This paper deals with new possibilities of modification of organic (including natural) fibers to improve their reaction to fire used in the production of thermal and acoustic insulators. The aim of the thesis is to achieve a minimum reaction class to fire D in final insulators.
The development of composite material system with focus on matrix for extreme conditions
Gratclová, Kamila ; Gross,, Tomáš (referee) ; Bydžovský, Jiří (advisor)
The thesis deals with composite systems, with a focus on matrix resistant to extreme conditions. The aim of this work was to research and development matrix, resistant to high temperatures, typical in case of fire. Used theoretical knowledge were realized with subsequent laboratory research. Attention was paid matrices based binder mixed with any alkali activation of alternative raw materials and geopolymers. Scattered reinforcement featured polypropylene fibers. The subject of the practical part of the two alternatives, including a matrix based on basic ingredients - cement, alternative raw materials - high fly ash, blast furnace slag, geopolymer and polymeric components incl. combinations thereof. Laboratory research conducted by determining the fundamental material properties such as density, strengths, etc., after heat exposure. The developed materials were subjected to a temperature 1400 ° C. The conclusion was selected several recipes that were based on the resulting values found to be optimal.
The optimization of the wood polymer composite composition regarding its utilization in building structures
Benešová, Anna ; Pospíšil,, Ladislav (referee) ; Ďurica,, Tibor (referee) ; Bodnárová, Lenka (referee) ; Vaněrek, Jan (advisor)
Wood-polymer composite is a relatively new type of material that combines shattered wood mass and a thermoplastic polymer. This material is utilized especially as an alternative to hard wood in the area of non-bearing exterior elements, as it reaches better properties in terms of the basic durability and low maintenance. Raw material composition and processing of the composite enable to provide a significant modification with further matters leading to an improvement of the end-product properties. Research and development in this field focuses predominantly on the utilization of such modifying additives that either enhance the resistance to weathering or are of the recycled nature, as a significant part of the raw material mixture comprises the constituent obtained from non-renewable resources. The aim of the thesis is the evaluation of the influence of the wood-polymer composite modification separately at two levels. First of them is the modification to matrix by using a recycled polymer, the second one comprises the modification of the wood flour with a secondary spherical filler. Both types of modified composites have been assessed in terms pf the prime characteristics and the resistance to adverse ambient.
Possibilities of application of basalt fibers in concrete
Zourek, Milan ; Hela, Rudolf (referee) ; Bodnárová, Lenka (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with possibilities of application of basalt fibers in concrete and in cementitious composites. In the theoretical part there is a summary of fibers usually used for fiberconcretes. Manufacturing process of basalt fibers is described, and properties of basalt fibers are summarized. Next part deals with properties of basalt fiber reinforced concrete. Concretely fresh properties, physical-mechanical properties, shrinkage and cracking, microstructure and fire resistance. The last chapter deals with fire resistance of concrete in general. The experimental part of this diploma thesis is divided into two phases. There were two mixes of basalt fiber reinforced concrete made with basalt aggregate and one mix of concrete without basalt fibers in the first phase. Density, consistency by slump and air content were determined as fresh properties. As hardened properties density, compressive strength and flexural strength were determined. There was determined the effect of the temperatures 600 and 800 °C on density, compressive strength and outward of specimens. Also, deformation during the high temperature curing was recorded. In the second phase of the experimental part there were three mixes of cementitious composite made with basalt fibers and one cementitious composite without basalt fibers. Density was determined as a fresh property. Material was monitored during its mixing. As a hardened properties density, flexural strength and compressive strength were determined. There was determined the effect of the temperatures 600 and 800 °C on density, flexural strength, compressive strength and outward of specimens.
Brno Skyscraper
Buchta, Václav ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The architectural study deals with the design of the new tallest building in the territory of the Czech Republic with a height of 200 m. The key aspect of the design is the use of solid wood CLT, GLT in the construction of the skyscraper tube. The work therefore aims to work with wood as a CO2 battery and to influence the architect's attitude towards this material in term of fire and environment. The expression of the exterior is inspired by Brno's functionalist background.

Fire Resistance Testing of Green Flat Roofs
Hobzová, Klára ; Pilinszki, Martin ; Beneš, Petr
The requirements for the roof covering with a vegetation layer, from the point of view of fire safety, are not currently directly defined in the Czech Republic. According to ČSN P CEN / TS 1187: 2012, four test methods are used for the classification of roofs / roof coverings exposed to external fire. The basis for determining the fire resistance of a green roof are classification protocols prepared according to the standard (roof coverings classified in the Broof (t3) class do not spread fire and prevent ignition of flammable parts of the structure). The article deals with testing the fire resistance of a green intensive roof according to our own methodology, which is based on the Broof (t3) test. The course of temperatures in individual layers of the roof cladding was monitored. The maximum temperature under the grass was determined from the temperature sensors, followed by the maximum temperature rise of 150 mm and 300 mm below the surface. Finally, the extent of flame spread across the surface was measured. The aim was to determine the effect of external fire on the supporting structure of the roof cladding, then to classify the structure into the appropriate classification according to ČSN EN 13501-5: 2017.
Design of reinforced concrete structure with respect to fire resistance requirements
Lehoťák, Roman ; Pulec, Vladimír (referee) ; Perla, Jan (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of internal forces and the design of the reinforcement of a reinforced concrete monolithic slab, a reinforcing wall and a column in the 1st floor of a dairy hall building. The fire resistance of selected structures was taken into account during dimensioning. The calculation of the internal forces was performed by the finite element method in Dlubal RFEM 5.24.
Influence of the type of dispersed reinforcement on selected properties of concrete
Gajdušková, Patricie ; Křížová, Klára (referee) ; Sedlmajer, Martin (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the usage of fibers in concrete. The fibers are dispersed reinforcement which may have different behaviour based on the material characteristics or the geometric shape of the fibers. Due to this, we may predict the appropriate application of fibers and possibly improve mechanical properties of concrete. At the same time, the influence of used fibers on the behaviour of the concrete when exposed to high temperatures, thus the fire resistance of material, is observed. The purpose of this thesis is to compare the properties of the individual fiber types in concrete, which are suitable for specific application of fibre reinforced concrete.
