Fertility and uncertainty
Lupač, Milan ; Melzochová, Jitka (advisor) ; Matějka, Marek (referee)
This paper focuses on effects of economic uncertainty on decision making about childbearing. We had used a regression analysis of unbalanced panel dataset of 27 european countries with maximal lenght of time series of 52 years to determine relationship between fertility and uncertainty. Proxy variables like real GDP per capita, unemployment and their volatilities were used to measure the rate of uncertainty. Volatilities were created by using GARCH and EGARCH models. There was found that real per capita GDP is positively related to fertility and unemployment is related negatively. On the other hand the relationship between volatilities of real per capita GDP and unemployment are positively related to the fertility, but only till the moment when the volatility reaches turning point. Thereafter this relationship turns into negative. Positive relationship on fertility was also found for infant mortality, marriage rate and female labor participation rate. Negative relationship on fertility was found for divorce rate and old dependency ratio.

The role of the Czech woman in the family from the public
KLOUDOVÁ, Hana
The contemporary role of Czech women in the families is being discussed a lot. Czech families have significantly changed and so the role of women. A traditional patriarchal model of Czech families has been disrupted. This Bachelor thesis is mapping public opinion on the role of Czech women in the families and the difference between traditional and present models. The theoretical part deals with historical development of women roles, a current structure of Czech families, new forms and ways of spouse coexistence, birth rate decline, two-career wedlocks, family roles of men and women and their housework share. A quantitative method, a questionnaire, was used for the research survey. The questionnaire consisted of 24 closed questions and 4 closed questions supplemented with factual data. Some colleagues, friends and family members from the South Bohemian region were the respondents. All of them were over 18. From two hundred questionnaires distributed, 148 were completed and used so the return rate was 74 %. Hypothesis 1 assumed a traditional family role of the Czech woman and was confirmed. Hypothesis 2 assuming high absence of ?a new woman? in a Czech family was not confirmed. Although the findings show a prevalance of the traditional family model, the percentage of traditional views has declined compared to the previous sociological research surveys. A man has lost his traditional breadwinner role while a woman, except for her housework and child care, is fully employed, earns quite big money, attends courses of further professional development and represents her husband. The findings of this Bachelor work can serve students of social and health care studies and form a basis for further research work in this field.
The Family in the Czech Republic and its Regions
Rousová, Ilona ; Kouřilová, Jana (advisor) ; Kadeřábková, Jaroslava (referee)
This master thesis is focused on the present state of the family issues in the Czech Republic. Except the explanation of the basic terminology, it also indicates some of the areas with the family in the first place and its legal regulations and sociology investigation. It observes the actual trends in the behaviour of couples in the connection with the common life and starting family. The acquired demographic and sociological findings, valid generally for the Czech Republic, are analysed and compared with the statistical dates of the lower territory self-governing units. It also checks the rate of the regional differences above these regions (mainly at the level of districts), especially in the area of the marriage behaviour, parenthood and amount of the separating marriages. It confronts these data with the age structure of the founding family members. At the end of the graduation thesis is established whether the results of the sociological investigation and studies are consistent with the realized conclusions from the statistic data and if there exist the significant regional dissimilarities in the Czech Republic in statistic indicators which characterize the "family" behaviour of population.
