Social abd human capital as a factor of development of peripheral areas of Czechia

Within the framework of the research focused on the polarization of space, or peripheral areas of Czechia respectively, approaches of cultural geography have been applied to a significant extent recently. As far as the issue of such areas development is concerned, the importance of the so- called "soft" socio-cultural development factors (including social and human capital) has been accentuated. The way-out is the belief that with the limited development potential of the peripheral (and rural) areas, activity and activism of local communities (quality of social and human capital) as the important internal (endogenous) development factor become more important. Despite the number of attempts, which have been made, we are not able to find exhaustive answers to questions relating to the actual importance of social and human capital (and different forms thereof) in the (socio-economic) development of these areas or the mutual relation (conditionality) thereof. For this reason, problems can be seen both in the area of theory and methodology (conceptualization) and, in particular, in insufficient verification of such theoretical concepts by means of empirical research, be specific in particular at the micro-regional up to local level. Community Planning as the Way of the Public Participation in the Development of Selected Municipalities in the Region of South Bohemia

The diploma thesis is focused on the public participation in the municipality development through the community planning methods. The main goal is the evaluation of processes of public participation in the municipal planning documents preparation for some selected municipalities in the region of South Bohemia. These documents have been created on the principles of community planning. Among the documents belong strategic town plans, community plans for health and quality of life, and community plans of social services. The theoretical part is primarily focused on the issue of local development, community planning including its principles, historical links and legal foundations. Last but not least, there is a public participation process described in the theoretical part as well. At the end of the theoretical part, there is a theory of evaluation of the successful public participation in the planning process. The empirical part relates to the mentioned theory of the evaluation of the public participation methods. The empirical part contains the analysis of the public engagement in creating documents in three particular towns: Třeboň, Dačice and Český Krumlov. The analysis aims to the approach of mentioned towns in the case of public participation, measuring related costs, assessing the success of the process according to the assigned evaluation criteria and eventually on the mistakes identification. On the basis of this analysis there are the key, determining the successful community planning implementation, defined. According to the analysis new procedures are suggested.
Regeneration of brownfields in Czech Republic with focusing on specific practical example

Bachelor thesis deals with the issue of brownfields in the Czech Republic. The first part deals with the issue at a theoretical level, the second part provides detailed analysis of a specific object "Railway Station Prague - Vyšehrad" one of the brownfields in the Czech Republic. The thesis provides a comprehensive summary of the history of the investigated object. By gathering all the available information and information obtained from interviews with representatives of the five interested institutions were proposed three possible options for the future use of the building. The most likely option has been used as an example for illustration of the possible ways of funding the regeneration of the object.
Impact of implementation of projects of the LAG Moravská cesta on the development of the Litovelsko-Pomoraví region

The thesis aims to analyze the impact of projects realized by the LAG Moravska cesta on the development of the Litovelsko-Pomoraví region. The document is divided into theoretical and practical sections. The theoretical section deals generally with the concepts of development, local development, studies different forms of cooperation between communities and other types of subjects and introduces the Rural development policy for 2007 - 2013 period. The practical section presents the LAG MC, realized projects and their impact on local development, on the top of that it also compares the objectives and priorities of the Strategic plan LEADER with realized projects. Such comparison is based on project analysis. Moreover, a survey among the mayors of member communities of LAG MC has been realized.
The local action groups in the Czech Republic in the programming period 2007 - 2013: A Case Study MAS Hlučínsko

The topic of the diploma thesis is "The local action groups in the Czech Republic in the programming period 2007 - 2013: A Case Study MAS Hlučínsko". The thesis deals with the local development and rural areas in general with a focus on voluntary cooperation with the local actors from the private, public and nonprofit sectors in Hlučínsko. The analytic part contains an analysis of the socio-economic areas, analysis of completed projects in the programming period 2007 - 2013 focused both on improving the technical and transport infrastructures and the development of rural heritage and synthesis of findings from an empirical investigation in the form of structured interviews with representatives of MAS Hlučínsko.
Brownfield site analysis within the city of Hradec Králové with focus on the revitalization of a specific object

The bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of brownfields in the city of Hradec Králové and the particular case of a successful revitalization of the former factory Vertex, now the center of lifelong learning and the central building of the Library of Hradec Králové. Based on the data collected is this object evaluated as successful, with positive implications for the city of Hradec Králové and its region. The main benefits of bachelor thesis include comprehensive view of the local development of Hradec Králové and its brownfields. Providing facts established by the case study to the CzechInvest agency could also be onsidered as an added value.
Possible stabilization effects of returnable incomes in municipal development on the example of municipalities of various sizes

This thesis focuses on specific forms of long term development stabilization by using returnable incomes in Czech municipalities of various sizes. Stabilization is appropriate when unexpected (negative) events may occur, when assuring continuity of investment activities, or financing extensive development projects. Traditional form of Keynesian countercyclical stabilization has not been confirmed on analyzed municipalities. Conversely, fiscal and budgetary behavior of the municipalities has been procyclical. The author points out the necessity of stabilization on the municipal level due to a long term non-conceptual fiscal policy of the Czech government.
Recovery program of rural municipality Miličín (district Benešov)

This bachelor thesis deals with the recovery program of rural municipality, which is situated in the district Benešov ? municipality Miličín. In the introductory chapter is given an analysis of literature on rural development and directing of it. Attention is also devoted to materials of regional and territorial development processed for addressing municipality and region. After come a characteristic of the municipality, its physiographical units and components of human geography. The main point of this work is the questioning of citizens and municipality leaders on issues of municipality development and then evaluation of this questioning. Opinions of citizens and municipality leaders are used to create improvement proposal of actions recovery program.
POSSIBILITY OF TERRITORIAL AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT AT THE AREA OF STARÉ HOBZÍ VILLAGE

The thesis is looking into development of Staré Hobzí village, which is consisted of five country residences (Staré Hobzí, Nové Hobzí, Vnorovice, Nové Dvory, Janov), specifically into drawing up a proposal of Village Renewal Programme. The introduction includes brief characteristic of the village environment in relation to territorial and local development, as well as analysis of the village literature and development materials. In the next part it gathers suggestions for the next development of the country residences, which were gained from the development materials, conversation with local experts, as well as from asking local inhabitants (extensive survey) and from personal terrain research of the residences and surrounding territory. The thesis proceeds to a proposal of structured system of activities of the Staré Hobzí Village Renewal Programme, which includes activities that support cultural and sports life, entrepreneurship, maintenance and reconstruction of buildings and public areas, completion of the technical infrastructure, and supporting the village cooperation with other villages.
