Bituminous mixture desing with the use of 30 % reclaimed asphalt and its functional evaluation
Horáček, Daniel ; Šperka, Pavel (referee) ; Kudrna, Jan (advisor)
The aim of my bachelor thesis is to design asphalt mixture with a higher lifetime (mixture of type VMT 16) and its subsequent assessment by selected functional tests. VMT blends are used for load and underlayer layers of roads with higher transport loads. The main idea of this bachelor thesis is the design of an asphalt mixture consisting of natural aggregates, recycled asphalt mixtures and crumb rubber modified bitumen, yet retaining good road-holding properties. The use of recyclable bituminous mixtures will allow the recycling of bent or milled asphalt layers, which is currently high in surplus, and will allow the overall cost of building new high-quality asphalt layers to be reduced. The bachelor thesis describes the empirical and functional tests performed, according to which the resulting asphalt mixture was designed, and the results compared with the TP151 Asphalt mixture with high modulus of stiffness (VMT).
Evaluation of properties of PMB containing binder from RAP
Měšťanová, Petra ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
Subject of this diploma thesis is to describe the effect of adding different amount of aged binder recovered from RAP on the change of properties of polymer modified bitumen. The RAP containing unmodified bitumen and the RAP where we can expect bitumen modification are used to recover binder. The binder obtained from RAP is dosed into the virgin binder in amount of 15 %, 30 % and 50 %. The methods of recycling of flexible pavements, extraction and regeneration of asphalt binders, rejuvenating of their properties and methods of empirical and functional laboratory tests are described in the theoretical part. The practical part deals with evaluating and comparison of the results mixed binders properties.

Acuna Subia, Luis Carlos ; Hrbek, Kamil (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to verify and compare the properties of bituminous stone mastic asphalt, namely SMA 11S with modified PMB 45 / 80-55 asphalt binder or 50/70 road bitumen binder with rubber granulate. Comparison of properties is performed using functional tests. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the familiarization with the use of the SMA mixture, the selected concepts concerning recycling of non-leveled roads are described and described. Attention is paid especially to the recycling of roads in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on hot recycling on the incinerator, which allows increased dosing of Reclaimed Asphalt into asphalt mixtures. In the practical part, the results of the functional tests of the SMA 11S mixture, which have been taken from the test section, are processed and evaluated.
Asphalt mixtures with the use of higher amount of RAP
Mucha, Bohumír ; Matoušek, David (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
At the beginning of the Master’s thesis the asphalt mixture of the type asphalt concrete and its basic properties are described. The main point of this work is to compare the functional properties of asphalt mixtures with the addition of higher amount of RAP and various rejuvenators used in the experimental section. From individual samples of asphalt mixtures taken during the laying, the control tests were carried out and the process of permanent deformation with the wheel tracking test was monitored. After that, using functional tests the properties of asphalt mixtures with conventional modified and unmodified asphalt bitumen enriched with the addition of declaring similar properties were compared.
Recycling of asphalt mixtures with standard amount of RAP
Staňková, Michaela ; Koudelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the design of an asphalt mixture for an abrasive layer with a standard R-material content (20 %) without the use of other softening additives, while the properties of the aged asphalt binder in the mixture were compensated by dosing "softer binder 70/100". Asphalt mixtures type ACO 11+ are designed to meet the requirements ČSN 73 6121: 2019. The aim of the work is to verify the expected properties of the asphalt mixture performed functional and empirical tests according to the standards for asphalt mixtures of the ČSN EN 12697 series.
Milling of asphalt layers of pavements
Brida, Peter ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the comparison of the influence of the milling machine movement speed on the properties of RAP (reclaimed asphalt pavement). The theoretical part describes issue of production and usage of RAP. The practical part evaluates the sieve size distributions of these materials and needle penetration and softening point of bitumen recovered from RAP samples.
Bituminous mixture for wearing course with increased content of reclaimed asphalt
Spies, Karel ; Šperka, Pavel (referee) ; Kudrna, Jan (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with design of asphalt mixture for wearing course, by performing functional tests according to ČSN EN 12697 (736160) Bituminous mixtures - Test methods for hot asphalt mixtures and comparison of its properties with asphalt concrete for wearing course (ACO 11 +) according to ČSN EN 13108-1 ed. 2 (736140) Bituminous mixtures - Specification for materials - Part 1: Bituminous concrete. The proposed layer is characterized by a high (50%) reclaimed asphalt pavement content (RAP) and the use of a crumb rubber modified bitumen (CRMB) without the use of rejuvenators or other softening additives. The aim of the work is to verify the expected properties of the asphalt mixture and point out the possibility of using larger amounts of reclaimed asphalt pavement in asphalt mixtures.
Recycling of asphalt mixtures with higher amount of RAP
Klimek, Matěj ; Koudelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
The theoretical part of the diploma thesis recapitulates the existing literature in the field of recycling asphalt mixtures with a higher content of RAP (Reclaimed asphalt pavement). The practical part of the diploma thesis examines changes in the properties of asphalt mixtures with a higher content of RAP, due to changes in mixing time. Five mixtures have been proposed for this research. It is an asphalt mixture intended for the road abrasive layer (ACO 11+). Reference mixture "A" without RAP, with a standard mixing time of 25 seconds. Mixture "B" with 40% RAP, without rejuvenator, with an extended mixing time of 40 seconds. Mixture "C" with 40% RAP, with rejuvenator and standard mixing time. Mixture "D" with 40% RAP with rejuvenator and extended mixing time of 40 seconds. Mixture "E" with 40% RAP, with rejuvenator and extended mixing time of 55 seconds.
Bituminous mixtures with a higher lifetime using recycled asphalt
Stromecký, Roman ; Musil, Vladimír (referee) ; Kudrna, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with a project of asphalt mixtures with high stiffness modulus using R-material. The theoretical part describes the characteristics of these mixtures in the Czech Republic and in Switzerland. Further this part deals with the use of R-material in the Czech Republic and chosen other countries of the world, it also deals with the ways of recycling roads. The theoretical part also deals with the testing methods used. In the practical part two new asphalt mixtures of the high stiffness modulus type with the addition of 25 % R-material are suggested. As a base for these two mixtures a mixture of the high stiffness modulus type, which was taken from an asphalt mixing plant, was used. Tests were run on the binders and several functional tests (stiffness modulus, fatigue resistance, low temperature qualities) wer done on the suggested asphalt mixtures and also the mixture taken from the mixing plant. Consequently, the results were compared. The conclusion of the thesis is devoted to modelling a construction of a road using the program LayEps, which verified if the suggested mixtures could reduce the thickness of roads.
Rejuvenators in recycled asphalt material
Klein, Marek ; Coufalíková, Iva (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the use of rejuvenating additives in asphalt mixtures with reclaimed asphalt pavement. The theoretical part describes methods of adding reclaimed asphalt pavement to new asphalt mixtures. There are also explained principles of tests on asphalt binder: needle penetration, softening point, dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), bending beam rheometer (BBR) and short-therm aging of asphalt binders by the RTFOT method. The practical part of the thesis explains procedures of adding rejuvenating additives to asphalt mixtures in laboratory conditions. In the practical part are also evaluated results of tests on asphalt binder.
