Glitch within art and its evolution
Zábrodský, Petr ; BLAŽÍČEK, Martin (advisor) ; POSPISZYL, Tomáš (referee)
The focus of this paper is the development of art that implements technological error, known as glitch. It covers the whole spectrum, from the musical origins of glitch up to its contemporary multi-disciplinary state. This paper does not omit a mention of the theory of glitch and its wider importance within the frameworks of culture, society and the history of art. Glitch is, due to its essence, dependent on the technological conditions at the time of its creation, which means that this paper also includes a description of established methods of using the disruption of data flows as well as the results of such interventions. Nonetheless, what follows is a description of the basic groundwork of such methods and an outline of their inner principle that one can find in the contemporary new ways of understanding and using glitch. This work thus mainly focuses on the history of glitch rather than its new forms, however it concludes by a description of the assimilation of its aesthetics, more than its principles, by mass culture, which brings a shift in its aesthetic function in specific popcultural contexts.

Revenge in early China
"Staré" mechanismy doby Chunqiu přetrvávají i v období Zhanguo, byť v pozměněné podobě, a naopak kořeny "nových" principů najdeme už ve starších dobách.

In search of an equivocal country
Axmannová, Eliška ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (advisor) ; Jamek, Václav (referee)
The present diploma thesis called In search of an equivocal country is devoted to the life and work of Victor-Lévy Beaulieu, a French Canadian (Quebecois) novelist. Beaulieu is an exceptional figure on the contemporary literary scene, especially because of his large scale project that he has been patiently pursuing for almost fifty years - the quest for a Quebecois epic and a hero that could save the nation from its loss of cultural identity. It is the 1978 trilogy Monsieur Melville that stands at the heart of the thesis. The eight hundred pages mosaic divided in three volumes might be mistaken for a simple biography of Herman Melville or for a critical analysis of his work. Nevertheless, it's to the art of literature that the text is devoted. Abel, writer and Beaulieu's alter-ego, is the narrator, while Melville assumes the role of an acolyte. Together, they undertake a voyage across New England and neighbouring waters in order for Abel to find strength enough to write the ultimate Book for Quebec. The thesis is made up by three main parts. Following a short introductory chapter concerned with Beaulieu's life and work and with his relation to the American literature, the focus is put on formal aspects of the trilogy. The first part of the thesis is called Monsieur Melville and postmodern inspiration and...

The correspondence of Václav Havel
Hron, Jan ; Špirit, Michael (advisor) ; Holý, Jiří (referee)
The thesis prepares for publishing letters, which Václav Havel sent to people, who were at least one generation older: Václav Černý, Josef Hiršal, Vladimír Holan, Jiří Kolář, Jindřich Chalupecký, Jaroslav Seifert and Josef Šafařík. Havel might have considered or have indeed considered them his teachers, be it for a certain period or in a certain area. The thesis also contains a possible book introduction, in which the author describes the artistic youth and ripening of Václav Havel and identifies ties, which connect Václav Havel with the culture of the First Republic.

History of the North Czech philharmonic Teplice
Kolařík, Tomáš ; PANOCHA, Jiří (advisor) ; TOMÁŠEK, Jiří (referee)
In his master thesis the author provides a look into the history of The North Czech philharmonic Teplice, the only professional symphonic ensemble in the region of Ústí nad Labem, since 1948 until now. The work is divided into four main chapters. The first one gives an overview about the most significant conductors, which held a position of either a chief-conductor or a deputy. The second, crucial chapter brings an insight to the historical development of the orchestra, its changes and events, from the time of the re-establishment (1948) to the year 2016. In the third chapter, the author mentions the most important information about Ludwig van Beethoven music festival, of which The North Czech philharmonic Teplice is an organizer, and then gives a brief and incomplete list of the festival's seasons. The final chapter marginally sums up the work with the information about a new feature called "orchestra academy", inspired by the main czech orchestras. The thesis is attached with pictures showing the rehearsals and concerts environment in the time course and recent images of the orchestra, which enhance the possible plain and fact-like character of the whole work.

Women in the Czech photogram
Šigut, Vladimír ; Musilová, Helena (advisor) ; Měřička, Jan (referee)
My bachelor thesis is focused on mapping of the circle of women artists using the photogram technique in the Czech environment. While the artists born on the beginning of the last century (Emila Medková, Běla Kolářová, Eva Fuková) used this newly accepted artistic technique only rarely, for the authors of the next generations ? Gabriela Kolčavová, Ilona Staňková, Jolana Havelková and Jindra Viková ? the experiments on photogram basis became the integral part of their work. Woman photographers and artists differ from their male counterparts namely in their topics that are usually more poetic, fragile and intimate. Very often they relate to their close family circle. In the course of my work I had a few very inspiring and resourceful personal meetings with the artists, or in the case of Emila Medková with the artist?s daughter Eva Kosáková.

The evacuation of villages in Vyškov region in 1939-1945. The broadening of the Vyškov military area for the needs of German occupying army
Leznar, Marek ; Kokoška, Stanislav (referee) ; Šedivý, Ivan (advisor)
The Vyškov Military Area was established for the needs of the Czechoslovak military forces in 1935 in the area of former woodland of the Olomouc Bishopric. There was established the training centre for tankists, the casern and a few tankist units by the year 1938. After the occupation of the rest of Czechoslovakia by German army in 1939 the Vyškov Military Area passed over to the control of wehrmacht. Its command with cooperation of German Protectoral Offices decided the broadening of Vyškov Military Area for its needs to the prejudice of surrounding villages. Germans for the expropriation of the surrounding area used the law of the First Republic number 25 from 1935 about the expropriation of the real estate for purpose of the defence of the state. The whole action was the responsibility of the Protectorate Land Office for Bohemia and Moravia (Bodenamt) - the seat in Prague - which established in Vyškov the Office of Relocation. It was subordinated to the Protectorate Department of Home Affairs. The moving of villages in the zone around Vyškov began in spring in 1941 and finished in the end of 1944.
