The application of the Transport Operational Programme for the development of road infrastructure in the Czech Republic based on the example of the Central Bohemian Region
VACEK, Vladimír
This present thesis deals with the Structural Funds set up by the European Union with special regard to reducing disparities among regions. Specifically, the thesis deals with the operational programme Transport, which is financially the most taxing with individual projects costing thousands of millions. The main aim is to make clear the problems of the Structural Funds in transport and their possible use. I have tried to deal with one chosen hypothesis of which I would like to mention at least one, namely has drawing on money from the Structural Funds contributed to the improvement of Czech roads. One question is whether using money is effective and whether we would be able to build more infrastructure using the total sum made available from the Structural Funds. Let us pose a question. Whether we would have been able to construct the D8 motorway if we had not been able to draw on the Structural Funds. Perhaps we would not have been able to build so many kilometres. Therefore we can assert that investing through the Structural Funds has contributed to the higher quality of Czech roads.
Possibilities of using support of EU Structural Founds in Enhancing the Quality of Environment
JIRSA, Aleš
The aim of this thesis is to determine the public awareness about the possibilities of financial support from the EU funds on enhancing the quality of environment with the special emphasis on waste water and the WWTPs in the Czech Republic. It was studied, whether the attitudes and the public awareness play a role in the construction of WWTPs. Whereas the weight of public opinion in decision-making also testifies the extent of public decision making power on the outcomes of decision making about environmental management, the goal of this work is also to verify the degree of public involvement into the public decision making processes.

Pešicová, Kateřina ; Brown, Lenka (advisor) ; Janíčko, Martin (referee)
This work examines the effects of implememtation of solidarity principle of the European Union. The hypthesis is tested on the example of evaluation of the impact of the Structural Fonds in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work is to confirm or reject the hypothesis that the division of financial aid coming from structural funds is consistent with solidarity principle. The thesis works with the presumption that the financial aid coming from structural funds is devided according to the solidarity principle and in correspondence with provision of tertiary education in individual NUTS regions. The solidarity principle is based on a simple rule that the highest amounts of money flow to the regions that provide the lowest possibilities for university education. The first part of this work concentrates on confirmation of solidarity principle while the students remain immobile. The other part desist from the imobility of students. It is trying to identify how many students commute to other NUTS II regions and to what extent it can this influence solidarity principle implemented in the Czech Republic.

Grants utilization in financing and evaluating of investment
Salabová, Eliška ; Mikovcová, Hana (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is to specify the most suitable encouragement program for a chosen small-scale enterprise. If a suitable program is chosen the enterprise will be therefore able to gain funds from the Grants of the European Union to finance its capital project. After selection of a proper program the capital project will be evaluated by means of standard methods of evaluating investments. The results of investment evaluation will help to make decision about which source of funds (own resources, loan or combination of both) is optimal in light of profitability and risk.
