Design of a sustainable urban structure - based on a medieval city - for the 21st century.
Bušinová, Eva ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
The thesis deals with the design of a sustainable urban structure, based on a medieval city, in the 21st century. The main idea of the proposal is the creation of a new part of the town Náměšť nad Oslavou with the aim of connecting it with the existing urban structure and at the same time extending it to the missing elements of the developing city. The newly built area is designed with an emphasis on the construction of new residential housing with civil facilities services, while designing and creating public spaces and private parts of courtyards and villas. The aim of the thesis was to design a growing territory so that it adapts to the needs of today's society and at the same time became part of the existing city. From an urban point of view, based on the theme of the thesis, the aim is to combine elements of a medieval city with elements of a city built in the 21st century. The concept is based on a planned network of streets with multifunctional buildings designed for trade and production in the ground floor and housing on other floors, which originated in the medieval city. The emblem of the medieval city was the emotional perception of the connection of strict lines and strange shapes into one whole, and therefore buildings were designed in a new part of the city for living with almost clean geometric lines, while the objects of civil facilities are organic shapes.

The thesis deals with the issue of a barrier-free environment in the city of Brno, namely the area in front of the main train station on Nádražní Street. It assesses the current state according to Decree No. 398/2009 Coll. general technical requirements ensuring the barrier-free usage of buildings and their parts, with an emphasis on the comfort and mobility of people with movement restrictions. The current arrangement does not meet either structural, aesthetic, sociological, safety or traffic requirements. Knowledge of the area of barrier-free construction and special simulation tools for modeling people's movement have been used to design optimal solution. It has been found that space can be optimized by detailed analysis of simulation outputs to meet all expected requirements without negative impact on any of the areas mentioned above. Thanks to this, it was possible to achieve a new design, which made the area a full-fledged and representative part of the city center of Brno.

The subject of the solution is the development of a missing city block between Sokolská and Pekárenská streets, with the blind alley Závodní. The thesis is based on an urban design proposal from a previous project, which has been revised and slightly modified. The thesis then focuses on the design of two buildings within the addressed block and the adjacent public space at the intersection of Veveří and Pekárenská streets. While the first building represents an atypical corner house with an entrance to an underground parking and block supply, the second building represents a typical row house, whose principles can be applied to other objects within the street or block. The proposal also includes the solution of underground parking under the entire built-up block. The design considers and applies the use of spaces for commerce and services, offices, but primarily housing in the city center.
The Building on Obilní trh
Daňová, Barbora ; Štěpánek, Martin (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
The gap on the opposite side of Obilní trh has been a neglected area for a long time and it looks unaesthetic. The location of the place is ideal for the construction of a building of public interest as it is located near the city center and at the same time it is surrounded by nature especially the park around the castle Spilberk. The situation is solved in this thesis by designing a multifunctional building which houses mainly the Office of district Brno střed, Brno City Architect's Office and the Urban Center. The premises attract with their variable use and also with the mutual communication of the building with the outdoor spaces. The urbanism of the design respects and complements the surrounding public space while not disturbing the current state of public infrastructure and life in the city. On the contrary, the design supports the attractiveness of the place and the city of Brno as such.
