Microstructure and hardness of TiB2
Halasová, Martina ; Bača, L. ; Šajgalík, P. ; Chlup, Zdeněk ; Dlouhý, Ivo
MICROSTRUCTURE AND HARDNESS OF TIB2 TiB2 in its pure form is extremely hard material with high melting point. This behaviour predetermines it to be used as e.g. nozzles, armour or wear parts. It is also very brittle and the effort is to decrease brittleness trough addition of various dopants. This contribution deals with the TiB2 dopped with Ta and Ni in various ratio. For observing the microstructure was used SEM and Vickers hardness was calculated by measuring the diagonals of indents. For comparison the values obtained by machine were shown in graph, too.
Early Modern archaeological assemblages from Prague Castle and period written and iconographic sources
Blažková, Gabriela ; Frolík, Jan ; Žegklitzová-Veselá, Jana
The main goal of this work was to introduce Early Modern finds of ceramics and glass from Prague Castle. As a starting source for this study were used eight find collections of cesspits originating from the Prague Castle area belong to houses located along the northern and western edge of the Third Castle Courtyard. The above mentioned collections of finds represent mainly features unearthed in the years 1925-1932 or 1957. The only recently discovered cesspit represents a feature (OBJ. 1) from the House No. 34/IV on the Jiřské square. The study is attempting to answer the question, in the cooperation with archive sources, how much can the cesspit-fillings reflect social position of their users.
Communication - a relief triptych
UHERKOVÁ, Iveta
ANOTATION My diploma thesis called ?Communication? consists of two parts ? a theoretical part and a practical part. The aim of the theoretical part is to clarify the motivational resources which strongly influenced the manipulation with the topic. This part deals with my inspiration, clarifies the reasons why I chose this topic, and it also deals with the material and the technological process until the final installation of the work. This part also consists of picture documentation, draw designs and plastic sketches. The second practical part deals with an artwork itself. The three ceramic reliefs are portraying converging horizontal lines. It is connected with a simple geometry which precisely explains the dynamics of the communication joints. The aim was to create abstract reliefs which express movement, a variety of directions, relevancy and harmony.
Probability of destructions in total joint endoprosthesis ceramic heads using Weibull's theory.
Fuis, Vladimír ; Málek, M. ; Janíček, P.
The probability calculation using two variants of Weibull weakest-link theory is presented in this article. The first varian assumed only one tensile stress (the first principal stress) and the second variant assumed all three principal stresses in the ceramic component.
Analysis of Czech export development in chosen field - glass industry, jewellery glass
Ševčíková, Linda ; Plchová, Božena (advisor) ; Nigrinová, Lenka (referee)
The thesis named Analysis of Czech export development in chosen field - glass industry, jewellery glass describes a development of glass and ceramics industry in Czech lands and in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to analyze export development of glass and ceramics products, mainly in the 21st century. Conclusions are based on data of Harmonized System from the Czech Statistical Office. It is clear that the importance of export of glass, jewellery and ceramics is not as high as it used to be before WWII, however, the value of export increased in 2010. The future of the Czech glass-work is represented by orientation to technologically sophisticated products which cannot be easily produced on the cheap Asian markets.
Structures of Society
PILEČEK, Jan
Implementation of the topic of the thesis is based on an interpretation of the question of individuals´ identification in the society, using particular materials. This topic has to be perceived, reflected and evaluated subjectively. The method of autoreflexion led the author, while searching his own way of expression, to non-traditional materials and a specific way of working with them. Theoretical part of the thesis explains his statements, sources of inspiration and possibilities of employing author´s experiences in the process of teaching.
Crocks of Safari -mosaic images, a diptych
DOULÍKOVÁ, Radka
My graduation thesis is called {\clq}qCrocks of Safari`` and it is divided into two main segments. The First part is theoretical which explains my inspiration, choice of theme and material, method of working - starting with design, ending with final artwork and its installation. It also considers the techniques of mosaic creation. It includes image documentation, which enriches and completes the text. The Second part is practical which includes its own graphic creation. That is two mosaic images made out of combined material {--} ceramics and glass (mirror) inserted into a metal frame. It features graphic structures and elements of an African fauna. It specifically interprets cut outs from herd of zebras and their typical stripes. My goal was to create abstract images where you can feel the character of used material and harmony of natural structures.
Painted folk decor on ceramics
MICHNOVÁ, Lenka
The main aim of my master thesis is to describe the development of painted folk decor on ceramics since the arrival of Anabaptism in the Czech Republic. Selected Moravia workshops are used to track the decor development. Another goal of this thesis is to find out whether workshops that produce ceramics and subsequently paint it in the traditional way exit even today. Next part of my thesis is devoted to selected Czech workshops that produce painted ceramics. A presentation consisting of photos is included as well as a literature research.
Animal ceramic sculpture
ZBYTOVSKÁ, Ivana
The master{\crq}s thesis is divided into three parts. The introductory part is concerned with the turtle from a professional viewpoint. The historical development and symbolism of this creature are dealt with, as well as palaeontological findings and relevant bits of interesting information. The following chapters are primarily practical. This practical work on the ceramic sculpture, though, is also based on the study of relevant literature. The third part provides a photodocumentation to the text. It features the final product as well as the process of its creation.
Fracture behaviour of ceramic laminates with strong linked layers
Chlup, Zdeněk ; Slabáková, Lenka ; Drdlík, D. ; Hadraba, Hynek ; Dlouhý, Ivo
Multi-component ceramics materials having layered structure possess potential to be more convenient than monolithic ones. Depending on design a number of laminated structures can be distinguished. The most common division is by behaviour of layer interface i.e. with strong or weak interfaces. In this contribution the fracture behaviour of the laminates with strong interface allowing creation of residual stresses within layers will be described. Presence of residual stresses can enhance fracture properties. The alumina and zirconia were the components and electrophoretic deposition was used to prepare the laminate. Fracture behaviour was investigated using three point bending test of SEVNB specimens. Fracture surfaces were reconstructed and crack propagation changes were determined. Influence of residual stresses on fracture behaviour was found and described.
