New directions for waterproofing of underground transport
Čech, Tomáš ; Čížek, Luboš (referee) ; Šťastník, Stanislav (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on the implementation of waterproofing of underground constructions using an LLDPE membrane hinged on anchors. In the future, this method will replace the commonly used waterproofing system in Scandinavia with extruded polyethylene foam. This method of tunnel construction and waterproofing is compared with the NRTM method, often used in Central Europe. The thesis describes the installation of a waterproofing system, especially materials, accessories, welding devices and auxiliary installation equipment. The main focus of the thesis is to verify the reliability of the individual types of welds and to assess the waterproofing system in terms of implementation and environmental demands.

Houfek, Martin ; Kratochvíl, Ctirad (referee) ; Hortel, Milan (referee) ; Hlaváčková, Milada (referee) ; Florian, Zdeněk (advisor)
Today is the implantation of joint replacements, although a radical, but very functional restoration frequent way ill joint. The implants are placed high demands on their biocompatible and long-term function, which is directly related to wear of joint replacements in the human body. Therefore, analysis of the complex behavior of the implant in the human body is a fundamental problem of biomechanics of implants. This issue is dedicated, this dissertation thesis. Dissertation thesis deals with the solution design and development of experimental device for testing the TEP acetabula and wear identification using optical method. The proposed device allows the joint burden hole TEP physiological manner, but by working with the acetabulum burdened by Power resultant joint axis passes through the hole. The physiological loading of articular wells and evaluating the size of the loss of polyethylene is currently intensively addressed. The results of this study may in the near future, serving as information for assessing the conduct of wear prosthetic hip joint in vivo. The work is devoted to solving the problem of the size required to detect the loss of polyethylene for joint replacement arthroplasty: Design and development of experimental equipment for testing the acetabulum of the hip joint arthroplasty. Identify wear using optical methods. Design and development of experimental equipment was made in the system Inventor Professional 2010 at the level of 3D modeling. Great attention was paid to the design fit into the acetabulum TEP testing machines and gripping the acetabulum into an optical device. Management options were tested with combinations of experimental equipment engines. Suggestions were made and then tests for fixing the acetabulum into an optical device. Has the possibility of depth analysis and identification of wear joined with innovative solutions to evaluate the loss of polyethylene acetabulum arthroplasty. Identification of abrasion (loss of polyethylene) joint arthroplasty holes were carried out experimental measurements using an optical holographic interferometry. The comprehensive analysis of the results of experimental measurement of the loss of polyethylene shows that this method can identify both the size but also an area where there is even to small changes in the surface, which depend on the abrasion. One can also say that using this method we are able to affect the will or displacements that affect the size of the loss of polyethylene in joint arthroplasty hole. Despite the number of known and lessons learned arising from the results of solving the problem of design and development of experimental equipment for testing the acetabulum and hip arthroplasty wear identification using optical methods, this work is that the initial study to identify problematics wear of joint replacements. Complete resolution of this issue is beyond the scope of one doctoral thesis.
Reactions of HDPE in the melt initiated by peroxides
Hampapa, Břetislav ; Kučera, František (referee) ; Petrůj, Jaroslav (advisor)
The thesis deals with HDPE modification by crosslinking. In the theoretical part, data available in the literature were reviewed. Modifications of the selected HDPE copolymer grade were carried out in a kneading device Brabender using 25 ml chamber size. After having optimized process conditions, there were performed a series of experiments in dependence on concentration of the initiator. Reological properties of polymer samples were investigated by melt flow indexes measured under different conditions. Changes in crystallinity and melting temperatures were evaluated from DSC heat flow measurements. The samples meeting characteristics supposed were selected for measuring complex viscosity on the Rheometer AR-G2 TA and for testing some mechanical properties on the device Zwick.

Electrical behaviour of polymeric composites with expanded graphite
Šimonek, Michal ; Petruš, Josef (referee) ; Kučera, František (advisor)
Electrically conductive thermoplastic composites made from graphene nanoplatelets or graphene precursors are a promising branch of new functional materials. Graphene nanocomposites were prepared via processing in an internal mixer from four extrusion grade polyethylenes (PE) and expanded graphite (EG). As a method of possible improvement of EG dispersion, compounding in presence of various compatibilizers is examined. Melt compounding was performed for 10 min at 200 °C and 60 rpm. The electrical conductivity of compression-molded samples was determined from a current voltage characteristic or direct resistance measurement. Composite morphology was characterized by scanning electron microscopy. Depending on the PE matrix and compatibilizer structure, different electrical conductivities and morphologies were observed, which corresponded in agreement with either percolation theory or the random-resistor network of Miller and Abrahams models. Substantial reduction of percolation threshold was achieved in compatibilized ultra-low density polyethylene where percolation occurred at 3,92 % vol.
Flame retarders of polymeric materials
Winkler, David ; Poláček, Petr (referee) ; Kučera, František (advisor)
Bachelor thesis focuses on the study of expanded graphite as flame retardant added to low density polyethylene and it´s potential synergistic effect with ammonium polyphosphate. Additive and non-additive dog-bone samples were prepared by compounding and injection. Crystalization, melting point and thermal decomposition of the samples were monitored by TGA and DSC thermal analysis methods. The effect of expanded graphite on the mechanical proporties of the materiál was monitored by a tenssile test. The effect of expanded graphite as a flame retardant and its synergistic effect with ammonium polyphosphate was confirmed by a flame test in the horizontal position of the sample.
Modification of Polyethylene by Reactive Compounding
Horkel, Ondřej ; Kučera, Jaroslav (referee) ; Petrůj, Jaroslav (advisor)
This Master’s thesis deals with the problematics of radically initiated compounding of polyethylene by 1-vinyladamantane. Theoretical part focuses on the theory of grafting processes and how they are influenced by chosen process parameters, as well as the properties of used monomer. In experimental part, two sets of experiments were designed, in both cases the chemicals used were polyethylene LITEN MB 87, (2,5-dimethyl-2,5-bis(tert-butylperoxy) hexane), also called Trigonox 101, as the initiator, and chemicals called Ionol and Irgafos 168 as stabilizers. The experiments were carried out in a Brabender batch mixer, the temperature was 180 – 185 °C, the reaction time was 5 minutes. The analytic methods used to evaluate the prepared samples’ properties were the tensile testing, the Charpy notch test, measuring of the melt flow index, analyzing the torque during kneading and the analysis of infrared spectra of the samples. By carrying out of these experiments it was found that excessive crosslinking was present with mass fraction of initiator being as low as 2 %. It was also concluded that under these conditions the modification does not improve tensile properties of the material, but it does improve the impact strength, albeit slightly. The influence of the modification on flow properties needs to be investigated further. A presence of vinyl groups was observed in infrared spectra, suggesting the presence of ungrafted vinyladamantane.

Abrazivní opotřebení termoplastů v zařízeních pro zpracování odpadních materiálů
Slabá, Monika
The thesis deals with abrasive wear of thermoplastics in waste processing equipment. The work describes properties of thermoplastics and abrasion. The extent of abrasion was determined using a unique research equipment called an abrazimeter. Part of the thesis assignment was also the design and construction of the measurement device. The experimental procedures of the thesis describe the measurement and analysis of an abrasive wear of selected materials, i.e., steel 11 373 and polyethylene UHMW from concrete-recycled material. The acquired data were continuously used for optimization of the methodological set up. The aim of this approach was to reproduce the conditions of the real operation. The weight loss of the UHMW polyethylene after 100 hours of operation was twice as high as that of steel 11 373. The measured data were evaluated and statistically processed. The output this thesis may serve as a basis for the further research.
