Baranová, Michaela ; Musil, Jan (advisor) ; Vanduchová, Marie (referee)
Selected criminal law aspects of youth criminality Abstract The aim of this thesis is to point to selected aspects of criminal law, which distinguish prosecution and sanctioning of youth offenders from general provisions applicable to adult offenders. Youth offenders can be divided into two groups according to the Act No. 218/2003 Coll., on Liability of Juveniles for Illegal Acts and on Juvenile Justice. The first group consists of children, i.e. those offenders who do not reach fifteen years of age at the time of the offense. The second group consists of adolescents, i.e. those offenders who reach fifteen years of age but do not reach the age of eighteen at the time of the offense. These two groups of offenders are treated somewhat differently than adult offenders in the criminal proceedings, and the system of sanctions used to punish these offenders is also different from sanction schemes imposed on adults. In this thesis, the author outlines these differences and discusses selected aspects in more detail. The thesis also provides a historical excursion into the Czech criminal law that regulated the juvenile justice on the territory of the Czech Republic before the Act on Juvenile Justice came into force. Moreover, the thesis provides an overview of the minimum age for criminal responsibility in the Czech...

Gambling in Juveniles
VÍŠKOVÁ, Michaela
I have chosen the topic of my bachelor paper ``Gambling in Juveniles{\crq}q because of its seriousness and topicality. The pathologic gambling has been more and more penetrating among juveniles to whom it causes, in the same way as in the adult population, more and more serious problems in the socio-economic sphere. This serious social pathologic phenomenon can be compared to drug addiction even though it does not damage human body in such fatal way. However, it affects the sphere of human psyche as well as the sphere of one{\crq}s social relations. And in the same way as drug addiction it has, in many cases, fatal impact on human life. My bachelor paper aims at finding out the extent and triggers of gambling in the population of high school juveniles in the area of Havlíčkův Brod. In the theoretic part of the paper specifics of gambling in children and juveniles are described as well as possible prevention of this phenomenon. Further diagnostic criteria of a pathologic gambler are described, the personality of a gambler is characterized, stages of development of pathologic gambling are defined and the corresponding legislature is dealt with. To fulfill the outlined goals, data were collected by means of the method of quantitative survey using anonymous questionnaires at six high school type schools (gymnasiums, professionally oriented high schools, craft oriented high schools). The questionnaires monitor students{\crq} experience with gambling machines and their reasons for gambling. The questionnaires further monitor students{\crq} awarness of the issue as well as prevention carried out at school they study at. On the basis of the survey I have checked three presumed hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: Students of craft oriented high schools yield more frequently to gambling than students of other high school types and gymnasiums. This hypothesis proved right. Hypothesis 2: Boys tend to yield to gambling more than girls. Also this hypothesis proved right. Hypothesis 3: Juveniles yield to gambling machines and to gambling more often under the influence of another person than from their own tending. This hypothesis proved wrong. The results of my bachelor paper can be used for the needs of further survey, for the needs of teaching and preventive measures at educational institutions and to increase the awareness concerning the gambling problematics in juveniles.

ZAPLETALOVÁ, Tereza
This thesis deals with the issues of the German educational and therapeutic facility Frostenwalde as an alternative to detention for juveniles. The educational and therapeutic facility Frostenwalde, which falls under successful German organization Evangelisches Jugend-und Fürsorgewerk (the Evangelical Care for Youth and Needy), works under the project Menschen statt Mauern/People instead the walls. The first part deals with this issue from a theoretical point of view. It outlines an explanation of the Menschen statt Mauern project; it focuses on the analysis of the legislative basis for the possible establishment of similar facility in the Czech Republic and it describes the structure and activities of this facility. The combination of qualitative and quantitative research was chosen to handle the second part. The first technique of data collection was a semi-structured interview that contained open-ended questions. Additional questions and more specific questions were also asked. The respondent group consisted of selected employees of the Frostenwalde facility. The second technique was a content analysis of numerical data. Statistical data on the facility operation was analyzed. The objective of the thesis was to evaluate the activities of the German educational and therapeutic facility Frostenwalde through a set of research questions. The aim of the research questions was to find out about the effectiveness of Frostenwalde and about the motivation of Frostenwalde employees for their activities. Based on the results obtained through the research, I concluded that the Frostenwalde facility is more effective and more acceptable alternative to detention for the overall development of juveniles. The research also showed that a prerequisite for the functioning of this type of facility is a perfectly coordinated, respectful team composed of experts in their profession. The motivation of all the employees is considered to be an important factor. In my opinion, the Czech Republic joining the Menschen statt Mauern project and building a similar facility would benefit in new opportunities for life without punishment of young people committing offences. This thesis may serve as a source of comprehensive information on the Frostenwalde facilities for potential employees of similar facilities and the general public.
