Application of econometric and simulation models in organizing a running race
Mihál, Filip ; Kuncová, Martina (advisor) ; Novotný, Jakub (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with application of econometric and simulation models in organizing relay running race od Tatier k Dunaju. In theoretical part the reader is introduced to basic theory regarding econometric and simulation models. Detailed introduction to od Tatier k Dunaju running race follows afterwards. There are used multiple regression models in this thesis which are used to estimate runner s time in his sector based on 10 km run reported time and track profile. Results are compared to those provided by organizer himself and between each other. Simulation models are used to analyze sufficiency of parking lots capacity, which are used by team cars while traveling between sectors. These models are compared to reality and afterwards suggestions to solve recognized issues are discussed.

Verification of model calculations for the Kaplan turbine design
Polák, M. ; Polák, Václav ; Hudousková, M.
In order to design a water turbine, the Theory of the Physical Similarity of Hydraulic Machines is used in technical practice. This principle has been known and used by manufacturers of turbines and pumps, but is not available to general public. This paper describes author's calculation program for turbine design that is well accessible to the widest possible range of users of mainly small hydropower sources. Based on the given hydraulic potential (water head and flowrate), the program determines the most suitable turbine type and calculates its main geometric parameters. In addition to numerical results, the program is also endowed with graphic output which renders in true scale hydraulic profiles of rotor blades and guide blades as well as the hydraulic profile of a spiral casing. The process of the Kaplan turbine design is used as an example in this paper. The comparisons of the calculated results with the verified standard 4-K-69 Kaplan turbine confirm the compliance of numerical results with reality.

Battered Woman Syndrome and Associated Social and Health Risks
JANOVSKÁ, Tereza
Domestic violence is currently one of the most common type of violence and includes all forms of physical, psychological and sexual violence. It occurs at all levels of society and it does not discriminate neither between age or intellectual layers. Domestic violence occurs in cases of women, men, children and even elderly people. It does not discriminate regarding skin colour, political or religious beliefs or the level of education. Violence perpetrated in privacy on our closest people is part of our entire society. Still the most common type of violence is the one perpetrated on women. Violence threatens health as well as overall life of the victim. Long-term consequences of violence against another person arise the battered person syndrome which is discussed in this bachelor thesis. This bachelor thesis is divided in two parts. The theoretical part is about basic characteristic of domestic violence and discusses its various characters, causes and its consequences for the victims. In this bachelor thesis you can also find an explanation of the division of roles by gender, according to which the idea of the authoritative man and the submissive woman is anchored in our society. Then the basic pillar of the whole theoretical part follows, which is battered women's syndrome itself. In this chapter and subchapter the onset and course of the syndrome is described by means of specialized literature. The end of the theoretical includes institutions and legal measures, which the Czech Republic established to help abused persons. The second part consists of the practical part, which is the main focus of the whole bachelor thesis. It consists of a drawn qualitative research, which consists of semi-structured interview with five female communication partners that are currently experiencing violence from their partner. Data were collected in a Crisis center for children and family. After theoretical description of the strategy, techniques and methodologies, the description of a sample and the research itself follows. The main goal is mapping the life situation of battered women. Research question focuses on identifying the actual subjective experience of battered women and their perception of a difficult situation. This thesis should lead to understandable infomation about victims of domestic violence and its consequences. Research results have shown that abused women grew up in conflicting families and in their childhood they recorded disputes between their parents. Furthermore battered women recorded psychological, medical and social impacts that lead to decreased self-esteem, loss of friends and becoming withdrawn. Battered women do not trust strangers, do not like to talk about their problem and they are convinced that it is beyond their power to emerge from this difficult situation, despite the fact that it is their wholeheartedly wish. The bachelor thesis could be beneficial to the education of social workers who are interested in the issue of battered people and could enrich the knowledge of the society in general.
