Philosophical conception of architecture with reference to Simon Mawer's The Glass Room

This Bachelor thesis is concerned with the balance between rationality and sensibility in architecture, materialistic and spiritual aspect of architecture, the contrast between the transparency of modern architecture and the lack of transparency of human lives and the impact of the symmetry and beauty on people and their relationships in the period of time referred to (from 1929 until 1989), all with the reference to The Glass Room (2009) by Simon Mawer. The way the book is written is discussed as well.
Functionalism and the villa architecture on the beginning of the 1930´s in South Bohemia

This diploma thesis focuses on particular villas built in South Bohemian region at the beginning of the 20th century. The introductory chapters of this thesis explain the term "villa" and also briefly describe this specific type of construction. Follows the chapter summarising the most important architectural styles of the 20th century which is followed by the chapter concerning origin and development of functionalism both in the Czech Republic and in the rest of the world. The sixth chapter includes the core of this thesis by analysing particular South Bohemian villas. At this placethe author is focusing on personalities of the builders, architects hand in hand with a description of the original appearance of the buildings and their current state. The text of this thesis is for illustration amended by number of picture attachements.
Geometry in architecture

The reader will understand the relationship between geometry and everyday life. Selected curves and bodyes are mathematically described. It is illustrated with photos of architectural elements. 3D models are made in GeoGebra and SketchUp. Blending theory and practice to help understand the geometry. It can be used for teaching math and geometry. This thesis discusses about the conic, selected technical curves and quardics.
NEW ON THE „OLD“ – Brno, Bratislavská - Stará Corner

New multifunctional building is situated on the corner of Bratislavska street and Stará street in city of Brno. The new building complets the block structure and opens up the corner to the public. The ground floor is a shopping area, in the wing perpendicular to the Bratislavska street are situated office spaces and in two towers and a hanged block are housing units, communication spaces and technology background. In the basement is located the parking area for residents and visitors of the building. The proposed building brings a new standard of living environment and inventiveness.
LABORARTORY BRNO

LABORARTORY - art laboratory building - is located on small Brno circuit, on the corner of street Koliště and street Milady Horákové. Laborartory adds a sets of cultural objects built on the Ring. Convenient location nearby city center, midway between the main brno parks (Lužánky - Koliště) is fis to open parterre. Plot preserves the continuity and responds to the planned revitalization of the inner berween Koliště and Příkop streets. Main idea is capture uncoordinated flow of people across the plot, channeling it through a gallery space to focus upward motion to the artistic values and viewpoints of Brno. There is a café, a media library in the object of Laborartory and 20 parking spaces in the basement.

Contemporary Slovenian Architecture

The main goal of this thesis is to present contemporary contemporary slovenian architectural scene to the Czech audience. Since the fall of Iron curtain is the slovenian architecture regarded as the most advanced from the former Eastern bloc. During the stay in Slovenia it's succeeded to collect sufficient informations for further analysis. Daily contact with the local culture and buildings helped in understanding of the current situation in the Slovenian architectural scene. The work provides the most important architectural works from Fabiani through Plečnik, Ravnikar, Podrecca to successors of generation Sixpack. The aim of this work is to help document and analyze the causes of Slovenia success and with this conclusion help to improve the situation in our country, where there is a wide range of high-quality buildings, but they remain almost unnoticed and unknown on the international scene. The study focused which role played the biggest importance in starting Slovenian model. Work search if it's possible to re-establish cooperation in the field of architecture. The aim of these was to find out how to apply the knowledge acquired in the Czech environment. Lessons from Slovenia could be summarized in two main areas: how to successfully cultivate their land and about how to be able to report about it externally.
Cultural capital of Hradec Králové and its influence to the cultural policy of the city

Bachelor thesis called "Cultural capital of Hradec Králové and its influence to the cultural policy of the city" describes creation and development of this modern city during the last century. The thesis focuses mainly on significant buildings and constructions of the last few years. Tradition and the image of the city influence two main sectors that are mentioned here. The first of them are plans for the future, created by municipal council, the second is the lifestyle of inhabitants. The last chapter refers to investigation on public opinion.
