Hospodářské vztahy mezi Čínou a Spojenými Státy Americkými

The master thesis emphasizes the economic relations between China and the United States. It gives an overview and theoretical background support on the significance of contemporary the economic relations between countries in today`s globalized era. Secondly, it analyzes how the theoretical background of economic and trade relations affect the empirical case study of the economic relations between China and the USA. The goal is to show how the economic and trade relations between China and the United States influence each other`s economies and what is the effect of such relations on the economic performance of both countries. More precisely, in order to answer the question above, the master thesis deals with complex analysis in regard of historical perspective concerning the economic relations between these countries, their ongoing cooperation in terms of balance of payments, the current and potential issues what both countries face and the existing challenges for the future. In order to complete the analysis and answer the research question, list of various sources will be used, starting from academic journals, books, literature reviews, reports from the World Trade Organization (hereafter WTO), reports from the respective countries on their economic progress, data available from the ministries of trade of respective countries and other sources related to the analysis of the contemporary economic and trade relations between the countries participating in the global economy.
The use of currencies and exchange rates when reporting under IFRS vs. Czech accounting regulations

The aim of this thesis is to describe problematics of accounting and reporting of foreign currency, application of exchange rates and rise and settlement of exchange differences in reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards and Czech accounting regulations. The thesis is also focused on comparison of the dissimilarities between those systems, especially in the field of selection and proper use of foreign currencies, exchange rates and on dissimilarities in the rise and settlement of exchange differences in the various stages of the accounting period and various situations. Thesis clearly informs about problematics of currency and exchange rates and shows on practical examples application of such rules.
Optimal forward-looking policy rules in the quarterly projection model of the Czech national bank

This paper analyses the performance of the inflation forecast-based (IFB) monetary policy rules in the quarterly projection model of the Czech National Bank. The main part of the paper presents the results of an extensive grid search over various targeting horizons and coefficient values for a simple IFB rule with optimized coefficients.

Exchange rate variability, pressures and optimum currency area criteria: implications for the central and eastern european countries

This paper estimates the medium-term determinants of the bilateral exchange rate variability and exchange rate pressures for 20 developed countries in the 1990s. The results suggest that the optimum currency area criteria explain the dynamics of bilateral exchange rate variability and pressures to a large extent.

Is Slovakia making headway towards constituting an OCA with the EMU?

The goal of this diploma thesis is to assess the suitability and readiness of the Slovak Republic to adopt a single European currency. In analyzing the costs and benefits relating to Slovakia?s accession to the EMU, this thesis is guided by the theory of the OCA. The thesis provides a survey of the OCA theory, attempts to measure some of the OCA indicators and calculate OCA index for Slovakia. The results suggest that Slovakia fulfils the necessary condition for joining the monetary union, i.e. it is relatively well aligned with the euro area. The diploma thesis concludes that Slovakia is relatively suitable and well-prepared to join the euro area in 2009.
Evaluation of positives and negatives of accession of the Czech Republic to the European Monetary Union

This paper is evaluating earnings and costs of the accession of the Czech Republic to the European monetary union. It defines the Theory of Optimal Currency Areas, both classic and modern approach, and brings up arguments for and against the accession to the monetary union. Further it deals with costs and earnings of the membership in the monetary union both in theory and as an approximate enumeration. It evaluates fulfilling of Maastricht criteria by Czech Republic and simulates its stay in the ERM II system. As the conclusion it states the later date of accession as the most favorable solution for the Czech Republic.
Exchange rates and their influence on financial information in accordance with IFRS

Basic resources are the rules of International Financial Reporting Standards with accent on IAS 21 The effects of changes in foreign exchange rates.
