Visual identity of the virtual city
Sodomková, Natálie ; Ondrík, Jozef (referee) ; Vaněk, Vojtěch (advisor)
This thesis is a continuation of an essay developed in the context of the bachelor thesis Les (2020) on graphical user interfaces and infographics. At the same time, the thesis is based on a prototype of a digital game Studna. In detail, it focuses on one of the segments of game development, namely visual communication. The aim of the work is to find a stylized visual vocabulary in relation to architecture, narrative design, gameplay and responsiveness in the context of navigation. The textual part looks for examples of more sophisticated ways of conveying information in existing video game titles. The practical part proposes a methodology that draws inspiration from design and industrial architecture from the 19th-20th century, including illustration and painting approaches. The proposed methodology verifies whether the applied approaches are suitable for further use in practice.
Fairytale
Lázničková, Klára ; Babáková, Bernardeta (referee) ; Klímová, Barbora (advisor)
The diploma project Fairy Tale involves performative works with the poems as a diary record and its sharing. As part of my project, I offer my narrative poems written in a fairy tale language, as an act of sharing and therefore engagement with the readers and audience as participants. The poems were written spontaneously, reflecting a particular time in my life. They carry the sadness and suffering of the archetype the princesses and are an authentic description as well as an attempt to cope with a particular traumatic situation through different periods of time. The individual poems can serve as different perspectives on a given situation and reveal my ability or inability to look more consciously at unpleasant life situations. For me, the fairy tale world carries a stubbornness and underlines the painfulness of the illusions created; through it, I encounter stereotypical views of gender roles in the poems, observing my patterns of behavior and the sources of painful emotions. I associate the fairytale world of princes and princesses with the first great frustration and lies carrying confusion over the functioning, form and course of interpersonal partner relationships. I would like to dedicate my thesis to the sharing of intrinsic emotions in all their forms, mistakes, pains, smallness and strength and to interpersonal bonds, reciprocity, the ability to share, self-reflection, communication and sensitivity.

Students' understanding of illustrations used in biology textbooks
HRŮZOVÁ, Marcela
The bachelor's thesis Students' understanding of illustrations used in biology textbooks deals in the first part with what a textbook is, what is its function in education and what is the purpose of the pictorial material contained in it. A partial part is the analysis of selected textbooks of natural history and biology with regard to human biology. Part of the analysis is the analysis of textbooks in terms of the occurrence of illustrations that are in them. Especially their number and type are analyzed. Another part of the bachelor thesis deals with the results of the questionnaire survey. The following discussion discusses the results and compares them with other studies. The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to use a questionnaire survey to find out whether primary school students understand illustrations in science and biology textbooks. Whether they understand them, they can orient themselves in them and whether they are understandable to them. Pupils' attitudes and opinions on illustrations, textbooks and natural sciences in general were also surveyed. A total of 103 pupils aged 14-16 years participated in the research. Each student received a questionnaire of two A4 pages. The subsequent evaluation was carried out on the basis of predetermined criteria. It was found that students like to have pictures in textbooks, most of them would welcome even more. They prefer photos to cartoons. Color illustrations seem to them more attractive. The pictures in the textbooks seem clear to them. When a teacher puts them to the test, most of them claim that it is not difficult for them to describe such a picture. However, there were not many pupils in this survey who correctly described all the pictures that were included in the questionnaire. Only less than 13 % of respondents succeeded.
Illustrations of fairy tales by Božena Němcová in reprints in the years 1913-1988
Javorinská, Kristína ; Bendová, Eva (advisor) ; Pech, Milan (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on illustrations of Božena Němcová's fairy tales by selected illustrators in reprints and compares different illustrative approaches. The first, theoretical, part of the thesis covers the fairy tale as a genre, its history, characteristics and discusses the fairy tale books of Božena Němcová. It then provides an overview of the changes in children's book illustration, with an emphasis on fairy tales, from the time of the first illustrated books to the end of the 20th century. The second part of the thesis focuses on comparison and interpretation of illustrations by selected artists (Artuš Scheiner, Josef Lada, František Doubrava and Milada Marešová), used for republished versions of Božena Němcová's fairy tale books. In particular, it focuses on the authors' individual approaches to illustration and the similarities or differences in their work. This thesis further includes an inventory of all illustrated editions of Božena Němcová's fairy tales from the first illustrated edition until 1989 and an appendix with pictures.
Beetle armour
Polášková, Lucie ; Ryška, Pavel (referee) ; Vaněk, Vojtěch (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the creation of an author's accordion book, examining the relationship between textual and pictorial communication of information. The narrative is thematically set in the stylized realm of insects, where it works with the metaphor of the exoskeleton of the beetle as a portable armor, architecture, or outline. The fictional story deals with the life cycle of a beetle. He wonders how beetles are born and how do they leave the world? The aim of my bachelor thesis is the realization of an atypical prototype of an accordion book, which is located on the border of a building kit, a toy and a book. The realization of the prototype will use traditional techniques, including digitization and image post-production.
