Realization of demanding computing tasks on MetaCentrum
HORELICA, Josef
This thesis deals with the realization of demanding computing tasks on MetaCentrum. For these purposes was created the manual, which should help beginners on MetaCentrum. The first part is about the basic knowledge about parallel computation, characterization of means for computing, project MetaCentrum and some applications offered by MetaCentrum. In the second part there are the practical examples of computing on MetaCentrum. The enclosed CD contains the multimedia tutorial.
Graphics card as a cheap supercomputer
Přikryl, Jan
The current powerful graphics cards, providing stunning real-time visual effects for computer-based entertainment, have to accommodate powerful hardware components that are able to deliver the photo-realistic simulation to the end-user. Given the vast computing power of the graphics hardware, its producers very often offer a programming interface that makes it possible to use the computational resources of the graphics processors (GPU) to more general purposes. This step gave birth to the so-called GPGPU (general-purpose GPU) processors that – if programmed correctly – are able to achieve astonishing performance in floating point operations. In this paper we will briefly overview nVidia CUDA technology and we will demonstrate a process of developing a simple GPGPU application both in the native GPGPU style and in the add-ons for Matlab (Jacket and Parallel Toolbox).
Interior Point Methods
Matoušová, Hana ; Černý, Michal (advisor) ; Rada, Miroslav (referee)
In the present work we study Interior Point Algorithm used for solving linear problems
Preparation of educational material for developing of GUI in MATLAB
ŠIMEK, Jakub
The aim of this thesis is to create an educational material for creating graphical user interfaces in MATLAB. The reader will learn the basic procedures of the GUI creation, get to know the various graphic objects and learn about the GUIDE environment, which is intended for the actual application development. Text is supplemented by practical examples of source code fragments as much as possible. All material is accompanied by two functional sample applications with their source code.
Solution of selected problems from operations research in Matlab
Dubový, Vojtěch ; Zouhar, Jan (advisor) ; Borovička, Adam (referee)
The bachelor thesis is dealing with the solution of optimalization tasks selected from operational research within the framework of the general computing environment Matlab. The reader is given information about working environment, basic procedure of dealing with practical tasks and problem solving within operational research. Tasks solutions were achieved by taking advantage of some Toolboxes, for example Optimalisation Toolbox and Yalmip Toolbox. The focus of the work is to present readers with a compact volume of knowledge so that they are able to deal with optimalization tasks in the computing environment Matlab.
Determination of position of moving spherical particle
Chára, Zdeněk ; Kysela, Bohuš
The paper deals with possibilities how to determine a position of a settling spherical particle with help of functions implemented in Matlab. Functions like convolution, edge detection and binary operation are used and the results are compared.
Comparison of statistical software for demographical data analysis
Tůmová, Pavla ; Löster, Tomáš (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to point out to possibilities of how to process demographic data using several statistical software systems. Programs with different approach to data processing and analysis have been chosen on purpose. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first one is theoretical. Terms and methods that have been used in the thesis are explained here and there is also an introduction to the Microsoft Office Excel, SAS and Matlab software. Second part maps sources of demographic data, attends to data formats and explains their usage and advantages. In the third part, selected tasks that are likely to encounter in demography are presented. They have been chosen so that they examine the programs from various views such as transparency, range of choice of statistical functions, ability to create graphical outputs etc. A general procedure, evaluation, output comments and own code implementation (if the functions are not integrated) are introduced for each of the tasks. In my thesis I focused mostly on the question of choosing proper software for demographic data analysis.
Mathematical model of a production line checkpoint-simulation program
Slimáček, Václav
The report is a continuation of research report UTIA No.2300 and contains the program in Matlab for simulatons of the mathematical model of a production line check point described in report No.2300
INTLAB Primer
Rohn, Jiří
Described is a not-a-priori-exponential algorithm which in a finite number of steps either finds a nontrivial solution of the absolute value inequality, or states that no such solution exists.

Preparation of web presentation on fundamental conceptions in computer physics
KŘÍŽOVÁ, Jaroslava
This Bachelor's Thesis has undertaken to acquaint high school students with basic information in the field of computer physics. The work is conceived as a textual overview which does not aspire to provide a specialization base for scientific work, but is primarily aimed at understanding the basic terms. In the introduction, I deal with the definitions of computer physics. The chapter entitled Hardware and Software Devices of Computer Physics begins with a brief description of the architecture of the computer and its historical development. This is followed by the basics of programming with a short overview of programming languages. In the chapter entitled Computer Modelling, I present a brief characteristic of this field and acquaint the reader with the basic terms and techniques of modelling. In the following chapter, the reader is acquainted with the principles associated with hybrid modelling as well as the Monte Carlo method. The fourth chapter is intended to be an interesting demonstration of modern trends in computer modelling. In the last chapters, I deal with the brief characteristic of programs that are most commonly used in the field of computer modelling (MATLAB, Fluent and COMSOL Multiphysics).
