Mathematical Methods in Economics

In my bachelor thesis, I deal with the topic of mathematical methods in economics. I focus on investing the company's free capital in cryptocurrencies, which is illustrated with the help of selected strategies. In the first part of the work, I explain the technical and fundamental requirements of cryptocurrencies, its most important representatives and technical analysis based on mathematical and statistical methods. In the practical part, I analyze four selected cryptocurrencies on two different investment strategies, which are then evaluated.
Mobile App for Management of Transactions with Cryptocurrencies

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to create a mobile application which would serve as auxiliary tool in cryptocurrency trading. The application is therefore targeting group of people already engaged in this market. The user can store and keep track of information about his transactions, such as purchase, sale and exchange. The application works with basic information, such as quantity, price, cryptocurrency name and date of proceeding. Based on the information it makes necessary calculations for correct organization in FIFO queue. Transactions can be further modified. Newly gained information are then processed. The user has option to generate PDF file, including all the information about own transactions in selected tax period. Also the overview of the currently registered cryptocurrencies can be displayed in the application. The design and entire looks of the application was consulted with potential users with its aim for maximizing user experience and also simplify orientation. Some observations serve as opportunities for further development.
Selected Topics of Cryptocurrencies with Focus on Taxation of Income Received from This Asset Type

The thesis explains the main characteristics and cryptocurrency definition. The thesis also offers cryptocurrency awareness analysis of Czech respondents. As part of this thesis there are also described legal and tax environments in the Czech Republic. The thesis focuses on specifics of taxation of income from cryptocurrency transactions. When the tax liability arises, it submits proposals to which category does the income belong and it comprehensively describes the procedure for calculating the tax base and subsequent taxation. In the case of legal entities, it presents the basic procedures for dealing with cryptocurrencies in the company. It deals with the „de lege ferenda“ taxation of income.

The bachelor thesis is focused on the development of price indicators, which are used for effective trading on the stock exchange. Part of the work is a technical analysis of the selected currency pair at a chosen time and based on the results of create effective indicators and test them at different time intervals.
Blockchain Abstraction Library

This thesis deals with cryptocurrencies and the underlying principles they are based on. It describes the blockchain technology and explores various cryptocurrencies that utilize it with the focus on their similarities and differences. The next part analyzes InsightAPI, the existing tool for real-time Bitcoin blockchain exploration. It then describes the proposed solution for the Ethereum blockchain explorer, highlights the implementation details, and shows results of its testing. The created tool allows the user to quickly gather information about desired blocks, users, and transactions of the Ethereum blockchain.
Risks Related to Investing in Selected Cryptocurrencies and Their Evaluation Using Fuzzy Logic

The diploma thesis deals with the application of fuzzy logic and advanced decision-making methods for designing a model that can be used in the management of risks related to investment assets (cryptocurrencies) selecting. For a model creation there will be mainly used Fuzzy Logic Toolbox of MATLAB programming environment.
Virtual Currencies

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of virtual currencies based on the blockchain technology. The foundations of the cryptocurrency workings are explained on cryptocurrency Bitcoin, which is later described in a greater detail from technological point of view. In addition to the general workings of a bitcoin network, this thesis describes creation of bitcoin addresses, the composition of transactions and the way they are sign and verified. A broader view of cryptocurrencies is offered within the fourth chapter, with the classification into generations and explanation of terms coin, token and stable coin. Chapter Ethereum explains the meaning of smart contracts and decentralized applications. Within the thesis a laboratory task was performed, which describes the procedure for programming a simplified version of blockchain in Python. To summarize the discussed topic, an educational web application was created.

This diploma thesis focuses on taxation of cryptocurrencies. Aim of this work is to make a proposal for a change to the Czech legislation in the field of cryptocur-rencies and their taxation. Main features of cryptocurrencies and taxation ap-proaches in Czech Republic and selected countries of European union are de-scribed in this thesis. Text also included examples demonstrating main differences between countries in regard to taxation policies. Based on experts opinions and detailed comparison of the taxation approaches to cryptocurrencies in selected countries, suggestion for a change to the Czech legislation in this area is proposed.

Vařejka, D. Network and substitution effect on cryptocurrency markets. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2023. This thesis examines the extent of substitution and network effects in the cryptocurrency market. These phenomena are investigated based on the relationships of individual cryptocurrency returns and other sentiment indicators. The theoreti-cal part of the thesis characterizes the network and substitution effects and further describes the consequences of their effects on the cryptocurrency market. The empirical part of the thesis is based on panel regression analysis with fixed effects. The dataset under study contains 31 cryptocurrencies for the period from the fourth quarter of 2017 to the first quarter of 2023. The selected data is weekly in nature. The results of the empirical analysis confirm the statistical significance of the included variables, the overall robustness of the model, and point to a long-lasting substitution effect in the cryptocurrency market.

The thesis deals with the design and creation of a solution for data verifi- cation and storage via blockchain. It also discusses how data can be stored and transmitted in a virtual metaverse environment, and whether blockchain can be used in this area. The work includes an extensive analysis of existing solutions and trends in this area. The concept of metaverse is treated rather theoretically in the thesis. The practical part of the thesis deals with the implementation of an application for data storage and verification using blockchain, which mainly focuses on user-friendliness and speed.
