Water Treatment Efficiency Using Membrane Filtration
Zelinová, Kristína ; Kolesíková, Lucie (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
In the first part of this thesis, current requirements for drinking water according to the legislation valid in the territory of Czech Republic and Slovak Republic are summarized. Also the changes that will come with implementation of the directive 2020/2184 of the European parliament are mentioned. Following those future changes, the importance of new technologies for water treatment comes to light. Among those technologies belong membrane processes. The rest of the thesis is dedicated to them. At first, current knowledge of their operation principles and categories, to which they can be divided into are reviewed. Then, the processes related to their maintenance are approached. Mentioned are few specific water treatment plants in Czechia and Slovakia, where membrane processes were already applied. The scientific part of this thesis consists of series of tests, executed on an ultrafiltration unit, in laboratory conditions. Including optimalization of the filtration process, as well as observation of the pollutants removal efficiency from surface water. Towards the end of the thesis, recorded values are evaluated.
Revize ochranných pásem vybraného vodního zdroje
Chocholáčková, Zuzana
The bachelor thesis deals with an issue of protective areas of water resources, specifically ground water resources, which supply a drinkable water of Dlouhá Lhota. The thesis is separated into a several chapters. Literature research is the first chapter and it describes water management legislation, it also deals with an issue of water quality, water pollution and ways to protect watercourses. In next chapters there is a characteristic of the area, in which there are assessments of natural and water management conditions. The thesis detailed describes water resource and its parameters. After that, there is an analysis of risk, which endanger water quality, water quantity and health of water resources. With help of a few graphs, there are evaluated some water quality values: pH, colour, turbidity, ammonium ions, nitrates, nitrites, manganese, iron and CHSKMn. Based on these values there are some proposed measures, which should improve water quality of ground water resource of Dlouhá Lhota. Zones of hygienic protection ensure the protection of water source, which was established in the 80's of last century and now these are inconvenient. The next point is proposal of revision according to valid legislation.
Využití polyaspartátu draselného pro zajištění krystalické stability vín
Meredová, Karin
The thesis on „Utilization of potassium polyaspartate to ensure wines crystal stability“ is divided in two section, as theoretical so practical part. Theoretic part examined general colloid definition and division of disperse systems. This part further described various kind of turbidities in connection to the wine itself. It comprising detailed turbidity description together with methods and prevention option through the most commonly used stabilizers (e.g. carboxymethylcellulose, metatartaric acid, gum arabic etc.). Experimental, is theoretical parts dealt with the experiment execution itself. The experiment focused on already known and in practice used preparations and their comparison with new potassium polyaspartate-based preparation. Stabilisers were added in different concentration, variants and combinations in non-stable wine. The wines were immediately botteled in with proper preparations and stored in two variants (cellar and indoor temperature). The parameters such as wine color variation and crystal turbidity formation were examined throughout the entire storage period for each option separately. From each variant were eastablished three equal bottles in order to verify potential opening and time-dependent differeneces of already used preparations. The wines were subjected various methods of evaluation (visual check, gravimetry, evaluation at Alpha machine, pH, turbidity) and the results were statistically evaluated and processed. In the end was the follow-up reseach recommended with the same subject of focus.
Properties of fine sediments in the water supply network
Dukát, Petr ; Sucháček, Tomáš (referee) ; Ručka, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with properties of fine sediments which occur naturally in water supply pipes. With focus on issues of fine sediments samples literature search was made and measurement methodology, which enables better understanding the behavior of sediment in the water supply network, was determined. During controlled pipes flushing, samples of fine sediments were taken from selected water pipes sections and under laboratory conditions sedimentation test, using measurement methodology, was made. Sedimentation test included the measurement of turbidity for the time necessary to meet the limit value of turibidity given by the government regulation for drinking water. Results of this thesis are important input information for simulating the spread of high turbid water in the water supply network during a turbidity event.
Model research on the effectiveness of separation technologies for water treatment
Hofmanová, Lucie ; Látal,, Milan (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the effectiveness of separation technologies for water treatment. The first theoretical part mentions types of pollution that can be found in surface water. Furthermore, the interparticle interactions affecting the stability of colloidal dispersions are discussed. The following is a description of the principle, procedure, mechanisms of coagulation and factors influencing this process. The chapter dealing with types of water treatment is followed by a more detailed description of the individual separation technologies used in the water treatment plants. The important passage in the theoretical part is the description of materials and reagents used in laboratory experiments. The coagulants nanoiron and sodium water glass are characterized, as well as Bayoxide E33, CFH 0818, FILTRASORB 100 activated charcoal and DORSILIT silicate sand. The experimental part of the thesis analyses the jar test procedure. The flocculation tester intended for the jar test was used for laboratory coagulation using nanoiron and sodium water glass. The effectiveness of selected coagulants in the removal of turbidity from water during sedimentation of flakes produced in reaction vessels was investigated. In addition, the effectiveness of individual filtering materials in the removal of turbidity from water containing nanoiron/sodium water glass was investigated. In the end, the results of laboratory tests are compared and evaluated, including photos taken during experiments.
The use of alternative coagulants in water treatment
Hofmanová, Lucie ; Zelený, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the use of alternative coagulants in water treatment. The first theoretical part mentions types of water treatment for the individual categories of raw water, related laws and ordinances. After that thesis describes the principle, mechanisms of coagulation and factors influencing the process. It analyses the jar test procedure performed within the experimental part of the bachelor's thesis. One chapter deals with polymers and metal coagulants based on aluminium and iron commonly used in water treatment. The chapter includes more detailed description of natural polymers moringa oleifera and chitosan. These two coagulating agents and aluminium sulfate were used in the second experimental part of the bachelor's thesis. Several sets of the jar test were performed in order to investigate the efficiency of chosen coagulants on the removal of turbidity from water. The thesis concludes with a comparison and evaluation of the results. Photos taken during the jar test can also be found at the end of the bachelor's thesis.
Dependence of quality parameters of malt on the temperature of mashing at sweet wort preparation
Zlámalová, Petra ; Sachambula, Lenka (referee) ; Mikulíková, Renata (advisor)
The Masters thesis deals with dependence of quality parameters of malt on the temperature of mashing at sweet wort preparation. The theoretical part focuses on the technology of malt production including description of ingredients, production parts, some kinds of malt and the quality parameters. There is also described the technology of sweet wort preparation and the methods of determination of the malt quality parameters in the sweet wort there. The experimental part focuses on determination of malt extract, viscosity, haze, colour, time of starch cleavage, pH, degree of fermentation and beta-glucans content. Based on temperature dependence of parameters, the individual samples were compared and the effects of temperature were discussed. The biggest extract of light and caramel malts was explored at 70 °C, of coloured malt at 50 °C. The lowest viscosity of light and coloured malts was explored at 65 °C, of caramel malt at 50 °C. The lowest haze of wort was at 65 °C. Ideal colour of all malts was at all mashing temperatures. Ideal pH of all malts was explored at 70 °C. Ideal time of starch cleavage was explored at 70-85 °C. The biggest achievable degree of fermentation and the hugest increase of beta-glucans content were explored at 65 °C.
