The concept of evil in Plato's dialogues Protagoras and Gorgias

The goal of this paper is to show what is the nature of ethically wrong action considering two of Plato's dialogues - Protagoras and Gorgias. By examining the possibility of different sorts of motivational forces, we will show that Socrates was well aware of the relevance of emotions and desires in the process of decision making. Still, he maintains the idea of reason and knowledge as the superior motivational force. We will argue that the reason why people make wrong decisions is that they do not have true knowledge of the good, moreover, they are ruled by the power of desires. We will also focus on the detrimental effect on human's soul if he follows the path of wrongdoing. Finally, we will show that Socrates offers a solution to those with miserable souls - dialogue and punishment.

T. G. Masaryk and The Czechoslovak Church

This Master´s work deals with the relation of T. G. Masaryk and The Czechoslovak Church. The goal is to give reasons why Masaryk has never entered the Church despite the Church highly recognized his ideas and was based on many of them. The output of this work is supposed to be mostly the analysis of Masaryk´s texts besides the biographical texts and the written texts dedicated to the Czechoslovak Church. This work can be divided into three main parts. The first part follows Masaryk´s religious development. The second part comprises his opinions on particular religions issues. The third part introduces the basic information about the Czechoslovak Church and the last, fourth handles especially Masaryk´s attitude to the Church.

An attempt to implement Compositional Models in Dempster-Shafer theory of Evidence

It has been published recently that some of the ideas for representation of multidimensional distributions in probability theory can be transferred into Dempster-Shafer theory of Evidence. Namely, they showed that multidimensional basic assignments can be rather efficiently represented in a form of so-called compositional models. These models are based on the iterative application of the operator of composition, whose definition for basic assignments has been introduced in [5]. It appears that a software tool supporting computations within compositional model is necessary for additional theoretical research in this framework. In this paper we will familiarize the reader with our first attempts and basic problems of the implementation itself.

Specifice of nursing muslims in conditions of the ČR

The topic of the diploma thesis is: Specifice of the Treatment of Muslims in the Condition of the Czech environment. In this diploma thesis we have dealt with the issues of the Muslims patients. We have chosen this topic as it seemed very intresting and current to us. Another reason why we have chosen this topic is the fact many Czechs converted to Islam and many foreigners with the origin in Muslim countries have come to the Czech Republic. These foreigners may come to work or to study here or simpli to travel. Thanks to the increasing numer of Muslims we can meet them in hospitals more often, too. And i this up to health professionals to provide holistic health care. With a correct attitude and certain knowlwdge of Islam the positive approach by the Muslims can be ensured as well. This diploma thesis compreises of two main parts {--} the theoretical and practical one.At the beginning of the theoretical part there is a general introduction and introduction of the essentials of multicultural nursing service. This part further contains a bief history of Islam from its very beginning, its historical development in the Czech Republic and basis informaation about Islam. The basic information regarded 5 pillars of Islam, guestion of daily life, issues concerning the foot, family, hygiene, dressing and others. The final section of the theoretical part describe the ethics in Islam, ensuring of holistic approach to Muslim patient and differences in the education of the Muslim and Czech patient. Two main objectives were determined for this paper. The first objective was to determine the nursing specifics which are connected with the Musim belief. The second objective was to elaborate educational and information sheets. Thhe practical part comprises of interviuws made with the Muslims living in the Czech Republic. They included the converted as well as the native Muslims. The result of this diploma thesis is educational sheets for the health professionals and information sheets for Muslim patients. Educational sheets should serve to health professionals to be aware in which areas the patient should be educated. Information sheets will help Muslim patients with bette adaptation in the hospital environment and with operation in it. This materials can be used also for communication between Muslim patients and medical and paramedical staff. The sane sheets can serve to ordinary patient as they contain general information suitable for all patients. Included in the sheets are communication cards with Czech-English-Arabic translation.

Tthis presented work is focused on a issue of atypical burials in medieval Bohemia. There are groups of people and the reasons which they led a community to such an action at that time. This work contains a summary of selected sites with the mentioned specific graves. Analysis and evaluation of character and significance of atypical burials in a medieval community is a part of this work.

The aim of this study is to analyze and compare four parts of consolatory writing of Jan Amos Comenius, written between the years 1662 - 1660. Jan Amos Comenius added another two parts ("Řvání hrdličky v rozsedlinách skalních" and "Smutný hlas zaplášeného hněvem božím pastýře") to The Mournful vol I and II. In opening part, the influence of Comenius life experience and political situation on creation of individual parts, is put down my study is also focused on The Mournful´s language, then List Montanovi is analysed. Finally this study analyse individual parts od The Mournful.

The thesis engages in all verses in the Gospel of John in which KOSMOS is mentioned. Of course, it examines its context which is needed to understand this term. The aim of the thesis is to determine in which meaning the evangelist uses the term KOSMOS.

Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart by J.A.Komensky as a peculiar social utopy

Jan Amos Komenský is a great figure of the Czech nation. However, despite his fame, he is a much more significant thinker than he is generally regarded to be. Labyrinth of the World and Paradise of the Heart has no equivalent in its time or in older Czech literature. Even if Komenský wrote nothing else, this book would guarantee him a prominent place in Czech literature. In Labyrinth, Komenský shows himself as a great believer who exactly uncovers human pride, uncovers imaginary and untrue independence of man and shows exactly and aptly the futility and true face of many human endeavours. Labyrinth is a merciless criticism of man. It is never nihilistic, though {--} it is always based on a deep and realistic sense of purpose, a deep feeling for the ethical. That is why Komenský{\crq}s irony {--} which is the essential accord of Labyrinth {--} is irony of sadness. Some of Komenský{\crq}s ideas are close and understandable to us; however, some are much more distant. It remains a question if what seems to us to be old, outdated or naive in Komenský, is a basis without which it is not possible to understand well and realize what we are no longer willing to identify with. Is the ``critic of rationalism{\crqq} and great believer in Komenský, so distant to us, his most important basis that gives viability and future to his own ideas as well as to all human endeavours? This work briefly describes the ideas and storyline of Komenský{\crq}s Labyrinth. Each chapter of this thesis attempts to find what is most important in the mass of text of Labyrinth and thus to briefly point out the significance of each part of the book. Sometimes exact quotations are used which should show the real sense of Komenský{\crq}s ideas in a better way. Quotations from the Bible which could be a base of Komenský{\crq}s ideas are matched to individual chapters. The attempt is to find those ideas of Komenský which could be used and could be useful in our society. On the basis of an elaboration on the book, this work attempts to point out the importance of real belief and keeping to its rules for the life of a man and a society as a whole.

The Importance of Home Care Service in a Case of Seniors with Mental Disabilities (Neurosis and Depression)

I maintain a position, that large disruptions in the mental state of the late old people are rooted in a loss of physical motion as well as they stem from vast absence of social contacts. Hand in hand with it comes an evanescence of seniors{\crq} ability to enjoy pleasure and happiness. In their declining years they are very reliant on the other people{\crq}s help. I was looking for proofs of how much the household help is only a paid service, or how much carers fulfil missing contacts and communication with the outside world for seniors.
