The period contains last twenty years, from the velvet revolution in 1989, over the decomposition of the Czechoslovakia, break the century, joining the Europian Union till presence. The thesis covers the concepts and definitions of the insurance market, modern trends, statistics and legislative changes in the whole period.

The first part of thesis presents History of MTPL, next part includes current legal regulations and explains basic concepts of MTPL including Czech Insurance Agency status. Main part of thesis is focused on analysis of Czech insurance market with emphasis on MTPL. This part of thesis also contains practical examples and comparison of insurers price quotations.

Diploma thesis focuses on definition of investments both from economic (financial) and accounting point of view. It solves question of all institutional investors at financial market -- which assets to choose in order to have their investments placed in safe, profitable and liquid way. Besides question -- how to place the investments -- specific aspects of financial reporting under Czech accounting standards and International Financial Reporting Standards are discussed. Practical part analyzes actual financial investments of insurance companies operating at czech insurance market.

The thesis is focused on the development of the Czech system of insurance in last eight years. The aim of the paper is to analyse the development of the Czech insurance market by several indicators and to find the reasons for this development. The thesis covers the most important moments that influenced the Czech insurance market like the floods in 2002 or joining the EU and the legislative changes resulting from it. Modern trends that started to appear in the Czech insurance market like IT innovations, bankassuarance or CRM, are also mentioned in my thesis.
