Analysis of engineering geological and geotechnical conditions in the MSW landfill Úholičky
Matoušová, Jana ; Kudrna, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Rout, Jiří (referee)
This thesis analyzes the engineering-geological and geotechnical conditions MSW landfills in Úholičky. It includes the methodology of field mapping and documentation work, evaluation of natural conditions the area of interest, the assessment of geotechnical properties of rocks and soils and geotechnical conditions at the landfill and finally deals with risk analysis MSW landfill in Úholičky. At the same thesis includes a search of domestic and foreign literature. The outcome of their work is the engineering map, evaluation and interpretation of the data from the MSW landfill settlement Úholičky. This interpretation has use for further progress of the construction landfill. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The effect of dump waters on the quality of surface stream in Czech Republic
Samšuková, Eva ; Benešová, Libuše (advisor) ; Křenková, Marcela (referee)
A landfill leachate is a chemical solution generated in the waste materials that are dumped in a landfill. According to the increasing amount of waste produced worldwide the risk that leachate water gets out of a landfill and contaminates with contained pollutants surrounding environment, e.g. nearby surface water, rises. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effect that leachates have to surface water in the Czech Republic. The research was built on primary data that had been obtained in several landfills in the Czech Republic. Important sources were also obtained through the secondary literature. Possible influence of leachates is also outlined by chemical calculating illustrating a hypothetical situation of leaking landfill water to a stream. My research showed that the impact of landfill water on surface water presents a great risk. It can occur during ordinary operations of the landfill operations - due to instable technical installation or due to dumping waste with a different extract conditions, but also as a consequence of extraordinary situations (e. g. storms). Surface water is mostly polluted with heavy metals, chlorides or nitrogen in variety of its forms. High concentration of organic matters is also detected by COD and BOD indicators. Exceeding legal limits threatens the whole surface...
Modern alternate types of sealing barriers analysis for landfills
Matoušová, Jana ; Sedláček, Jaroslav (referee) ; Kudrna, Zdeněk (advisor)
People and waste on our planet is constantly increasing, and so despite the unattractiveness topic the landfills are the current and noticeable issue. This paper deals with the standards and laws relating to landfills, from which they depend for the creation and construction. I should present an overview of the different variants of application materials to the construction of the landfill could be used, and today sealing landfills are available for engineers. But just I do not engage in alternative sealing options as well as standard which are still widely used methods of sealing landfills. To the situation in the Czech Republic stated in a global context, I give examples of coping with the landfill in other countries such as Chile, where they try to use local raw materials. What is landfill waste and security are concerned; our model may be one of our neighbours - Germany, which in this part is devoted to most extensively. Each of these options has its pros and cons. I leave at will and view of each reader to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each solution. It is also possible to adhere to the already proven and well used ways of depositing, in their modernized and improved form.
Quality control of biodegradable waste process
Krbalová, Maria ; Fiala, Alois (referee) ; Koška, Petr (advisor)
The waste production and especially biodegradable waste is following mankind since the beginning of his existence. This thesis deals with a description and dividing of current available waste process technologies, including description of their advantages and disadvantages. The work is also focused on the more detailed description of the composting technology, its control and opportunities to influence on resulting parameters of compost product. The information about technical description of workplace equipments, including industrial and technological processes was provided by the company VIA ALTA from their compost plant in Blansko.
Secondary materials from household waste and their position in the global market
Tesař, Jan ; Šomplák, Radovan (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
The barchelor thesis is focused on the issues of material recovery of municipal waste. The work presents the basic concepts of waste management and resource data to help analyze the current virtual situation in the field of waste management. Work specifies the components with the greatest potential for material recovery. For the selected folder, which can be commonly referred to secondary raw materials, work tries to describe the flow of materials and meet with their potential application in the market.
Landfill Sites and Landfill Gas Risks
Klímová, Zdeňka ; Vávrová, Milada (referee) ; Valášek, Rudolf (advisor)
This work is focused on landfills and landfill gas that is created by decomposition of organic substances. Municipal waste, its origin, properties, practical use and risks related to landfill gas are discussed. At the end of the theoretical section the limits of explosiveness are specified. The practical section deals with the most important properties of methane and carbon dioxide. A photograph of a landfill site, located in Brno – Černovice, is included in the final section.
Energy utilization of the biodegradable component of municipal waste in the city of České Budějovice
SÝKOROVÁ, Žaneta
My thesis is aimed at the possiblities of collecting and utilizing the biodegradable component of municipal waste in the specific environment of České Budějovice. The thesis includes a proposal to construct a municipal biogas plant to decrease the volume of mixed municipal waste. The goal of this part of the thesis is to compare expected costs and income of the project and determine the general economic indicators and evaluate the investment, so that the project can be either fully recommended or rejected.
Historical development and conditions in processes with separated municipal waste in Czech republic
MOJŽIŠ, Lukáš
The aim was to map the first and second link in the chain municipal waste management, particularly with municipal sorted waste. I focused on the core components of municipal waste - paper, plastic and glass. The thesis examined public awareness about waste, how well informed they are and whether people are interested in products made from recycled materials. The second part was to describe the situation in a company dealing with waste, described problems are encountered and to find the steps that would lead to improve this situation
Management condition of separated organic household refuse in České Budějovice
BALÁŽOVÁ, Lucie
In first part of this thesis was create a questionnaire, which has been applied to the chosen locality in České Budějovice. In the questionnaire were these types of questions: if inhabitants know what is the organic household refuse, if they take advantage of separating facillity of these refuse, what kind of separation meet they own needs, if they know about facillity of throw away of organic household refuse through the protabel collective truck in the year 2009 and next questions relevant to these theme. In the second part was get at the legislative and other conditions for the treatment of organic refuse in towns of the Czech republic. In these part was specified average value of annual organic househole refuse in České Budějovice and was process the information about waste collectors, containers and other waste-processing equipments
Remediation of the old landfill Písek - Ptáčkovna
CHOMA, Michal
The goal of this thesis is to summarize and evaluate the remediation of the landfill Písek {--} Ptáčkovna. The landfill hasn{\crq}t been remediated in the typical way due to lack of financial sources. The easiest and cheapest actions have been taken. Though the landfill impacts its environment by increased concentration of chlorides in the landfill leachate, which is let-out to neighbouring stream, no significant threat to surrounding ecosystem was proved.
