Negative impact of Smart Cities on human society

Koncept Smart Cities je považován za nový způsob lidského bydlení. Hlavním úkolem této práce je určení role klíčových komponentů Smart City, za účelem zhodnocení zda Smart technology přináší pohodlí a zahrnuje oblasti, kde se lidé cítí v bezpečí. Ve své bakalářské práci představuji koncept Smart City za pomoci analýzy a zvážením různých definicí. Pro objasnění konceptu a vysvětlení jeho užití bylo nutno zahrnout i kapitolu věnující se historii tohoto termínu a fenoménu. Aby čtenář snáze pochopil problematiku konceptu Smart Cities a jejich potenciálních negativních dopadů, bylo nutno zabývat se i faktory, které ovlivňují vědecké vnímání toho výrazu. Stanovením hlavních nevýhod jejich realizace se zabývají poslední dvě kapitoly mé práce. V nich poskytuji detailní popis stávajících problémů, uvádím příklady a objasňuji důvody pro jejich výskyt.
ZNOJMO - TRANSFORMATION OF THE OLD HOSPITAL AREA

The old hospital complex is located in close proximity to the historical center of Znojmo. The original function is no longer fulfilled and its structure does not correspond to the urban area and thus excludes it. However, due to its location and some historic buildings it has great potential. This work aims to transform the place into a full-fledged part of the city, preserving the original genius loci. After thorough analysis, it determines structures that will be preserved and removed. On the free parcels are proposed buildings of urban blocks with multifunctional use. By its arrangement, it responds to the neighborhood and away from the city, from closed city blocks, it opens to semi-blocks and solitaires.
Smart District Špitalka

This thesis deals with an architectural case study of the city block in the Svitava industrial zone bordered by the Svitava river in the east, Ring road in the west, Milady Horákové street in the north and Zvonařka street in the south. Špitálka Smart City is located right in the centre of this area. The thesis is modeled on the Špitálka Smart City urban study, that was the outcome of the pre-thesis seminar in the winter term 2020/21. The urban study objective was the urban renewal of the Brno teplárny (heating plant) area and its surroundings as well as a design of a new urban boulevard. To effectively use the place a residential building with commercial spaces on the groundfloor has been designed. The building consists of four sections, which share two underground storeys providing parking space and space for building services. The case study further develops only the section that is labeled A in the study. Section A offers 23 housing units and a café. The design aims at high quality housing with a view of the city replacing the former industrial zone.
The compact city - rehabilitation of the urban area surrounding the historic center of Brno

The dissertation focuses on rehabilitaion of urban space close to historic center of Brno city. One third of the area is taken by brownfields. These final goals were set: finding a new function for unused places, making a use of potential of Svitava canal and spaces in front of old buldings and creation of new urban spaces . Intervention includes creation of riverside designed for pedestrians, bike path construction, connecting area to city’s transportation system, bulding a new railway station and housing blocks with active street level and ability to walk througH area with as little obstacles as possible. Extra emphasis was placed on compactness of development, polyfunctionality and hierarchy of transpotration that respects man, his everyday life and needs. Concept reflects urban designing trends in 21st century.
Implementace koncepce Smart City v oblasti sociálních a zdravotních služeb ve Zlínském kraji

The main aim of given master thesis is to analyse the current situation of the implementation of the Smart City/Region concept in field of social services and health care services in Zlín region. The theoretical part of this thesis pays attention to the key theoretical concepts, which are essential for the understanding of the whole topic. The following analytical part of this thesis firstly analyses the role of the region in the process of implementation of the Smart City/Region concept. Secondly it aims to analyse the current situation of the implementation of the Smart City/Region concept in given field of social services and health care services within the Zlín region. At the end, the attention is given to the exploration, whether the Covid-19 pandemic could potentially influence the development of implementation of the Smart solutions within the given field. The analytical part of the thesis is based on the secondary information from the relevant methodical and strategic documents at the national and regional level. The significant sources of data are also primary information from the group interview with the 3 relevant representatives of the regional office of Zlín region and semi structured interviews with 2 relevant representatives of the social service organizations and 2 relevant representatives of the health care service organizations. Finally, the master thesis seeks to evaluate actual situation and practices of the implementation of the Smart City/Region concept in given agenda of social services and health care services. It seeks to identify the existing problems and barriers and tries to suggest the possible recommendations for further development of the implementation of the Smart solutions within the particular field of social services and health care services in Zlín region.

The implementation of smart solutions and modern technologies are nowadays an increasingly used form of building cities and urban services. There are a large number of smart cities and towns in Europe using some form of smart city solutions. This bachelor thesis analyses the building of smart cities in Scandinavia, specifically in the leading smart cities Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the characteristics of the philosophy and principles of smart cities and the smart areas of environment, technology, living and transport. The next part of the thesis contains a description of the countries of the selected territory. The case cities are then analysed in the selected smart areas based on a literature search. In the final stage, the results are compared and some of the positive factors are recommended to other cities, both in the world and in the Czech Republic.

Vojacek, F. Perception and implementation of the concept of smart cities in the Czech Republic. Thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno. Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies, 2023. This master's thesis focuses on the concept of smart cities and their implementation in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the characteristics and criteria of smart cities, their benefits, and their contributions to cities, as well as the challenges and obstacles associated with their implementation. Furthermore, the individual areas and tools of smart cities are introduced. In the empirical part of the thesis, data analysis was conducted based on interviews with representatives of cities and municipalities participating in projects related to the concept of smart cities. The results of this thesis showed that several cities in the Czech Republic have already successfully participated in the concept of smart cities, but there are still several barriers that prevent its widespread adoption and successful implementation. Implementace konceptu Smart City v Blansku

The bachelor thesis "Implementation of the Smart City concept in Blansko" deals with the evaluation of Smart City projects in Blansko. The aim is to map the current situation of the Smart City concept in Blansko and to propose further possibilities of its use in the development of the city. The first part of the literature search summarizes the knowledge about the background and current trends of the Smart City concept implementation in the Czech Republic with regard to the size of the city of Blansko. Furthermore, the current approach, Smart City projects in the city of Blansko are described and a strategic analysis of further possibilities of implementation is prepared using the SWOT method. In particular, it is proposed to strengthen the implementation in the areas of economy, environment, smart transport and cultural activities, where the primary research identified the interest of citizens.

The bachelor thesis deals with the implementation of the Smart City concept in Moravský Krumlov. The main goal of the thesis is to analyze the level of implementation of the Smart City concept in Moravský Krumlov and, based on this analysis, identify possibilities for further development. The theoretical part characterizes individual areas of the concept, terms that are inherently associated with inteligent cities, and the topic of implementing smart cities in the Czech Republic. The practical part includes an analysis of the current level of implementation of the Smart City concept projects in Moravský Krumlov. Based on the results, possibilities for further development were proposed with regard to the city's development strategy.
