Framework for teaching Database Management Systems on VŠE Praha
Turčín, Pavel ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Palovská, Helena (referee)
This thesis focuses on design and subsequent realization of e-learning support for the database management systems course. The first step is definition of the e-learning itself as well as other related concepts. Following part analyzes current status of teaching and evaluating students' knowledge and other possible ways to do so without changing the basic course frame defined by the given syllabus. A list of requirements on the software framework is made on basis of this analysis. These requirements are technical (demanded functionality) and economical (costs of installation and maintenance). The most suitable e-learning system is chosen according to these requirements. The chosen system unfortunately does not fulfill all specified requirements and software witch does, is not available. In this case the following step is design and realization of such software. At first are all requirements specified in detail. The software solution is designed as three independently usable applications: Exercise client, Test client and Administrator. Software is implemented in C# programming language. Whole process of implementation is divided into three increments witch corresponds with projected applications. Every increment adds new functionality to existing solution and the output of every increment is fully usable component.
Preparation of test demo database and tuning of SQL commands
Valoušek, Filip ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Chlapek, Dušan (referee)
This bachelor work deals with projecting and implementation of the demo test database, which is used for training work with relational databases. A set of educational queries submissions which enable practising query language SQL (Structured Query Language) is one part of the work. There is a well-arranged table of correct output from data test for all of queries allowing to check correct query setting. In the theoretical part there is a short mention about the principles of databases projecting and data modelling, especially about the "Three schema approaches".
SPATIAL DATA IN ORACLE DATABASE
Hanuš, Ondřej ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Krch, David (referee)
More and more applications work with digital geographical data is occurring in the present era. Users of these applications are more and more ambitious and are looking for applications that are able to assist them and give them information as simply as possible. One example of this typical information is: the shortest way to work. There are still more causes when we lose paper data because of natural disasters such as floods or hurricanes and these press us to consider data digitalization, saving and archiving data. This work describes one of the themes that should help us to solve this problem. This theme is storing and the manipulation of geographical data. Geographical data involves the problems of geographical information systems which are very often requested in the present digital era. There are many applications that are able to navigate us to a target on the internet. This problematic is not only about to find the shortest way to a target but also a lot of companies use these applications for planning and developing industrial networks, house development and they are also useful in connection with applications for facility management. Spatial data uses geographical data, and thus it is very easy to imagine that the amount of this data could very quickly reach size in hundreds of terabytes. For this size of data it is necessary to find an appropriate warehouse and mainly efficient management. This functionality is offered by the most extended database ORACLE with Oracle Spatial extension.
Application of metadata for distribution and use of multimedia files
Druhá část obsahuje návrh možného vylepšení tohoto stavu a to využitím standardu MPEG-7, technologie XML a nativní XML databáze.
Gastrosvet.cz - Advertising portal of gastronomic industry
Procházka, Petr ; Křížek, Miroslav (advisor) ; Srpová, Jitka (referee)
Popis plánování, vzniku a rozvoje inzertního portálu pohostinských zařízeních Gastrosvět.cz, jakožto vlastního projektu realizovaného prostřednictvím Podnikatelského inkubátoru VŠE.
Oracle Database Management System and Administration
Zapletal, Jakub ; Rydzi, Daniel (advisor) ; Studnička, Lumír (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the structure and administration of Oracle database. It tries to simply and clearly explain the proceses and architecture of which the database consists. Its aim is to explain the principle on which Oracle is based, and not only to describe how to install and administrate the database. Information has been gathered from my own experience and from the Oracle materials.
Access to data sources in Zend Framework.
Zikmund, Štěpán ; Pavlíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Hradecký, Radim (referee)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to give a description of architecture of access to data sources in Zend Framework and its creation based on design patterns described by Martin Fowler. The first part introduces the creation of fundamental components of architecture for access to data sources; there are four possibilities offered by Martin Fowler: Table Data Gateway, Row Data Gateway, Active Record and Data Mapper. The first part also describes the implementation in Zend Framework and selection of patterns Table Data Gateway and Row Data Gateway. The posibility of their cooperation with domain objects is also discussed. The second part is about extending the architecture's structure and behavior of its objects. Pattern Query Object and its likeness with class Zend_Db_Select follows. There is also presented Lazy load pattern and the posibility of its implemetation with Zend Framework and domain objects. Lastly, the implementation of Identity Map pattern is described.
Multimedia Data Types in Database Systems
Comparison of MySQL data storage environments
Vopička, Adam ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Pavlíček, Luboš (referee)
The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is the description of data storing possibilities offered by the MySQL database management system. The first of four chapters describes the DBMS itself in general. The second chapter describes each data storing option, implemented by so-called storage engines. The engines are described both in general and according to determined criteria. The third chapter is dedicated to the questions of DBMS benchmarking, benchmarking tools and practical benchmarking. The last part describes the choice of storage engines for specific application types. The thesis should serve as a lead when considering MySQL as the DBMS for a specific application, as much of a guide when choosing the right data storage option.
