities. The form of featured documentary was chosen for this purpose. In the beginning, it was important to try to understand and name your thought processes at the time. In the final stage we then get to remain in mere observation without uttering a verdict. The document is in short format. The main role is played by a close person (brother), who is also in a similar period of life. The narration and location of the film are also true to the real places where the events originally took place. The film will feature mostly one person in the visual component - as the author's younger self. The whole film is accompanied by the voice of an indeterminate split entity (the inner voice of the actor / conscience / god / experience / ...), which in the form of a monologue will reveal what was going on. These voices will be materialized in a 3D object that is non-violently implemented in scenes. Through intimacy revealing the author's privacy to the viewer, there is a reconciliation with the past. Self-ironing reflections, relieving pseudo-problems of adolescence, which can have a perverse effect, can nevertheless bring fundamental knowledge and new value.
