Discovery of Natural Radioactivity and New Development of the Town of Joachimsthal , Bohemia in the first half of the 20th Century
Těšínská, Emilie
Early research into natural radioactivity, closely connected with the uranium minerals, stimulated new development of the old mining town of Joachimsthal in Bohemia in the first half of the 20th century. Radioactive waste material from the uranium dye production in Joachimsthal served as material for the first radium preparations processed by Pierre and Marie Curie. The high concentration of radon in watter of Joachimsthal mines was measured by Austrian physicists Heinrich Mache and Stephan Meyer in 1904. In 1906, the first private radon spa was organized in Joachimsthal by medical doctor Leopold Gottlieb.

Methods of the separation of the base flow and trends of nitrogen concentrations in this base flow
MAIEROVÁ, Monika
This Bachelor thesis is aimed to clarify the hydrological cycle, hydrological balance, groundwater hydrology, the selected basic baseflow separation methods of comparing them and last but not least, nitrogen cycle, nitrogen, nitrates, ammonia nitrogen and nitrogen in groundwater. In the work there is also closely analyzed the total, surface and subsurface outflow and the detailed division. The methods of the groundwater baseflow separation are described with regard to content of nitrogen compounds., which currently create the most common type of pollution of groundwater used as drinking sources.

The possible solutions for increasing nitrogen removal efficiency in constructed wetlands used for wastewater treatment.
PÁDECKÝ, Vít
The thesis is conceived as a grant application for project financing. A objective of this project is to determinate influence of layout of a constructed wetland on efficiency of nitrogen removal from influent wastewater.

Household Behavior and Evaluation of the Environment - May 2015
Čadová, Naděžda
In May CVVM survey was focused on environmental issues. Respondents were asked about how satisfied or dissatisfied they are with the state of environment in the Czech Republic and in their place of residence. We also examined whether people are interested about information about the state of the environment and whether Czech households behave environmental friendly.

Gaseous products of microbial decomposition of organic pollution in constructed wetland used for wastewater treatment.
ŠTĚPÁNEK, Jindřich
This master thesis is dealing with monitoring of gaseous products of microbial decomposition of organic pollution in constructed wetland. This wetland was used for wastewater treatment in a village Slavošovice, Czech Republic. Emissions of CO2, CH4 and N2O were measured in one treatment bed of the system. The emissions were quantified, their seasonal course was followed, and the main factors affecting gaseous emissions were identified. Only 3 % of total C emissions were in form of methane, N2O emissions were negligible and only 1,5 % of nitrogen denitrified were in form of N2O. Carbon and nitrogen balances of the system were estimated.

Electrochemistry of selected halogenated pesticides and their complexes with cyclodextrins
Sokolová, Romana ; Hromadová, Magdaléna ; Pospíšil, Lubomír
A detailed investigation of electrochemical properties of triazine pesticides, carboxyimid-type pesticides and benzonitrile pesticides was studied. Their degradation pathways include the protonization reactions coupled with electron transfer and several side chemical reactions. The study of inclusion complexes of halogenated pesticides with cyclodextrins was performed. The inclusion into the molecular cavities markedly influenced the decomposition mechanism of these compounds by protection of reactive groups by cyclodextrin environment. The degradation products were identified by GC-MS analysis and in-situ IR spectroelectrochemistry.
