The development of the porcelain industry in Karlovy Vary region throughout the 20th century

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the development of the porcelain industry in Karlovy Vary region throughout the 20th century. Firstly, the theoretical part, the will deal with historic aspect of the porcelain industry, its origin in China, the economic factor, as well as circumstances of its origins in Czech lands, primarily in Karlovy Vary region. The core of the thesis is in the analytical part, where the development of porcelain industry in the 20th century will be presented. In the analytical part author puts an emphasis to the post WWII emigration of German population from Sudetenland and its consequent impact on the porcelain manufacturing, Interestingly enough, porcelain industry was historically located in the area, where lived primarily the German inhabitants. From the collected data regarding the ethnic composition in the first half of the twentieth century it is evident that the population transfer had a negative impact on the whole industry. Furthermore, this thesis portrays the development of the industry in the 20th century, primarily during the period from the end of WWI to the privatization of industry between the years 1992 -- 1994.The thesis concludes that the outflow of German specialists negatively impacted the whole porcelain industry, more specifically in regards to product quality, export to foreign markets and the volume of production.
Sudeten Germans in the context of Czech and German history at the turn of the forties and fifties of the 20th century

This bachelor thesis deals with the situation of the Sudeten Germans and their perception of the Czech and German environment in the first years after their displacement. The aim is to describe the attitudes of Czechs and Germans and their political representations to transfer and to each other and describe the reasons which led to these opinions. The first part includes an introduction to the topic, deals with the development of Czech-German relations before Second World War and the transfer of Germans from Czechoslovakia after wartime experiences. The second part describes the stance of Czechoslovakia on the German population after the transfer and perception of the transfer in the Czech context. The third part devotes to the problems of displaced Germans and their views of the transfer, self-perception, the formation of the Sudeten German Landsmanschaft and attitudes the FRG and the GDR to this issue. In the thesis will be used newspaper Sudetendeutsche Zeitung of Sudetendeutsche Landsmanschaft and other contemporary press and literature.
Economic impacts of displacement of Sudeten Germans in the Karlovy Vary region

This bachelor thesis deals with the impact of forced displacement of German population on economic development of the Karlovy Vary region after the Second World War. Preliminary, the author weights up the role of Sudeten-Germans in the region in 1918--1945. Afterwards, he focuses on transfer of German-speaking inhabitants from the region after resumption of the Czech Republic. This thesis analyses immediate consequences of changes in the structure of population. It makes use of examples such as disappeared borderline communes, closedown of Sudeten-German companies or their nationalisations. Onward, this writing follows the inefficient level of workers in economically important professions as well as changes in social structuring of society and its standard of living. This thesis draws particularly from archival documents such as State provincial archives Karlovy Vary and Sokolov resident in Jindřichovice as well as unpublished sources of private provenience (recollections, memoirs) and chronicles of described communes in the Karlovy Vary region.
Economic and social impacts of transfer of Germans during the years 1945-1947 in Jesenicko

The bachelor thesis is focusing on one of the most important moments in the history of Jesenicko, which took place during the years 1945 - 1947, when, within the transfer of Germans, a majority of local residents was displaced from this almost all German border area. The German-Czech relationship development in Jesenicko is summed up in the first part of the thesis. Particular measures against Germans as well as Benes decrees and the transfer of Germans are analyzed in detail in the second part. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to assess the consequences of transfer of Germans that are mentioned in the third part. The emphasis is placed on economic and social impacts that are completed with a practical demonstration of a change in asset-legal relations in one village in Jesenicko. A part of the analysis is also a replacement of the German minority by new settlers in the process of settlement. The bachelor thesis is based on unpublished (archived, oral history) and published resources and special literature and it uses historical and economic methods (i.a. statistical, biographical).
