Growth and individual variability of the water scorpion Nepa cinerea (Heteroptera: Nepomorpha: Nepidae)
VILIMOVSKÁ, Lenka
It this study morphometric characteristics and the growth of univoltine predatory water scorpion - Nepa cinerea were studied on the basis of data measured on freshly killed individuals, the same ethanol - fixed individuals and dried individuals. The growth of this species has an exponential character. By comparing the morphometric characteristics of freshly killed and fixed individuals was found that the ethanol fixation influenced mainly weight of all developmental stages and total abdominal ventral length of adults. The same was found for the comparison of morphometric characteristics of freshly killed individuals and dried individuals. Other studied dimensions were not significantly deformed even by fixation or drying. Reducing of individula demensions by the influence of fixation and drying was uneven at different developmental stages. Reliable dimension for differentiating of individual developmental stages fixed material and the collected dried material is especially the media length of the body. Dimensions of fixed individuals and dried individuals is not significantly different from dimensions of freshly killed individuals. This project was supported by grant GA CR P505/10/0096.
Taxonomy of selected groups of the genus \kur{Caloplaca}
ŠOUN, Jaroslav
The thesis deals with phylogeny, taxonomy and nomenclature of selected groups of the lichen genus Caloplaca. Particularly, the C. cerina group was closely investigated using molecular methods (ITS sequences), morphology and chemistry, based on material from Europe, and to some extent also from North America and western Asia. This approach resulted in the description of three new species (C. sterilis, C. subalpina, C. thracopontica), and detected an unexpected richness of lineages. Nomenclature, taxonomy, morphology and ecology of C. aurantia and C. flavescens from the C. aurantia group were studied in detail, including selection of the neotype of the former species. Their distribution was reviewed for the territory of the Czech Republic. Poorly known taxon C. aurantiomurorum from Algeria was lectotypified and synonymized with C. aurantia. Apart from the two groups, C. phlogina and C. scythica, differing partly in thallus colour and distinctly in distribution, were examined using both molecular (ITS sequences) and phenotypic data and found to be conspecific.

The Role of Germany and Russia in the Energy Security of Present Europe
Waldhauser, Jiří ; Šauer, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Matějka, Zdeněk (referee)
This bachelor thesis analyses the state of energy security in Central Europe, under which the Visegrad group is understood, and the impact of key players in the region, Germany and Russia, on it. Not being neglected, the importance of raw materials (natural gas particularly) is not seen as the synonym of energy security, but only as one component of a broader concept. Emphasis is put on other elements of energy policy, such as the support of renewable energy, energy efficiency, fiscal policy, energy conservation and others.
Archaeobotanical analysis of the waste-vault infill from Vladislav Hall, Prague castle
IRMIŠOVÁ, Jitka
The archaeobotanical analysis of the waste infill contributed to understanding its origin and composition based of two types of sample extraction. Large amount of desiccated botanical marco-remains was determinated. Beside of the common taxa rare imported species were also captured. Some of them are the first determinations in Central Europe; one case is the first evidence in Europe at all. The richness and uniqueness of the archaeobotanical collection declare the high society status, economical and cultural centre of the Prague castle in the early modern period.
