Water cooling intensity prediction for given thickness of oxide layer

This diploma thesis is dealing with the impact of oxide scales on heat conduction. One of the main tools that were used are numerical simulations. Heat conduction is modelled by solving partial differential equations. Regression models and artificial neural networks are used for the prediction of the influence of oxides on cooling intensity. Determination of the conditions when the cooling was intensified and comparison of individual methods of prediction are the main results of the thesis.

PharmDr. Petr Pávek, Ph.D. Title of diploma thesis: The influence of SERCA inhibitors on production of nitric oxide and secretion of cytokines in macrophages Sesquiterpene lactones of plant origin such as thapsigargin (TG) and trilobolide (TB) are potent inhibitors of sarco/endoplasmic Ca2+ -ATPase (SERCA), enhancing thus concentration of intracellular calcium. TG has been found to exhibit prospective immunotherapeutic properties. It inhibits growth of slowly proliferating and non- proliferating cells, and inhibits replication of viruses. The aim of present work was to investigate immunomodulatory potential of these compounds and compounds chemically different from sesquiterpene lactone TG, i.e. clotrimazole, artemisinin, dihydroartemisinin, curcumin. All these drugs are related to SERCA inhibition. The effects were analyzed in cultures of rat and mouse resident peritoneal cells. Production of nitric oxide (NO) by animal macrophages was assayed using the Griess reagent after 24hour's culture. Diploma thesis Lucie Ondrišíková Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drug Control, Heyrovského 1203, Hradec Králové Nowadays, high performance liquid chromatography is one of the most progressive analytical methods, which is widely used in all areas of drug analysis. Currently, the majority of analysis is done using silica columns. Despite the positive properties (e.g. available in the widest selection of particle size, pore diameter and surface area; wide selection of types of reversed phases) these columns have some limitations - e.g. there are stable only at pH = 2.0 to 8.0 and the temperature must be lower than 60řC. For these reasons new materials for stationary phases are being developed and tested. Zirconia seems to be very perspective; it is stable at any pH and temperatures up to 200řC. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with both the physical and chemical properties of zirconia from a chromatographic point of view. Electrochemical behaviour of ferrocene was studied in the medium of lyotropic liquid crystals, which serve as a matrix for the preparation of nanostructured compounds (metals and oxides). Diffusion coefficient and half-wave potential of ferrocene was determined.

Voltametrie vysoce dispergovaných měděných prášků na rtuťových elektrodách

Average size of majority of the tested powder particles was between 100 and 300 nm, which are kept in relatively stable dispersed form in electrolytic solutions by Brownian motion. Electrolytic activity of the particles was due to 10-30 nm thick surface layer of copper oxides, the outer side consisting of CuO, the inner side of Cu.sub.2./sub.O. The current due to electroreduction of surface copper oxides followed particulate mechanism: on fortuitous contact of particle with electrode surface an immediate transfer of a number of electrons takes place, determined by time of the contact and by several dynamic and steric factors. No diffusion flux of particles to electrode surface is established. The potential of particulate electroreduction is determined by electronic structure of the actual form of the solid state particle.

Modification of coating-substrate interface character of thermally sprayed coatings using electron beam technology

Tato práce je zaměřena na modifikaci charakteru rozhraní substrát-nástřik NiCrAlY povlaků nanesených pomocí technologie vodou stabilizované plazmy na substráty z oceli S235JRC+C. Přetavení žárové vrstvy elektronovým paprskem bylo zvoleno jako technologie pro modifikaci a dvě různé modifikace byly zkoumány. V práci byl proveden pokus o stanovení vlivu modifikací na adhezní vlastnosti nástřiku. Dále jsou v práci prezentovány analýzy mikrostruktury, fázového a chemického složení a mikrotvrdosti ve stavu před a po modifikaci. Během studie bylo zjištěno, že dochází ke změnám fázového složení jak během depozice, tak během modifikace elektronovým paprskem. Modifikace elektronovým paprskem způsobila roztavení oxidů původní mikrostruktury nástřiku, které následně rekrystalizovaly na povrchu modifikované vrstvy. Dalším získaným poznatkem bylo, že dochází ke snížení mikrotvrdosti po modifikaci, což bylo způsobeno odstraněním oxidů z mikrostruktury a promícháním materiálu substrátu a původního nástřiku. Adheze nástřiků v as sprayed stavu byla kvantifikována. V případě nástřiků modifikovaných elektronovým paprskem přesná kvantifikace nebyla možná, z důvodu předčasného porušení na rozhraní nástřik-adhezivní pojivo během adhezních testů.

Preparation of DNA binding domain of transcription factor Fox04 for tryptophan fluorescence measurements

This thesis was worked up as a part of a project that is concerned with the manner of interaction of 14-3-3 proteins with forkhead transcriptional faktor FoxO4. 14-3-3 proteins are proteins interacting with a considerable amount of cell proteins. They affect activity and cell localization through this interaction. Transcriptional factor FoxO4 plays significant role in regulation of a cell cycle, apoptosis, respond to oxidative stress and many other cell proceses. Transcriptional aktivity of FoxO4 is regulated through phophorylation by protein kinases B. This phosphorylation induce inhibition of FoxO4/DNA binding, induce FoxO4/14-3-3 binding and thus relocalization of this complex from a cell core to cytoplasma. One of main goals of this project is to explain molecular mechanisms of these interactions. Main goal of this thesis was to create cDNA of a mutational protein FoxO4 containing just two tryptophan residues by site directed mutagenesis and after gaining this cDNA to express and pyrity this mutational FoxO4. This mutational protein was going to be a part of a model system for conformational changes studies. Besides expression and purification of 14-3-3 protein that is also part of our model system was performed.

European Union and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Next year will the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories celebrate the 50th Anniversary. European Union, the most significant trade partner of Israel as well as the biggest donor of Palestine, was for a long time a mere observer of a situation of deepening of the occupation and postponing of its end because of building of Israeli settlements on the one side and of gradual division of Palestinian territories between radical Hamas and Fatah. Just in the autumn of 2015 the European Union decided to take a restrictive step towards Israel by setting clear rules of labelling of Israeli goods produced in those Israeli settlements. However, a harsh response has come both from the Israeli government and from some of EU member states. Therefore this work focuses on evaluation of the legitimacy of this move and on trying to assess the reason of its partial failure.

Reactor for the preparation of nanoparticles in plasma discharge

New variety of a plasmachemical reactor for the preparation of nanoparticles from liquid or aerosol precursors in which liquid precursors were brought into the current of plasma in the places where the temperature reached 4000K–5000K was reconstructed. As a generator of plasma was used the plasma torch WSP® which was developed and patented by IPP AS CR. We worked on liquid precursors which were H[AuCl4],AgNO3 and H2[PtCl6],that decomposed in the high temperature environment and so colloidal solutions of metallic nanoparticles of gold, silver and platinum were emerged in concentration of 5mg/l–50mg/l with the size of particles 25nm–100nm depending on the starting point of the precursor concentration. Further experiments for preparation so-called double oxides served us as a check of universality of this method but also its wide adaptability.That was the preparation of spinel MgAl2O4 and ferrite CoFe2O4 from the sulfate solutions.By the horizontal device arrangement it is possible to

Diploma thesis deals with the exhaust system able to pass emission restrictions Stage IV. How emissions are produced as well as how could be minimized is described. Analysis of components lay out necessary to AdBlue injection is mentioned. Main part of this paper handle with given design of exhaust system combining diesel particulate filter, as well as filters required to reduce nitrogen oxides. Strength analysis covering vibrations, welds, fatigue and life is concluded. Thesis is made for Zetor Tractors a.s. purposes.
