Instability in thermal plasma jet generated by water plasma torch
Hrabovský, Milan ; Konrád, Miloš ; Kopecký, Vladimír ; Macura, Pavel
Fluctuations and flow instabilities in thermal plasma jet generated in dc arc plasma torch were investigated by optical system with fast response photodiodes. The coherent oscillations were revealed that are produced due to hydrodynamic instability of plasma flow close to the exit nozzle of the torch.Properties of the these oscillations are investigated.
Desing and modification of water-stabilized plasma generator and multiphase modelling of flow in the arc chamber
Hrabovský, Milan ; Matas, R. ; Moravec, J.
Two-phase water-air flow in arc chamber of water stabilized plasma generator is modeled using computer code FLUENT. Effect of arc chamber geometry on properties and stability of water vortex is investigated on the basis of the computations.
Thermal plasma jets generated in liquid-stabilized and hybrid dc arc torches
Hrabovský, Milan
This paper presents survey of plasma jet parameters of liquid and hybrid arc torches and discusses physical mechanism that control plasma properties. Special attention is devoted to properties of jets that are important for performance characteristics in plasma spraying.
Elastic nonlinearity due to microcracks in thermally sprayed materials
Kroupa, František ; Plešek, Jiří
Thermal spraying is a process in which the material in a powder form (with particle size between 20 and 150ćm) is melted, accelerated to a high velocity (20m/s up to 600m/s) and deposited on the substrate. The microstructure of sprayed materials is complex. It consists of irregular thin lamellae known as "splats", formed by rapid solidification of the impacted molten droplets.
APS Spraying of MgO and CeO2 with WSP
Neufuss, Karel ; Dubský, Jiří ; Kolman, Blahoslav Jan ; Chráska, Pavel ; Brožek, Vlastimil ; Boháč, P.
Some oxide ceramics with high temperature meltung points are very difficult to spray.Paper reports on successful spraying of MgO and CeO2, both with Tm>2700 řC.Water stabilized plasma (WSP) with high enthalpy/high temperature plasma stream was used.
Magnetic turbulence measurements using array of Hall probes on TEXTOR-94 tokamak
Ďuran, Ivan ; Mank, G. ; Finken, K. H. ; Flecken-Krämer, A. ; Van Oost, G.
An array of 9 Hall detectors-Hall probe, was successfully used to measure magnetic field together with its fluctuations in tokamak plasmas for the first time. The complete diagnistic was absolutely calibrated in the frequency band 1.4-100kHz.The sensitivity of the probe is 1V/mT.Several examples of experimental result obtained using Hall probe on TEXTOR-94 tokamak are presented.
Neutron Scattering in Studies of Complex Anisotropic Microstructures
Matějíček, Jiří ; Ilavský, Jan ; Gnaupel-Herold, T.
Wide industrial application of anisotropic microstructures, such as those of thermally sprayed deposits, requires development and utilazation of novel characterization techniques. These techniques must be able to the anisotropy of the microstructure.Further, it is often necessary to be able study materials in situ, without sample removal and preparation. Also due to fragility of the materials
