The fresco decoration by Felix Anton Scheffler in the church St. George and St. Martin in Martínkovice

This bachelor thesis focuses on the fresco decoration in the Church of St. George and St. Martin in Martínkovice, which was created by Felix Anton Scheffler in 1748. Firstly, the thesis deals with history and typology of the church, followed by the description of works by the architect Martin Allio. The greatest part of the thesis is devoted to the painter Felix Anton Scheffler and his works reaching from Silesia to Bohemia. The author mentions Felix Anton Scheffler´s teachers - Cosmas Damian Asam and Johann Christoph Grooth. The main part of the thesis is focused on frescos which are subject to an iconographic and formal analysis and also focuses on restoration work. Scheffler´s works are put into the context of baroque paintings in Bohemia. The last part concentrates on searching patterns that are used in the fresco in the Church of St. George and St. Martin in Martínkovice. The author compares frescos from Martínkovice with Asam´s other works from the period between 1720 and 1725.
Diseases depicted in fine arts
FÜRSTOVÁ, Anežka
Diseases in the arts represent a broad and little-explored topic. There is no consistent publication in the available literature. This theme deals with the scientific discipline of palaeopathology, which investigates diseases of past human and animal populations. This work contains description of how diseases, injuries and congenital defects are depicted in fine arts. At first the palaeopathology, its history, sources and the difficulties associated with the verification of the data are elaborated. The main part of the work involves classification of diseases found in the fine arts and its analysis, which is supplemented by historical context. The aim is to gather knowledge of diseases that appear in the visual arts, using available literature.
Cult of St. John of Nepomuk and selected monuments in South Bohemia

The main theme of this bachelor thesis is the cult of patron saint and martyr St. John of Nepomuk. First I focus on his life and tragic death and then I continue with description of a development of the cult. This part I extend with chapters dealing with Nepomuck's festivities homiletics and songs. Next I examine iconography of St. John of Nepomuk and present examples of portrayal of the saint in solitary scenes and narratives cycles. The following part of the thesis contains comprehensive summary of extensive use of St. John's monuments and it contains presentation of particular churches in Prague and regions of Bohemia. In the last chapter I deal with chronological description of individual St. John of Nepomuk's churches located in South Bohemian Region.
Ancient motifs in the world of the last Rosenbergs

The diploma thesis deals with the forms of self-representation of the last Rosenbergs. They were using the representations to support their political positions. The paper is based on a study of the panegyrics and symbolic decorations of the Rosenbergs' castles that were used to present the virtues of the Renaissance nobleman. The study analyzes Roman motifs of the Rosenbergs' propaganda. It tries to capture the views of particular individuals on selected ancient motifs from representation of the Rosenbergs. Ancient exempla presented the Rosenbergs by using the language of symbolic communication as Christian knights.
Culture and Ideology in the light of the iconography of Czechoslovak paper money of second half of the 20th century

The presented diploma thesis is dedicated to the Czechoslovak paper money is-sued after 1948 until 1989, which is used as a source of historical memory. On paper money is mainly investigated their thematic content, which passed for their development time significant changes and that reflected important needs of the communist regime. The basic source for research this theme is paper money of defined period with taking into account the pre-war paper money because of their comparison. In addition, consideration is given to archival sources, contemporary posters, films, literature, songs, etc. The main target of this work is to determine how paper money reacted to the change of the political system after 1948 and how it was reflected by the users them-selves. It will also be monitored the rise of Soviet influence, sphere of allegorical humor and reflection of artistic community.
Antonín Markus, the archivist of the town of Třeboň, and Zdeněk Wirth, the arthistorian - analysis and selective edition of the common correspondence

As it is obvious from the title of the graduate work "Antonín Markus, the archivist of the town of Třeboň, and Zdeněk Wirth, the arthistorian - analysis and selective edition of the common correspondence, the authoress primary intended to prepare the analysis and elaboration of the edition of the unique epistular collection, which covers almost a half of century of the mutual friendship and cooperation of the two important representatives of the Czech cultural scene of the first and the beginning of the second half of the 20th century. The editated correspondence is a part of the personal inheritances of the both mentioned men which is saved in the State region archive in Třeboň (Antonín Markus) and in the Institute of the history of art of the Academy of sciences of the Czech republic (Zdeněk Wirth).The first part of the diploma work brings the general essay on the correspondence as an object of the scientist´s interest and the survey of the authors of the certain works on the edition analysis of correspondence of the various personalities. Next chapter introduces the used sources and special literature which the authoress used. The life stories of Antonín Markus, the longtime archivist of the Třeboň Schwarzenberg´s archive, and Zdeněk Wirth, our eminent arthistorian and organizator of the monument preservation, are presented in the individual biographies. Next part of the work shows the analysis of the correspondence from the view of the condition and amount, kind of communication, frequence of answering and the outer look of the individual documents, which is ensembled with the topic analysis of it´s content. The commented selected edition is followed by the editing notice and the name index. Other part brings of course the list of sources and used literature. The end of the diploma work includes the visual enclosures which suitably enrich the written part.
Christ´s Agony in the Garden by the Master of the Hohenfurt Altar and the Master of the Wittingau Altar

This work is an introduction to the theme of medieval painting. Besides the artistic point of view, it offers to deal with the matter from a wider angle. It reveals that in depth this issue touches not only art, but also history, theology and culture. It analyzes in detail two paintings of the same iconographic theme, Christ?s agony in the Garden. One of the paintings is by the Master of the Hohenfurt Altar and the other one by the Master of the Wittingau Altar. It intends to show on one hand the influence of the Cistercian spirituality on the painting by the Master of the Hohenfurt Altar and the influence, and on the other the influence of the Augustian Canons on the painting by the Master of the Wittingau Altar. Each chapter is completed by pedagogical suggestions related to the theme at hand. This provides a wide scale of specific activities from which teachers can draw or use them as a source of inspiration for their own preparation.
Fresco decoration in Lnáře castle

The bachelor thesis "Fresco decoration in Lnáře castle" focuses on historical development of the castle together with the lineage that was acting on the dominion. The main part is focused on the analysis of iconographic themes of the mural fresco decoration in the quarters of the castle. The thesis is divided into three main chapters. The first part is dedicated to the history of the castle with a view to the cultural historical profile of the castle holders. The second part is focused entirely on the mural painting decoration. At the end I'm trying to formulate other options of further research with a view to the frequency of the motives used in decoration paintings in mansions from the 17th century. The aim of this thesis was to draw conclusions about themes of frescoes in dependence on the date of their origin.

Progression view of Olomouc town in the visual art Thesis is engaged in the development of Olomouc town, displaying the visual arts from past to present. It shows transformations of the significant Olomouc cultural relics, and general views of the town on the particular arts in the progress of centuries, and supplies it with a brief history. This work notices art design of individual views of the city, and uses a comparative method according to the time when these views were taken. It mentions the changes of form and conception of the view of Olomouc town, and presents the recent artist production intercepting a town panorama, sights or its parts in their works. In conclusion it judges an arts portraying Olomouc town, which are valuable to arts in the Czech and development in region as well.
The iconography of the statues of Virtues and Depravities in Kuks

The sculptures named "Virtues and Depravities", situated in the hospital area in Kuks, belong to the most acknowledged works by the Czech sculptor Matyáš Bernard Braun, a representative of the Baroque era. In the literature concerning this work of art, only little information has been published on the iconography of the sculptures. The aim of the Batchelor Work by Marcela Vodrážková is to find graphics which could have served as a pattern for Braun while making his unique set of sculptures.
