Modulations in PLC systems
Procházka, Vít ; Kouřil, Jiří (referee) ; Krajsa, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor thesis describes principles and methods of Powerline Communications, practical usage possibilities both in industrial applications but mainly in broadband systems that may represent promising competition to conventional broadband access, e. g. xDSL connections without the need of new wiring, WIFI etc. The thesis also focuses on problems that can occur in the communication channel from the view of electromagnetic compatibility and assorted interferences. The 50 Hz frequency electric network (60 Hz in the USA) was not designed for data signal transmission, problems may arise mainly at higher frequencies and broadband communication. It is necessary to implement methods which enable transfer of information signal through a communication channel with minimalization of problems such as interference, cable attenuation, electromagnetic compatibility, bit error rate (BER), etc. Furthermore, currently used modulation principles and their characteristics are described, such as spread spectrum modulation DSSS, FHSS, traditional OFDM, alternative modulations FMT and DWMT with filter banks. The last chapter of the bachelor thesis features models of particular modulations created in the Matlab-Simulink program and the conclusion presents advantages and disadvantages of their implementation in PLC systems.
Power distribution network model
Bradáč, Lubomír ; Mišurec, Jiří (referee) ; Mlýnek, Petr (advisor)
The thesis is focused on PLC technology issues and thus the data transmission over a power-line. This work describes characteristics of the PLC technology, its usage, functional principles and used modulation techniques. The main part of the work describes individual kinds of interferences in the network. The method of necessary steps against these interferences by using the right modulation and relevant coding is also described in the thesis. On the basis of theoretical knowledge, the models of interferences are realized in Matlab/Simulink. The simulative model of power-lines with random parameters is designed and realized for each elected techniques of modulation (BPSK, QPSK, ASK, FSK). The method of PLC channels modeling is chose as a multipath signal spreading for topology with one and two branching and the dependence of their transmission functions are inquired too. The analysis of interference influence on the data transmission is performed via the created models. All acquired results are compared and evaluated in the conclusion of this thesis.
Computer modelling of data transfer over power lines
Křivka, Petr ; Mlýnek, Petr (referee) ; Mišurec, Jiří (advisor)
The master‘s thesis is focused on data transfer over power lines. The influence of connected devices on data signal is studied. In this thesis, you can find the descriptions of PLC technology characteristics, sources of signal interruption and, mainly, the method of modelling the PLC channels as a multipath signal propagation environment is thoroughly discussed. There are models of PLC channels using this method projected in Simulink. The analysis of the influence of connected devices to bit error rate of a signal is processed. The devices are modelled by connected impedance.
Holographic antenna
Klečka, Tomáš ; Polívka,, Milan (referee) ; Pokorný, Michal (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with principle of microwave holography, methods of microwave hologram recording and analyzes some types of holographic antennas from structural and functional point of view. It also includes simulations of selected holographic antennas and their modi?cations, applies optimization on three types of antennas. Finally it reviews measured results of three costructed antennas.
Michelson's interferometer
Rýc, Jan ; Klusáček, Stanislav (referee) ; Havránek, Zdeněk (advisor)
The diploma work deals with techniques of optical contactless distance and velocity measurement. A basic summary of the methods are involved. The problematic of interferometric methods for vibration measurements is analysed in detail. It contains division of interferometers, description of their function principles and also chapters dealing with elements used in interferometers such as lasers, photodetectors and elements in the ray optical way - polarizers, retarders, optical isolators. The vibration and length measurement methods are described, as well as the conception of homodyne and heterodyne detection. Part of this work focuses on the quadrature signal processing and on the proposal of algorithm for demodulation of velocity/displacement and undergoing simple motioning object deviation. This algorithm is implemented in Labview and the whole software instrument served also for visualisation of measured data of the interferometer model constructed in the laboratory. The way how to build up a model, its setting and two possible configurations suitable for homodyne detection are described. Model of interferometer is built-up on the optical breadboard. Particular components are fixed by the help of mounts. The model and software enable to measure the velocity and the vibration deviation with the light wavelength exactness. Functionality and the exactness of the laboratory model are verified by vibrometer. Effects on the measurement uncertainty are discussed here and ways how to restrain them are proposed.
Radiation pattern shaping of the optical transmitter
Csonka, Gábor ; Němeček, Jiří (referee) ; Wilfert, Otakar (advisor)
This work deals with questions of space assembling of several optics beams. There are mentioned the base features and values of space distribution of beam intensity in laser beam. The forms of diffusion of space localized light that is described by beam optics. There is a characterization of Gaussian beam, and diffraction of several beams. There is mentioned a simulation an assembling of two and more beams. It contains model of assembling incoherent beams. The work also includes suggestion of final layout of laser beams, which form optical transmitter with radiating characteristics, resistant to defects evoked by atmosphere.
Narroband PLC model
Sekot, Karel ; Krajsa, Ondřej (referee) ; Mišurec, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis is focused on data communication utilizing low-voltage power distribution lines (PLC). It describes interference in narrowband systems commonly used for remote data collecting, for example. Preamble deals with basic priciples of PLC (signal injecting) and describes the measuring workplace, its wiring and used tools. Following sections define different types and possible sources of interference, operation of the equipment in terms of EMC and other characteristics of the transmission path. The text also analyzes practical interference tests, identifies main parameters affecting data transmision and compares teoretical and practical conclusions.
Electromagnetic interference and pacemakers
Kulík, Jindřich ; Richter, Miloslav (referee) ; Havlíková, Marie (advisor)
This thesis deals with electromagnetic compatibility of implantable electro-medical devices using in cardiology. The main aim of this thesis is detection of the resistance of implantable pacemakers (PM) and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) to the electromagnetic interference. In the first part of this thesis, a function of the heart, which is necessary for understanding of PM and ICD operation, is described. The function and construction of PM and ICD is detailed in the theoretical part as well. The next part is focused on the electromagnetic compatibility. The next part is description of the measurement method and the experimental arrangement used for practical experiments with electromagnetic resistance of PM and ICD.
Optical signal detection and maesurement of low deflections using the Michelson interferometer
Kováč, Petr ; Hudcová, Lucie (referee) ; Křivák, Petr (advisor)
The dissertation is concerned with the description and utilization of interference of two coherent optical rays. In addition, the conditions of coherence and its connections with the occurance of interference are discussed. Michelson's interferometer is used for the practical utilization of the interference effect. The possibility of measuring relatively small changes is demonstrated - deviation of piezocrystal, measurement of the coherent length of optical source and measurement of the index of refraction of tramsparent materials. The manner of optical coherent detention and its utilization in optical communication systems is indicated. After demonstration of the principle was carried out the measuring of detection of optical signal modified by the external modulator.

This diploma thesis is dealing with the basic knowledge of the Electromagnetic compatibility. It’s concretely target on electromagnetic interference flowing from the application of electronic gas control by Honeywell company. Author compile the power control board with including software in language C. The next alternates of power control board with the separated microprocessor were designed for the more extended source detection. On these boards there were explored shielding surface features placed directly under the microprocessor. The application reducing the interference was designed in accordance to the rules finding out during this diploma thesis writing.
