Viscous and elastic properties of soft tissue "in situ"
Moravcová, Kamila ; Šifta, Petr (advisor) ; Bittner, Václav (referee)
Title: Viscousand elastic properties of soft tissue"in situ" Goals and methods: The aim of this thesis is to measure the viscoelastic properties of human soleus muscle and Achilles tendonin vivo and post mortem in situ. It is a pilot study that uses myotonometry as the method of measurement. Based on the response of connective tissues on deformation made by tip of myotonometer, resp. its viscoelastic properties, curves in graphsare created. Three main described parameters of thecurveare steepness, deflection and its surface area. Main goal of the experiment is to compare properties of different types of tissue and their potential differences while denervated or innervated. Results of this study may help with better understanding of the soft tissues behavior in response to manual therapeutic contact. The study also describes the differences between in vivo and post mortem tissue properties that may be help further studies which use post mortem tissues to predict in vivo behavior. Results: Soft tissues in vivo have higher viscosity. In comparison, post mortem tissues have significantly higher stiffness and energy dissipation than in vivo. Elasticproperties of denervated soft tissue manifest with approx. 7 secondsdelay. Viscoelastic properties of muscle tissueshow changes depending on deeper...
Heterogeneous bipolar membrane and the influence of composition on its properties
Kvasničková, Lucie ; Válek, Robert (referee) ; Neděla, David (advisor)
This work is focused on the preparation of heterogeneous bipolar membranes and studies the influence of different composition on mechanical and physical properties. The main feature of this approach is optimalization of composition following gained data. Theoretical part contains new piece of knowledge in the field of heterogeneous bipolar membranes. Experimental part engages preparation of bipolar ion-exchange membranes on one face cation-selective and on the other one anion-selective. In this case are used variant types of polyethylene.
Efficacy of post-isometric relaxation technique on muscle tissue and its viscoelastic properties after physical activity
Hloušková, Zuzana ; Šifta, Petr (advisor) ; Malá, Jitka (referee)
Title: Efficacy of post - isometric relaxation technique on muscle tissue and its viscoelastic properties after physical activity. Objective: This study is a pilot analytical and comparative study. The first aim of this thesis was evaluation of the effect of post-isometric relaxation technique on properties of muscle tissue after physical activity. The second aim of this thesis is to present a literature review regarding this topic using literature available. Methods: This study took place in the laboratory of kinesiology at UK FTVS. Six participants were measured prior to Wingate test, after Wingate test and after post- isometric relaxation or rest. Experimental lower extremity was applied post-isometric relaxation technique and the control lower extremity was not. Muscle tonus of the soleus muscle was measured with myotonometric device developed by Šifta. The final data were processed in the special software in Matlab and the obtained hysteresis curves were used for results analysis. Results: This study had three hypotheses and none of them was confirmed during the measuremets. The first hypothesis pressumed that muscle tonus will increase after the Wingate test, but it was not confirmed and thus further measurements were strongly influenced in the sense that post-isometric relaxation was not...
Factors affecting the attendance of Zoo Brno
Klofáč, Daniel ; Babin, Jan (advisor) ; Slaný, Martin (referee)
The aim of my bachelor thesis is to identify factors, which affects the demand of service of ZOO Brno and recommend steps to management to raise attendance and takings. I use daily data of attendance from years 2008 - 2014. The parameters are estimated by ordinary least square method. Most variables are statistically significant. Results show us, that the biggest influence on attendance has the variable weekend, in amount up to 165 % on adult group. Next significant variables with positive effect are bank holidays, school holidays and event in the area of ZOO park. Variables price, amount of precipitation and holding Moto GP in Brno have negative effect. Temperature has positive effect until breaking point, from this point the effect is negative.
Dynamic Elasticities of Tax Revenue: Evidence from the Czech Republic
Havránek, Tomáš ; Iršová, Zuzana ; Schwarz, Jiří
Tax revenue elasticities with respect to tax bases are key parameters for the modeling of public finances. Yet the existing studies estimating these elasticities for post-transition countries disregard the effects of tax reforms on tax revenue, which renders their estimates inconsistent. We use a unique data set from the Czech Republic to account for the effects of reforms and estimate both short- and long-run tax revenue elasticities. Our results suggest that the long-run elasticities are 1.4 for wage tax, 0.9 for value added tax, 1.7 for profit tax, and 1 for social security contributions. The adjustment process for value added tax and social security contributions is fast, but for the remaining two categories it is important to distinguish between the short- and long-run elasticities: the initial response of revenue to changes in the bases is weak. In the case of wage tax it takes half a year for the elasticity to surpass unity.

What is the difference between determinants of ticket demand at an open air cinema and multiplex cinemas?
Knittelová, Tereza ; Lahvička, Jiří (advisor) ; Svoboda, Miroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis identifies the determinants of the demand of an open air cinema. As a basis, data from the open air cinema Širák in the years 2010 -- 2013 has been used. It has been shown, that open air cinema's price elasticity of attendance demand is roughly unit elastic thus it maximizes its revenue from sold tickets. In comparison a multiplex cinema does not maximize its revenue from sold tickets and its price elasticity of attendance demand is inelastic. As a result of this thesis it has been found that visitors of an open air cinema are almost unaffected by movie genre in their decision to visit the open air cinema. However this is not the case for visitors of a multiplex. Visitors of either cinema prefer Czech movies over foreign ones. The attendance of the open air cinema is highly influenced by the weather.
Price elasticity of demand for gold in the European market and its determinants
Černohorský, Vojtěch ; Rotschedl, Jiří (advisor) ; Mirvald, Michal (referee)
This paper examines the relationship between the gold price and quantity demanded of the commodity in the European market. The aim of the thesis was to estimate the price elasticity of demand for gold in the short and long term and identify its determinants on the European market using OLS. Both static and dynamic forms of model are used and tested. This paper uses extensive dataset in form of monthly time series and in form of quarterly time series for the period from October 1996 to December 2013, and for the period from first quarter of 1991 to first quarter of 2002 respectively. According to the models the price elasticity of demand for gold seems to be elastic.
Forex interventions of CNB in front of the door to Eurozone
Kadlec, Tomáš
Kadlec, T. Forex interventions of CNF in front of the door to Eurozone. Di-ploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2015. This thesis study the foreign exchange intervention of Czech National Bank, launched in November 2013. Under the circumstances have been chosen to use the Marshall-Lerner condition which finds the economy suitable for cur-rency devaluation or not. For reach this goal have been calculated regression analysis with two alternative results for calculating the condition. In the first alternative, full Marshall-Lerner equation, could not be satisfaction of condi-tion proven, but nor was dissatisfaction. In the second one, where was import of Czech Republic calculated with zero value according to regression analysis result, was the condition satisfied. Results have been compared with numbers from United Kingdom and found opposed. In comparison to Slovak Republic was found Czech development of macroeconomic indicators better.
Mechanická analýza lepeného spoje dřevo - uhlíková vlákna
Harok, Jiří
This diploma thesis deals with a mechanical analysis of bonded joints between timber and carbon fibres. Bending, shear and compression tests were chosen to describe the bonded joint's behaviour. The experiments were filmed by cameras for further evaluation of relative deformation and relative shear deforation, a well as movement. The measured data were used for analysis of deformation and specimen behaviour, comparison of different wood types and specimen results, and numerical three-dimensional model compilation.
The assessment of price developments of pork meat in selected EU countries
HAUZEROVÁ, Jana
The main objective of this work is to analyze the prices of pork in selected EU countries in the period 2003-2013. This work consists of several parts. In the first part dealt with theoretical issues - agriculture sector, and therefore the Czech agriculture, the issue of the pricing in agriculture. The last part of the theoretical part contains a comparison of costs and revenues on a pig.The second part is called the methodology, this section contains instructions for calculations that are performed in solutions and results. The third part contains the results of calculations, because the prices of agricultural producers were used per 100 kg live weight and average annual wages. At the end of the work are collected all the results obtained in this work results.
